    I'm sure there will be eventually. The recent boxset was brought out for the 50th anniversary, with a space for Skyfall. I'm sure there'll be another, although I'd be surprised if it was any time soon really. I, myself, am happy with the 50th one and have no problem buying Spectre separately.

    I wouldn't hold out for a new box set. Frankly, many of us popped the discs out of the 50th anniversary "book" anyway and put them in proper cases (with custom covers) so really its more about than bulk pricing that the "edition".

    Recently I've updated my James Bond steelbook collection with the very rare MediaMarkt Exclusive steelbook from "Casino Royale". I had to pay quite a bit for it, but I think my collection looks much better now. What do you guys think?

    Personally I disagree with those who don't like steelbooks. What I instantly like about steelbooks is the appeal they have when looking at the front. The front design basically always features original poster art. But the front covers never become too busy, with too many fonts and text. They stay minimalistic, hence rather classy. Just look at these:

    Steelbooks rust and are much too heavy and clonk when they touch one another and when they are broken you can´t replace them. Blue plastic casings rock! After all, it´s called blue ray, not steel ray.

    Nice Bond collection, GG! My eye is always drawn to that Goldeneye cover, it's one of my favorites.

    The only Bond movie available on blu-ray without an audio commentary is QOS. The completist in me finds that irksome. If AVTAK and DAD can have a couple of audio commentaries, surely QOS can one.

    QoS was a load of disappointment special features wise.

    Does anyone here own both the CR collector's edition blu-ray and the CR blu-ray included in the Bond 50 set? Am I crazy or does the Bond 50 disc not have one of the two commentaries in the collector's set?

    I haven´t tried the Bond discs yet, but Makemkv won´t load some of my other brs. It transferred Prometheus fine, but didn´t open Godzilla and Blackhat. Perhaps because of some copy protection? Does anyone of you guys know how to get around such a problem?

    Not for sure why it wouldn't work for the other films. Perhaps check the makemkv forum for help with that one.

    The commentaries on Casino Royale Blurays are as follows:

    Bond 50 Edition: Audio Commentary with Crew

    Casino Royal Collector's Edition:
    - Bonus View Picture-in-Picture Visual Commentary with Director & Producer
    - Audio Commentary with Crew

    I really enjoyed the visual commentary. It's got Martin Campbell and Michael Wilson talking casually about throughout the film, with a small video overlaying the film.

    The only thing I dislike about the collector's edition is how they load it up with previews that you must skip through when you begin the disc. That is where having the digital copy with makemkv comes in handy. No more sitting through that bs.

    just a quick question for all. I've been wanting to buy the 50th anniversary blu ray collection for a while now. I own the digital remaster set the came out around 2005. is the quality of the films better in blu-ray? or does the quality does not differ that much?

    I would definitely go for the Blu-Ray. The Connery films look like films that take place in the 60s, but were shot now.

    If there ever was a recommendation to go for the blu rays, it's the Bond films. I was sceptical before, but I guarantee you, you haven't seen the films in such a quality.

    The remaining films look excellent compared to the old dvds. It's almost unwatchable to me now when I go back to DVD and compare it. You can see so much more detail in 1080p. 4k will be even more amazing when they release the films in that format. Obviously, CR, QOS, and SF look amazing on bluray too! You won't be disappointed!
