    Does anyone else remember the concept design for (I think a DVD collection, possibly Blu-Ray) which was based on the cylinder of a gun. It was Gold, I think it fanned out, and the discs went in each of the six chambers? I remember thinking it would be a great collectors item had it been made.

    I truly hope Fox/Sony will release all Bond films in such beautiful steelbooks. Because the steelbooks don't have this ugly blue horizontal line on top. They just have the poster art. As simple as that..

    I only have SKYFALL in the steel book version. I had bought the original releases on blu-ray when they were first released that didn't even contain individual cases. Just some of the films in a flip out cardboard case.Then they started releasing the ones I didn't have in individual cases (before the box set was released). Then when the boxset was released I bought that to get the remaining ones that didn't have individual releases upto that time. The steelbooks are much nicer than the individual blue cased releases but having bought the box set when it was first released I think I will just stick to that. I am not double-triple dipping for steelbooks. Obviously when SPECTRE gets released I would choose the steelbook version over the less collectible blue case version.

    I did made fan covers of other "Non-Bond" films that SF hasn't got the license rights to yet or unable to in the future. I hope you do like them as well.

    Is there a "favorite looking BD-transfer"-poll, somewhere? Personally, I think TB to DAF looks far the best. Full 2.35.1 widescreen and Lowry 4K transfers. Wish all Bond movies looked like that.

    Yeah, from Dr.No to MR, IIRC. But I still think TB, YOLT, OHMSS and DAF look more stellar compared to the others.

    I've never gotten the appeal of the steelbooks myself. Maybe it's because I'm not the collecting sort, but they've just never really rattled my cage, so to speak.

    It depends on the design on the steelbook. I personally hate those screamy poster designs on the Transformers or Avengers steelbooks. That's different with the Bond steelbooks. Their designs are just simple, elegant, by using poster design that's not screaming "Yeah bro! This movie is the best, and you need to stick it in your head!".

    What I personally find less appealing are these:

    It's like Sony succeeded in forcing us to see "blue" only because of this Sony designed BluRay-system. Like they force it on us. It never was the case with ordinary DVD-casings.

    I buy Blu-rays for the films themselves, so a little pomp in the packaging does nothing for me. The real prize is inside.

    Try a program called Xilisoft video converter. You can take the file and covert it to a more manageable Mp4 file designed for Apple. It cuts the file size considerably. You can actually convert it to any video type you want.

    Cool, thanks @TripAces! At the moment I have a different problem though. My little Eee PC apparently doesn´t play blu rays from a portable drive. It seems I´d need a stronger processor or something like that before I can think of putting blu rays on hard drive.

    Now Universal take over the work from Fox, i hope on 2 or 3 disc MGM/Universal digibooks. To get idea how there can style Casino Royale see les miserables as example who is not not 100 years releated, a litle bit smaller and use the teaser poster. If not for more bonus material, the extra disc or mabey another extra disc can be used for unreleased music.

    Example of Die Another Day:

    DAD - 3 (2 Disc BD + CD) and 4 disc (2 disc BD + CD + Disc 2 SE dvd.).
    Disc 1 wil updated with DTS-HD MA 7.1:
    Extra's on disc 1: Audiocommentary 1: Lee Tamahori / Michael G. Wilson (SE, UE, BD) Audiocommentary 2: Pierce Brosnan Rosamund Spike (SE, UE, BD)

    25 minutes doc: Happy Anniversary Mr. Bond. The missing documentry broadcast on same day as Shaken Not Stirred On Ice.

    Fox take over all work from Universal/Paramount with animated movies of dreamworks (There already start with that very soon, disapointed kind of bonus material and since it offcial to much use of Dreamworks music box.) Universal wil make the documentry's and some part of production. You possible already notice a lot of same crew members who work on both Spectre and Mi5. Spectre trailer is promoted in cinema's with Furious 7. Mi5 is released earlier.

    We know about the problems with MGM need money, the long delay of Bond 23. CR was released by Sony, QOS an Skyfall by Fox and on this moment it look like DVD and BD release wil be done by Sony again. I think this is because Fox whant step down with DVD/BD. You mabey notice some released not be released in The Netherlands like Speed 2 (Real Fox movie), much later or without bonus material. American Beauty original Paramount movie be released by Universal without bonus material on Dutch release. But also Amistad Universal/Dreamworks movie directed by Steven Spielberg released was till my suprise and disapointed stil released by Universal and not get bonus material. I thnk this was exeption Universal stil own movie, but losing the right of extra's to dreamworks/previous material is from Fox now.

    With James Bond, Universal wil make money and i think if this release new BD's that Fox stil be part of it. Almoost everthing is like i said made/produced by Fox and moost on Die Another Day (This was MGM/Fox production). Also keep in mind Universal is already partner of MGM because of Terminator 2 (Terminator 5 is Paramount movie, mean released by Universal too.). Terminator 1 and 3 be from Sony.

    It be only confirmd SPECTRE DVD and BD wil be released under the flag of
    Sony (Production of MGM/SONY/UNIVERSAL) in The Netherlands (Dutch, Belgium,France Italian, Germany and mabey Spanish release. I take Salt BD as example) The fake barcode of dvd and BD is already credit on website were you can buy BD/DVD's and moost of time this later turn in to France release when the real Dutch popup.

    Overall i think Fox, because exept the first 2 releases of CR (The one from 50 set and double pack with QOS are from Fox.) and first release of Spectre it be Fox.

    The reason why MGM let Fox handle the video releases was because of the relationship between MGM and Sony that didn't work out in terms of home entertainment distributonship. If Fox doesn't renew the contract, I would like to see either Universal or Warner Bros. handle the distribution.

    I was flabbergasted when I pressed play to re-visit one of those documentaries and saw that it was in blurry standard definition, worse even. Standard definition looks good by comparison. Why do put in the effort for HD upgrades for some but not others? Odd and lazy.

    Do you think there could be a new bluray collection of all 24 bond films once SPECTRE is released in the format. It's my 21st in November and I don't know whether to get the current boxset then or wait and see if another set is released with skyfall and SPECTRE included. Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.
