Am I the only one who finds it strange that Michael G. Wilson did not appear at the press event today?

It's great that (maybe for the first time ever but surely for the first time in decades) we do not know exactly which actor will play the main villain of the movie!

Blofeld - "Mr Hinx, would you take care of Mr Bond please..."

Come on, who wouldn't want to hear that? ;-)

At the risk of overthinking this, what is really curious to me is the already much talked about logo with the cracked glass and spider legs.

Does this mean that Tracy has already been killed in Craig's universe? Or does it mean that the Tracy story is yet to come in a remake, perhaps in B25, as a Craig swansong (perhaps with Mendes back on board for a big pay day)?

Reintroducing someone who was last seen being dropped down a chute 33 years ago raises so many possibilities......and so many questions.

My bet is on either Waltz or Bellucci. Andrew Scott is a bit too young and youthful IMO.

I am wondering if Scott did not take the role Ejiofor was rumored for?

What role is that again? Is Scott the only one unnamed? Hmmm...

He was named and he is said to work for Whitehall. I have read on the BBC that he plays a MI5 agent.

I think Waltz will have a very good role, and a meaningful one, but I don't necessarily see him being Blofeld, unless he has committed to a multi-film deal, which I don't think he has. I think he will be a complex, conflicted soul, who is pulled to the dark side by SPECTRE & eventually pays a price.

What would be really great is if Blofeld (the name and the character) have a surprise cameo at the end of SPECTRE (like MD in Interstellar). What would be even better is if the actor who is revealed to be Blofeld has already been cast, and is aleady signed on for Bond 25. Now that would be something, because that means SPECTRE ends on a high note, a potentially devastating high note (i.e. Bond loses), with Bond ready to do battle with Blofeld in Craig's swansong - i.e. B25.

On that note, why not take predictions for B25's title: BLOFELD anyone?

Me too @bondjames. This new Bond-film, "Spectre", seems to be prone to way more guessing. Whereas "Skyfall" had a rather simple plot, which focussed extensively on the characters (not necessarily bad plot IMO), "Spectre" actually might have a way more complicated, detective-like plot, in which the characters are all part of SPECTRE's villainous plot. This is already enhanced, like I said yesterday, by a larger core-cast. Not one Bond-girl, but two Bond-girls. Not one actor who could play the villain, Mr Christoph Waltz, but perhaps another one too, Jesper Christensen (perhaps a cameo in a Bond-less PTS where Mr White is finally killed off by SPECTRE?, or perhaps he is Blofeld). Then there's an extra member of MI-6. And even a henchman. And on top of that, the actual actor playing Blofeld might have been cast already, but is being kept secret.

It's just more difficult this time around to guess what the actual villainous scheme will be. I mean, come on guys, this line will turn me in geek-mode way more than three years ago with "Skyfall": "Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE!". No revenge, no ingenious computer hack, no money laundering affair at a casino. But just something very dangerous, a terrible truth with implications to our planet perhaps?

In any case, "Spectre" could the more sinister, horrific, and cruel "Thunderball" for Daniel Craig. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see that "Spectre" will even surpass "Skyfall"s 1.1 Billion Dollar mark :-P.

Man, these are exciting times for Bond fans. It's kinda sad to say, and I don't mean to say it with any disregard for Brosnan, but the Brosnan films might look quite pale next to the quadrilogy of Bond films for Craig when "Spectre" premieres :-S.

Do we want SPECTRE to be the "rise and fall" of Spectre, or just the rise? If the latter, where does this leave Mendes?

Boy this discussions are making me nervous.
All these ideas and plot derivations and possibilities are really exciting.
This trully has all the ingredients of becoming the epic Bond movie of all times.
It will be difficult to wait one year!!

Haha, now that's it! Michael G. Wilson has shaven his head and for the first time ever he will feature as a main character!

Or, he is still hairy and will eventually only pose as Blofeld without showing his face!

    Now we're talking :-P

I say we keep the bastards once they are back. And I love the title.

I don't think they ever specifically said that Denbigh is MI6, they simply said 'Whitehall', so my guess is that just as Guy Haines was personal friend of the prime minister on the part of Quantum, Denbigh will reveal himself as Blofeld's person *inside* the government battling M over the fate of the secret service (perhaps even as part of Quantum's 'we have people everywhere' statement, which would bring White back into the picture; remember, Quantum simply makes the introductions :P).

Yes, could be. And Ludovico is telling us (source BBC) Denbigh could be from MI5 debating with MI6 about MI6's relevance today.

Great cast. Really looking forward to it. Monica Belucci should have been I. TND but better late than never. Strangely rushed and underwhelming press conference but Late than never

The BBC article in question: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/30308894

From what Scott says, I think he may be not a villain, but another ambiguous "good guy" (technically on the right side, but either misguided, incompetent or simply a pain in the neck bureaucrat). We have been having Beam in QOS, the MP in SF, now why not Denbigh? His name sounds far too soft and well, a bit posh Englishman for a villain. I cannot imagine Bond or M saying: "We have been fooled all along. Denbigh is the true enemy". And even if it was a pseudonym... Even the aliases of Blofeld had a better ring than that.

I highly doubt they will have Blofeld and Spectre come back for one film only. Where is the sense in that? Reveal enough, slowly enough, entice the viewers, win new fans, make a great film or two or three more with solid scripts ... could be quite another golden era for Bond. I think Spectre and Blofeld will be around for at least 2 more films.

Wether Blofeld turns up or not, the title alone will be enough to garner A LOT of attention.

And I love the octopus symbol in the shattered glass, seeing that part of the plot is taken from Octopussy, the short story. Also a bit reminiscent of the promotional poster for LALD.

Really excited about todays annoucement. Despite what's being said in other quarters I feel Denbeigh is a double agent within Whitehall working for SPECTRE

How can they make this resonate with the audience?

Is it from Vesper? From M (in the bulldog, as has been rumoured)? From Tracy? From Mathis?

    I wonder...

Hi I posted about the Dalton Bull dog yesterday, further backed up by Ralph Fiennes comment that "Dame Judi's ghost will still be haunting the place".

Question: If they were to re-introduce Blofeld in SPECTRE, would they have to explain Roger's helicopter-chimney-drop from FYEO? Because if yes, I wonder how that'll go.

Blofeld is an iconic villain. Jesper Christensen playing him would be a grave mistake, especially when you have Christoph Waltz in the movie! What I predict (and what I am hoping) is that Mr. White will appear only in the pre-title sequence, setting the plot in motion. The PTS could be a nod to Quantum and the rest of the movie about SPECTRE.

I am with you on that. The film opens on White, entering a secret location, to meet with Oberhauser. And that scene sets everything in motion: perhaps White and Quantum not following through on something that SPECTRE wanted. And then Hinx kills him at Oberhauser's order. (????)

Well I must say I'm very surprised. (Not disappointed though.) I was hoping for more original villains and stories but I figured it would happen as many other reboots are bringing back old villains and tweaking iconic stories. For better or worse. I hope the Plot of SPECTRE is a refreshing new take on the organization and Blofeld. I shall reserve any judgments for when the film is released. I have an open mind and wish for the best. I want a really good Bond movie that's all. I just hope it doesn't try to redo OHMSS...

Maybe Wilson is stepping back form EON.

I think there's a possibility that a different actor will be the main villain. Maybe it will be a big actor who hasn't been announced yet. During SkyFall press conference we all thought Fiennes would be the villain.
