    Good match.

    PTS: TB
    Title Track: LALD
    Title Credits: LALD
    Main Villain: TB
    Main Bond Girl: LALD
    Overall Plot: TB
    Dialogue: TB
    Score: LALD
    Settings: TB
    Action: LALD
Humor: TB (This one was very hard to choose)
    Cinematography: TB
    Benign Bizarre: LALD
    Suspense: TB
    Minor Characters: LALD
    Glamour: TB
    Ally: LALD

    Thunderball - 9
    Live And Let Die -8

I thought this one would be close, but not that close.
I prefer TB, but LALD is always a good piece of fun. Certainly one of Sir Rog's best.

    TB vs LALD

PTS: TB (LALD among the worst)
Title Track: LALD (LALD among the best)
Title Credits: TB (Close, but the wave effects win out for TB)
Main Villain: LALD (Kananga and Mr. Big as the same person was rather clever)
Main Bond Girl: TB (They both deserve it. Domino is among the elite though)
Overall Plot: TB (sharks were used brilliantly in TB compared to LALD)
Dialogue: TB (due to the lack of Caucasian slurs)
    Score: LALD (McCartney inspires soul)
Settings: TB (The Bahamas for being an actual Caribbean country)
Action: TB (There has never been better underwater action. Never!)
Humor: LALD (Silly at times, but a huge upgrade over DAF)
Cinematography: TB (Anyone who votes against TB needs psychiatric help. TB was a breakthrough in underwater cinematography)
Benign Bizarre: LALD (Voodoo do outdo Junkanoo too)
Suspense: TB (Inflation pellets just kind of ruin the thrill of the fight)
Minor Characters: TB (for the SPECTRE blitz)
Glamour: TB (New Orleans and 70s New York isn't exactly known for its glamour)
Ally: LALD (Hedison was smart enough not to say Double O Ow)

Thunderball wins 11-6. Kind of what I expected.

TB wins 9-7 and 1 tie. (They're pretty much both ranked together as mediocre).

PTS: TB (I guess. The jet pack is unintentionally funny but at least this PTS has Bond in it.)
Title Track: LALD (By a long shot.)
    Title Credits: LALD
Main Villain: LALD (Largo is one of the worst.)
    Main Bond Girl: LALD
Overall Plot: TB (Both are a little thin on plot.)
Dialogue: LALD (TB has it's moments though.)
Score: TB (Although LALD has the best non-Barry score.)
    Settings: LALD
    Action: LALD
Humor: LALD (Again, TB has it's moments.)
    Cinematography: LALD
    Benign Bizarre: LALD
    Suspense: LALD
    Minor Characters: LALD
    Glamour: TB
    Ally: LALD

    LALD - 13
    TB - 4

Wasn't expecting that but there you have it.
  • PTS: Thunderball
Title Track: Live and Let Die
Title Credits: Live and Let Die (one of my favourites)
Main Villain: Thunderball (a rather weak spot for both films)
Main Bond Girl: Thunderball (tough call)
    Overall Plot: Thunderball
    Dialogue: Thunderball
    Score: Thunderball
    Settings: Thunderball
Action: Thunderball (quality over quantity I guess)
Humor: Thunderball (though Live and Let Die certainly has a higher farcical factor)
    Cinematography: Thunderball
Benign Bizarre: Live and Let Die (the film's greatest asset)
    Suspense: Thunderball
Minor Characters: Live and Let Die (Baron Samedi deserved a spin-off series)
    Glamour: Thunderball
    Ally: Live and Let Die

    Thunderball - 12
Live and Let Die - 5

PTS: Thunderball (The jet pack vs. a scene that is notable because it doesn't feature Bond)
Title Track: Thunderball (Paul McCartney's is a game-changer, but can't compete with Tom Jones' powerful pipes.)
Title Credits: LALD (Maurice Binder's work evolved a lot since the swimming girl silhouettes)
Main Villain: Thunderball (Largo's one of my all-time favorite Bond villains.)
Main Bond Girl: Thunderball (And Domino's one of my all-time favorite Bond girls.)
Overall Plot: Thunderball (Out of all the Bond films, it certainly ranks among those where the stakes are highest.)
Dialogue: Thunderball (So many of Connery's cheeky one-liners)
Score: Thunderball (The many nights I spent listening to the orchestral "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" on vinyl.)
    Settings: LALD
    Action: Thunderball
Humor: LALD (Still Roger Moore's specialty)
Cinematography: Thunderball (All that beautiful underwater cinematography. From what I understand, revolutionary for the time.)
Benign Bizarre: LALD (Can't get much more bizarre than Bond vs. voodoo)
Suspense: Thunderball (One of, if not the, most suspenseful films in the series)
    Minor Characters: LALD
    Glamour: Thunderball
    Ally: Thunderball

    Thunderball: 12
    Live and Let Die: 5

Surprised LALD gained any ground since I still consider Thunderball my favorite out of all of them, but Roger Moore certainly hit the ground running in his debut.

    Thunderball takes it.

Personally, I think LALD was PRE-Moore buffoonery. It was a serious outing for the most part.

It had its silly moments (Rosie Carver and Baron Samedi spring to mind), but it's nothing compared to Moonraker, A View to a Kill, or The Man With the Golden Gun.

JW was a fine addition in his first appearance; it made sense there.

Yep. With that in mind, here are our final results. After one of our longest rounds to date, the final score was 223-197-5, Thunderball wins a solid decision over Live and Let Die.

Our next match will be between two movies that helped revive the Bond franchise after less-than-stellar entries and long waits, The Spy Who Loved Me vs. Skyfall!

Score: SF (average vs. aggressively annoying)

Humor: TSWLM (it's a Roger Moore movie, dammit)
    Cinematography: SF

Suspense: TSWLM (for any scene with Jaws and Bond removing the nuke)
    Minor Characters: SF
    Glamour: TSWLM
    Ally: SF (counting M here)

The Spy Who Loved Me triumphs by a margin of 9-7-1! Odd, since Skyfall sits two places higher than it on the old Bond ranking (5/7). I think that's the first time this has happened, at least in this round of the game.

Well, get to it, everybody else!

Higher margin than expected, but Skyfall is among my absolute favourites while Spy sits at around 10th place in my ranking.
