Having just read H.P. Lovecraft's amazing story The Call of the Cthulhu and all his fiction predating Cthulhu's publication, I felt compelled to search for material based on the weird man's writings. And who better than another weird character, Alan Moore himself, could have thrown a macabre and fascinating Lovecraftian graphic novel in my lap?
Neonomicon deals with many themes explored in Lovecraft's fiction but adds a very peculiar theme that is completely absent from his work: sexuality. Whereas Lovecraft seemed to shun every bit of sex from his tales, Moore and Burrows infuse their Lovecraftian tale with very explicit sex, almost to pornographic extents. While this may at first seem like a cheap way to draw our attention, I must point out that the theme of sex actually motivates the plot forward and reaches an interesting conclusion.
The panels are clean and neatly drawn. The text is everything you can expect from Moore. The story is fascinating and especially delicious for, though no exclusively aimed at, Lovecraft's fans.
Will I recommend it though? Well, I must admit I'm a bit hesitant. From the bottom of my heart, I do recommend it to people who share my interests, but if you're uncomfortable with several pages of unmistakable sexplicitation, I guess it might be wiser to just stick to Lovecraft's sexless horror tales.
The film is not happening, but a tv series is being produced. Hope it airs on a channel I have access to. This could be really great!
It's going to be on AMC in the US. I don't know where abroad, but here in the US, it's AMC.
Crossed vol 7. I think this series has run its course- the first three were good, but they slowly descended from clever horror into plain old shock value.

First Sin City comic book I have read , not disappointed. Awesome how true to the story the film was. The cast was inspired too. Will definitely try to get hold of more, and roll on <i>Sin City-A Dame To Kill For</i>.
For me, I last read the Captain America: The Winter Soldier Prelude.

The first Sin City was very faithful to the graphic novels, which gives me nothing but hope, in spite of some of the recasting, for the sequel.
So did I and I must say I was rather underwhelmed. How 'bout you, @Agent007391?
The first part is a rather poor adaptation of The First Avenger, that cuts off everything from the opening scene to the Stark World's Fair sequence, all of which was good material and would have worked fine in the adaptation. The writer, Peter David, is the same guy who actually managed to insert new scenes into the Iron Man adaptation he wrote four years ago, so I don't get what the hell happened.
The Infinite Comic set between The Avengers and The Winter Soldier pretty much only existed to prove that the Zodiac vial that Agent Carter snagged in the Marvel One-Shot was still out there somewhere. I fully expected it to be involved in Winter Soldier, and it wasn't even mentioned.
The reprinted material was pretty good, but, sadly, took up a good portion of the book. And I found it interesting that the issue of The Ultimates that they reprinted in a Captain America prelude just happened to be the issue that only has Cap on the last page.
I was quite disappointed that the MCU comic Captain America: Homecoming wasn't reprinted in the prelude. It was published in enough time for it to be included. The same thing happened with the Iron Man 3 Prelude and Iron Man: The Coming of The Melter.
I've got most of the other MCU collections, and so far, the only one I've been disappointed with is the Captain America prelude. It's pretty sad considering Winter Soldier has been the best film in the MCU so far.
Does 'Batman: No Man's Land' ever get any better? I've had the first trade for years and liked the concept. Just yesterday I came across a fun little comic store that had many trade's on the 50% rack, so I thought what the hell and picked up volume 2.
There are 5 total if I'm not mistaken, excluding 'Cataclysm' (the set-up for No Man's Land) - volume 2 was boring and the artwork was terrible. Should I bother getting the rest?
Me neither, but the concept has compelled me for years. I always had other purchases in mind whenever I came near a comic shop/book store that sold graphic novels, which unfortunately isn't often in my isolated area of residence.
Didn't really work though... But nevertheless it was funny to read... :)
