TLD, GF, YOLT, and yesterday TB. Godess, I love TLD & TB...
Sweep continues.
The reason I ask this, 'coz I've started a Bondathon this May, and I'll end with B24 in 2015.
The World Is Not Enough

As with many of you (I'm sure) , have decided to work my way through the series. It's random, so we started today with TWINE. Looked at it afresh and noticed the constant use of deep colours - browns, gold, blues. It helped emphasis the occasional use of red. Still don't like the action sequences, apart from the PTS, but hey ho- enjoyed it more than usual. Really am not as offended by Denise Richards as most people are. My biggest gripe is the missed opportunity to make Renard more interesting. They set up this interesting premise regarding his dying senses, then barely bothered to exploit it.
We will have to do approx 2 a month to finish before Spectre arrives. Hand in the hat, to pull out the second film.....
The World Is Not Enough
The Spy Who Loved Me
Dr No
Octopussy
You Only Live Twice

Making good progress on my first EON Bondathon in many years. Wrote a little bit about TWINE above. Also enjoyed rewatching TSWLM and Dr No, but for some reason, my favourite Moore film Octopussy didn't have quite the same impact. It suddenly looked and felt too close (for comfort) in style to Moonraker.
Trying to take something new from these over familiar films. For YOLT I simply watched Connery as closely as possible, and still I can't see any difference in his performance from earlier films. He is still as charismatic as ever. And YOLT itself is epic.
Next up is Casino Royale.

Loved the fact that CR saw the tradition of voluptuous, exotic women upheld - and what beautiful women they were.
Assured first performance from Craig and a fine film to boot.
Next up - Moonraker
I've gone through periods when I've seen bits of Bond films everyday. Not the whole thing but certain scenes.
The World Is Not Enough
The Spy Who Loved Me
Dr No
Octopussy
You Only Live Twice
Casino Royale
Moonraker

Well, Moonraker has come and gone. Interesting to note, apart from the bondala business the first 60 or 70 minutes isn't too bad.
And when the problems set in I'm a lot less aggrieved at the silly jokes (because that's the way Cubby thought the audiences would be entertained back then - just part of the package), than I am the sloppy fight choreography. Moore isn't the nimblest of movers, and Richard Keil is clearly awkward when he has to appear dangerous. So we have these half hearted fight sequences that should never ever be there in a series that gained it's reputation on brutal and painful fisty cuffs.
I was dismayed to see that the only person who put their all into the punch ups, was Lois Chiles. Well done that girl.
Still the funniest double entendre in the entire series goes to Q and his 'I think he's attempting re-entry' quip. I do like to think that dear old Desmond Llewelyn didn't realise it was a joke, but I suppose he probably did.
Next up - Aaaah ah ah ah The Living Daylights....
Me too. If he didn't, that would make him all the more endearing :)
My Bondathon:
Watching each of Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig's second Bond films and see how well they improved from the first...
1. From Russia With Love
2. The Man With The Golden Gun
3. Licence To Kill
4. Tomorrow never Dies
5. Quantum of Solace
Wow. You must be possessed.
One a day is a bit extreme though... Personally I try to limit myself to watching only three or four a month, and usually I make an effort to watch all the other 22 before I watch the same one again. A huge ever ongoing "Bondathon cycle" of sorts. That way they stay reasonably fresh...
I plan to watch THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS or GOLDFINGER soon. Can't decide. Maybe having a specific watchlist would be beneficial in the future.
Hot damn get to it.

something else that struck me about Moonraker. There are 3 or 4 scenes that are really quite suspenseful. More so than the film really deserved. Anyways...
The Living Daylights, Mr Dalton step forward. Nothing new to add other than I can't recall his hair being quite as long as it is, but I guess that's more to do with the 80s in general.
Still not entirely convinced by TD but he's great in the action scenes.
Next up.....Die Another Day
Comfortable in the fight scenes, he moves awkwardly ? I can't put
My finger on the reason, but there is something.
