My blu-ray steelbook of 'Desperado' arrived in the mail today (one day early, too!), so I'll be watching Antonio Banderas dual wield pistols and absolutely cut through some bad Mexicans this evening. I can't wait, it's one of my favorite action movies.

I don't recall who did the animation for The Ice Warriors, but it should have been Cosgrove Hall who did the animation for The Invasion.

Bought a couple of my favorites on BluRay the other day:
    The Big Lebowski
    Shaun of the Dead
    V for Vendetta
    The Punisher (2004)

All included Ultraviolet digital copies too (I love this whole digital copy thing!)

Best Buy also has a few Bond BluRays on sale for $3.99 each. I added the following to the collection:

    The Spy Who Loved Me
    Live and Let Die
The Man with the Golden Gun

Looks like YOLT, OHMSS, GF, and FRWL are also either currently listed at $3.99 or will be soon.

They were absolute bargains, both of them, and they make for uncomplicated watching during all the artificial sweetness of Christmas and have a somewhat different theme than our holidays.

And I like Luke Bessons productions and Expendables 2 was one of the best actionmovies/comedies I did see in quite a few years.

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, happy to know that the blind buy was worth it!

@SaintMark, I loved the first two 'Expendables' films, but trust me, the third was radically different: some of the choppiest editing I've ever seen, bad CGI blood, incoherent story and terrible pacing, and the PG-13 rating ruined it (which led to the inevitable editing chops). BUT, I do hope that you like it since you paid for it.

I haven't seen 'Lucy' myself, but going off of everyone's opinion on this forum, it's awful.

It has Scarlett Johanson so that already compensates royally, I would say.

That said some of the fellows I tend to visit the cinema with, and we seem to enjoy the same kind of movies, quite liked it so I take their review over those I know less well. ;)

It was great, except for the ending which was very very stupid. Do not judge movies the way you judge ex lovers, fellas.
  • Expendables 3 was alright. Probably the weakest of the three but it wasn't that bad at all. There were some cool moments and Mel Gibson was great as the villain (he was a fantastic villain in Machete 2 as well last year). Ford and Bandereas were great too. The main problem was the younger cast (apart from the UFC girl, she was cool). Didn't really like any of them and I wish they hadn't bothered including them.

Sadly some dickhead put it up on the internet weeks before release so people who didn't even pay for the movie watched it and slagged it off before it was even out. So the film flopped and as far as I know, the franchise is pretty much dead. Shame because Pierce Brosnan was apparently in talks for the fourth one :(

I am just a sucker for decent king stuff, the movie with the brilliant as always Chris Walken is really good too and mighty creepy. [I already own that one!] ;)

@SaintMark, Cary Fukunaga is directing the first or two parts (may direct the second, no confirmation yet) of the retelling of 'IT' next year! Should be two R-rated films, and it'll follow even more closely to the book.
