    It's been a while since I've contributed to this list. Here goes (I've highlighted the biggest moves, given recent viewings):

    1 frwl
    2 tb
    3 tswlm
    4 cr
    5 sf (+6)
    6 dn (+7)

    7 ohmss
    8 op
    9 ge
    10 tld
    11 ltk
    12 gf (-7)
    13 lald
    14 tmwtgg (+2)
    15 qos
    16 fyeo (-4)
    17 tnd
    18 daf
    19 yolt
    20 mr
    21 avtak
    22 dad
    23 twine

    Wow, SF has become a favourite for you no :-P?

    I've always liked it. Since I first saw it.

    I've been intentionally ranking it lower up to now to compensate for an automatic positive bias that I know inevitably exists (with everyone, including me) since it is the more recent and modern Bond film....Now that SP is almost with us (and 3 long years have passed) I am moving it up closer to where I personally think it belongs.

    It is unquestionably a very entertaining, fast paced, beautifully shot Bond film, with excellent acting performances by all concerned (and I think the score is excellent too - although I realize that is a controversial opinion). I agree with those who question its plot holes and contrivances (particularly with respect to Silva) but that does not stop my enjoyment of all the other aspects, which are first class imho.

    My updated list as of July 3rd 2015. A bigger update as compared to my ranking from February. I'm curious what you think of it :-):

    Top quality films!!!:
    01 --> 9.5/10 --> 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'
    02 --> 9.3/10 --> 'From Russia With Love'
    03 --> 9.0/10 --> 'Skyfall'
    04 --> 8.8/10 --> 'Casino Royale'
    05 --> 8.3/10 --> 'Thunderball'
    06 --> 8.0/10 --> 'License To Kill' (+4)

    Good films!:
    07 --> 7.6/10 --> 'Octopussy' (+1)
    08 --> 7.5/10 --> 'The Living Daylights' (+1)
    09 --> 7.4/10 --> 'The World Is Not Enough' (+3)
    10 --> 7.1/10 --> 'For Your Eyes Only' (-4)
    11 --> 7.0/10 --> 'Doctor No' (-4)

    Average films:
    12 --> 6.7/10 --> 'Goldfinger' (-1)
    13 --> 6.5/10 --> 'The Man With The Golden Gun'
    14 --> 6.3/10 --> 'Quantum Of Solace'
    15 --> 6.1/10 --> 'The Spy Who Loved Me'
    16 --> 6.0/10 --> 'Live And Let Die'
    17 --> 5.7/10 --> 'Never Say Never Again' (non-EON)

    Fun stuff for Bond nerds, but as a standalone film bad and sometimes even groce!:
    18 --> 5.4/10 --> 'Diamonds Are Forever' (+1)
    19 --> 5.1/10 --> 'Moonraker' (-1)
    20 --> 4.8/10 --> 'GoldenEye' (+2)
    21 --> 4.5/10 --> 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (-1)
    22 --> 4.2/10 --> 'You Only Live Twice' (-2)
    23 --> 3.4/10 --> 'A View To A Kill'
    24 --> 2.8/10 --> 'Die Another Day'
    25 --> 1.2/10 --> 'Casino Royale' (non-EON)

    I just saw it. Sjee, we should watch a marathon together @royale65 hehe :-P. Good to see that my BOTTOM 7 doesn't make your TOP 10 either.

    I'm liking the top 6 @Gustav_Graves, especially the upward move of LTK. Replace TWINE with GE, and I'd be happier.

    @w2bond

    Bravo! It appears I have the same top three ignoring specific order from the forum ranking points and the same top four from the general population list.

    I'm thrilled with the recent resurgence of positive Skyfall rankings. I returned to it before my most recent rankings after several months without watching and it was right on the heels of Casino Royale for the top spot in my rankings.

