But how do you know this? If you purely base this on Newman's SF score, I do understand why you would say this. But if he's aware of all the criticism that surrounded it, don't you think SP's score could be improved upon just a little bit? Did the leaks reveal anything about the musical direction?
Put together the fleeting, unimaginative and strained odd few bars of the bond theme we had in SF and it doesn't look good. Its how he does his stuff, and Mendes likes it.
I really, REALLY hope you are right. The less Bond theme, the better!
He was in Rome. Here you can see him dining after filming with Monica Belluci. Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig were also there:
And he was filming at the funeral scene. You can even see his back in the teaser trailer. He's the man left of Bond, with his two Bodyguards behind him:
I'm assuming this is irony.
Him dining doesn't exactly count as seeing him "on set". The shot of the back of his head just backs up what I said - other than the shaded views (possibly at the funeral and the SPECTRE meeting) we've not seen a clear view of him filming or on film yet

Casino Royale's score, for example, was far from generic, yet the Bond theme was mostly absent.
I can excuse Casino Royale's score because Bond earned the theme by the end. 2 movies later it's still reserved for the ending. It's time to stop keeping it hidden. Nobody is saying us it like it was in TND, just use it when Bond is doing something kickass. Enough of this subtly crap. Bond isn't subtle.
It isn't. Ok, maybe using the Bond theme exactly once in the film is better than not using it at all, but I really don't want to hear it more than one time.
The Bond theme, the gunbarrell sequence, Q, Miss Moneypenny, the gadgets, the vodka martini line and Bond's introduction are not what made me a Bond fan.
I would rather listen to new material composed by a great composer (like in SF and hopefully Spectre), than to boring overuse of the Bond theme (like in TND).
You can still have new material while incorporating the Bond theme. Look at Barry's body of work.
But it seems Campbell was saving it for end of film, when Bond had evolved into Bond, so can forgive just that once, but no excuse for the last two films.
All 3 films though, I think would have been more enjoyable with judicious, timely use of the Theme.
Good sign at least that SP worked the Theme into it's teaser trailer
I know this because Newman on his best day is nowhere near as talented as Barry is on his worst day. Newman's aware of the criticisms for SF but that doesn't mean he cares enough to do what's needed and besides, the score to OHMSS is in a league of it's own. Newman isn't coming anywhere close to such perfection.
Normally you could pre order them at this point. No such thing now, so its not clear.
A clapperboard was released on March 21st(Saturday) and the trailer on March 27th (Friday.
They released the latest clapperboard also on a Saturday, possibly this is a nod to a trailer.
They could be filming at the London City Hall again.
