I am suprised that Dr No be that low and Thunderball so high.
Also i hoped/expect Yolt credit after Spy or other way around.
AVTAK is way to dark for me and i wil at in list with Octopussy, TLD and LTK as one of my last favorites with LTK less worse of them. So i wil at LTK earlier on 14 and AVTAK on 23. For Your Eyes Only is also not realy favorite of me, the dark era already start there.. The Man With The Golden Gun i wil at earlier on place of LALD.
My sentiments exactly, FoxRox! My Top 3 would be: 1) Skyfall, 2) GoldenEye, 3) Casino Royale
The fact that a Maurice Binder didn't win, and that many of them were eliminated as early as they were, is to me a travesty.
I quite agree.
Maurice Binder may have invented the projection of and onto female shapes, which became iconic for the Bond films, yet in retrospect only a few of his titles stand up to the best of Kleinman's. I think the final result is perfectly OK and would have given the top three shared 1st place. And that is a huge honor for Binder's TSWLM.
I very much like Kleinman's titles, too, but they do feel cluttered and the CGI women sometimes put me off. It's all about the silhouettes!
To say it is merely "sentimental" does not wash- I was born in the 90s, yet I prefer the work of Binder.
But as it is, I agree with @zebrafish in that these newer sequences mostly look better by comparison, and that if I had voted for the older ones, it would have been out of sentimentality.
I wonder, though, how many votes went to title sequences because the voters liked the movies so much.
Ditto. Goldeneye was right on the edge for me....after that every one has felt wanting in this respect.
With the more traditional ones, its more than just a title sequence. I find myself looking forward to the mini spectacle while the more contemporary ones to me are "just another title sequence".