    Trust me @Mansfield, SF is a guaranteed classic evergreen ;-). What GF is to FRWL, is SF to CR :-P: People will continue loving it right into 2037 when the Bond franchise will celebrate its 75th anniversary :-P.

    Good list overall @Gustav_Graves, but I am always disappointed when Dr No is left out of top 10. Such a classic film on so many levels, one of the more underrated films in the series, and a given top 5 for me.

    I would put it all on red for Skyfall being this generation's Goldfinger. >:D<

    Your rankings have a unique flavor. I can only imagine how much it pains you to have Die Another Day in last place for EON Productions; perhaps that's why you have 1967's Casino Royale? ;) I see you are giving The World Is Not Enough the respect [I think] it deserves. Robert Ebert gave a fantastic review that sums up my interest in the film well. You also gave For Your Eyes Only a similar slide to my own in my most recent viewing.

    Keep giving Goldfinger and Goldeneye a chance. Even though the latter is in danger of falling to SPECTRE in my rankings if it delivers the goods, I will always view it favorably for its execution of modernizing Bond while also providing depth of character to the cast.
  • @Mansfield, that analogy is definitely plausible, but it's a little funny for me, since I often argue with a fellow Bond fan (not on here) who prefers FRWL and SF, while I prefer GF and CR.

    I give Casino Royale a slight nod between the two. The Goldfinger-Skyfall analogy is more of prediction rather than a preference. It was a connection a few members on here and myself were discussing in the old 'Has Skyfall lost its gloss/appeal' thread. Goldfinger was the series' major breakthrough to raise it into the stratosphere of global icon. It is the thought of some of us that Skyfall is the second coming of Goldfinger if you will. When analyzing the box office figured coupled with the creative effects it is having on the series moving forward, the parallels are definitely present. Only time will tell how Skyfall is remembered in a few decades, but if history offers any lesson, it can be on something of the order of Goldfinger.

    Solely looking at that discussion in the context of this topic, the two certainly appear to carry a similar value in this community. It is much too soon to make any kind of affirmation about their meaning to the series, but both films seem to be on the same level in terms of rankings and significance to the direction of future productions.

    Here's my rankings from top to bottom. I'm set in my ways when it comes to the top five and bottom five. The rest could change places with each other tomorrow. There's a couple of films higher in my list, this is because of the circumstances l saw these films in!

    Tomorrow Never Dies
    The World Is Not Enough

    I have never thought it to be as bad a film as everyone says it is, but I can't say I can see what anyone would see in it either. It's always just stuck me as quite naff and uninspired.

    I always thought TSWLM was a blatant rip-off of YOLT and afraid that OP didn't bring anything new to the table, just a routine adventure!

    I don't know whether Dr No is underrated. Critics and the general public do seem to have a fairly high opinion of the film - not least because it contains possibly THE most remembered scene in the series.

    I feel guilty about leaving YOLT out of the top 10. Despite it's flaws there's loads of memorable/iconic aspects to it - not to mention that it's extremely entertaining.

    Spot on BAIN - Glad to welcome @Lazzers and his YOLT love. Not enough of it here.

    Where would the series be without YOLT's ninjas and Little Nellie and volcano and crack head villain and huuuuuge magnet and very sexiful girls and piranhas and rooftop punch up and and...everything else that makes YOLT a complete joy. ;-)

    Yes, it is highly rated by the general public, but for the wrong reasons in my opinion. It's described as the film which "started it all", and that is why it needs to be fondly remembered. For me it is more than the chracter's debut on the movie screen, it is one of the best in general. Adding to that many people say it is "not a proper Bond film" because it didn't have many of te "Bondian features" that was introduced in Goldfinger, (the same unfortunaltely applies to FRWL) which I think is bollocks. So yeah, I'd say it is underrated. On this forum it certainly is!

    DN and FRWL are indeed top 5 Bonds. They are close to Fleming, humorous in parts yet serious in tone, well directed, stylish taut thrillers. Plus they feature Connery at the top of his game.
