They already did The Living Daylights, didn't they? But I would love them for SPECTRE/Bond 25.

I really enjoyed the A-ha TLD track. Seemed to fit really well. I still have my 7 inch single of it somewhere in the house. They are another act I wouldn't be against seeing back to do a new tune. Why not? There's no set precedent for a Bond theme is there, from Bassey to Cornell and Tom Jones to Madonna there is quite a difference. Going with a current popular artist is all well and good but, for me, one of the best tunes is You Know My Name. A perfect fit for Craig's first outing. I would love to see something similar but, as I'm sure we all know, the artist will already have been chosen and the song more or less recorded.

This topic has really shown the two criteria of Bond fans, The progressive and the regressive.

For some reason, the one in that video is a sped-up version. The original is on YouTube, anyway.

Somewhat ironically their 'newer' material seems far more like Bond song territory than their 1980's output...
Listen to "Summer moved on" from 2000.

I want Duran Duran if EON one day decides to go for a retro-band who has already done a Bond song. They can still do a good song if given a chance.

I would prefer fresh sound and fresh talent vs washed up talent. The artist selected represents the perception of the entry. Sam Smith whomever that is is not the perception Bond needs worldwide.. Duran Duran and a-ha are dated and over..

There are so many talented artists out there both British and non-British that would spark interest. Bassey being the one exception that is too iconic and respected not to consider although after Adele I don't now that's realistic.

Not the new SPECTRE title song :)

A bit like Waltz saying he's 'definitely not Blofeld'.

  • Except the Goulding rumour he seemed sure enough about it. Waltz is an Oscar winning actor, he can fake whatever answer regarding Blofeld while still looking believable.

I feel the AM rumours being more "accurate" than any other seen so far, they've not even been denied yet.

Smith didn't seem convincing at all to me. Plus, you don't need to be an actor to lie.

I wouldn't mind if instead of a song, we got a great rocking instrumental.

We're not going to get anything that won't chart in the top 40. Has been acts and instrumentals seem extremely unlikely.

I didn't say it was likely, only what I'd like. :D

Of course you can't tell he wasn't lying, anyone can lie, i only thought his answering to the question was apparently genuine.

Let that be a lesson to any prat who tries to screw one over with their money. On a more serious note, I liked the combined Casino Royale and Hannibal nods.

Wow! That is a terribly explicit music video.

Rhianna is certainly not my cup of tea, so I wouldn't have seen this if hadn't been posted here. Thx for sharing.

Too way out for me too, but tone her down, give her a great melody like Diamonds, and you would have a Bond title track that would likely be a big hit. I remember when Craig was asked in some interview to choose between Rhianna and Beyonce for the title track, he quickly chose Rhianna because she was "dirtier." At this point, I'll take anyone but Smith.

Goulding yet another singer the press jumped on and said was amazing, I caught one of her performances on TV sometime back and wondered what the hell was going on.

I've given up on the music buying public when they champion underwhelming muzak like this. If Babs & MGW has given the job to this also ran over one of Britain's currently best bands who would have killed it, I'll know that Bond themes are long past me caring about anymore.

Music is my biggest passion alongside films and while some of you will take sub standard underwhelming songs that won't hold up outside of the credits (Adele) I want something with balls please.

Please tell me this is not so, Smith was bad enough but if it's her, I'll be taking ear plugs for the opening credits.

So are we taking this at face value, because 'Sam Smith' said it in a radio interview and it has now been subsequently picked up by the press? I didn't realise we were that gullible guys. He's mates with Goulding, if it were her gig, he's hardly going to nonchalantly out her, is he?

Maybe it'll be a Goulding/Smith duet. I'd be OK with that.
I'm sick of typical Bond songs. I want a main title song that sounds nothing like any Bond song before!

Are you saying that "You Know My Name" and "Another Way to Die" were typical Bond songs?
  • Even if Sam knew who it was, he definitely wouldn't just tell the press.

It might not be either but I'm getting the distinct whiff of something a number of us is not going to like.

I want it to be The Arctic Monkeys but I've a feeling they'll be regarded as not bankable enough and they'll be looking for something globally massive like Adele and Skyfall.
