TSWLM. I just love shadow Moore walking casually to the naked army of women, and making them fall over.

I honestly prefer the GE main titles. I love the dynamic, how everything fits the song. I think it presents the film's title with (literally) a blast. But even more so, I absolutely can't get enough of the gunbarrel propelling us right behind the speeding Aston Martin. Furthermore, the Janus symbolism and the powerful images of the women hammering down the old statues, thereby effectively demonstrating that the cold war is supposedly over, always give me some chills. I think it's as close to perfection as you can get, but of course, all this is IMHO as per usual.

    MY TOP 10 (chronologically):

    - FRWL, it's simple but in fact Brownjohn is the man who brought in the fantasy-play with the scarcely dressed girls.
    - TB, the underwater themed images are quite appropriate and give a nice atmosphere
    - OHMSS, the clocks ticking, Bond has had five adventures, time for a change, wouldn't you say?
    - DAF, brilliant use of colourful images including diamonds and cats!
    - LALD, the dark voodoo like theme is already present, I also love the way the credits are projected with that water-like effect.
    - TMWTGG, same as above but with the golden gun.
    - LTK, I really enjoy how Dalton's image is used and how the photocamera and the casino are present, a nice farewell from Binder.
    - GE, a short and arty history lesson you might say, sheer brilliance.
    - DAD, ok I'm not fan of the movie but the titles being part of the story, Bond being weak and the contrast of fire and ice are fantastic.
    - CR, cards flying around the place and Bond becoming 00 in a very fancy way, another fantastic piece of work by Kleinman.

Best classic: OHMSS. I love the hour glass motif with scenes from the previous Bond adventures.

Best modern: GE. I love the silhouetted Bond girls smashing the Soviet icons.

Honorable mention to TB and YOLT.

I get a kick out of the OP sequence; it really goes over the top with the sexually suggestive gun/laser imagery.

I find it much easier to pick those I dislike so I shall:

The Man With The Golden Gun
    For Your Eyes Only
    Octopussy
    A View To A Kill
    The Living Daylights
    Licence To Kill
    Tomorrow Never Dies
    The World Is Not Enough
    Quantum Of Solace

My absolute favorite is the CR titles as they are a radically different approach that manages to homage the 50's novel origins while also symbolising the new energized approach to the franchise.

My second favourite is TSWLM with it's clever motifs from the films subtext, it just me feel really patriotic and very proud of Roger Moore, plus those naked silhouette girls have never looked sexier in their military peak caps and Luger's!

Third would have to be OHMSS, though for me the inserting of previous films live action footage is both distracting and necessary.

Fourth is FRWL, for me the largely unrecognised Robert Brownjohn is the real innovator of the Bond title sequences.

Lastly an honorable mention to AVTAK, not that it's good but rather because it's so so bad that I find it almost hysterical to watch, it has been very accurately described as like a 'French and Saunders ' skit of a Bond title sequence.

  • I can always enjoy the OHMSS opening, you get a little piece of all the Bond movies that came before it during the credits, fine music too.

Couldn't agree with you more :) Excellent, and my personal fave title sequence.

CR for me. The brilliant silhouettes and great casino themed designs are mind blowing. I love the progression of the theme, where we see a bunch of extremely creative designs over the course of it. Just a joy to watch.
  • Nothing controversial from me. Straight choice between On Her Majesty's & Casino Royale. Given they come from altogether different generations and the camera/visual tricks you could do then as against now I'll sit on the fence and split them.
Thus OHMSS takes the classic vote and CR gets the nod in the modern era
  • my faves are

    spy who loved me

I personally like FRWL's simple titles. Beautiful women, a projector, and colorful letters all matched with that great tune is all I need in my Bond titles.

Not the best per say, but I find it cool to see all the Bond films recapped in the OHMSS Bond title. Cool stuff.

    My two favorite are...

"Die Another Day"... I know many of you hate this movie, personally I don't, but this is about the opening title sequence. I loved seeing Bond getting his butt kicked (different for an opening Bond title) and the CGI fire and ice women.

"Casino Royale"... Loved how the card game was incorperated into the fighting.

Can't remeber every opening title sequence, but the worst that I can remember...

"Quantum of Solace"... It felt to bland and, honestly, it was kind of a bore.

And very bad CGI. You can blame Forster for that whole mess of a title.
  • Love Casino Royale's and Thunderball's the most. The CR one just screamed "Bond is back and better than ever!" and Thunderball is just a classic with the water and women. Gives me chills
