Tomorrow, we will be the 11th of november 2011, at 11am... aka 11/11/11 11:11am...

So will the earth explode in a few hours...

I feel sorry for our Australian members on MI6 which will look at their watch closely for the last 30 minutes before Hour-H...

But, as you may well know, it is already 11:11 am on 11/11/11 in one time zone, and no words yet of the Apocalyspe...

Too right, mate. Let's not forget all those who've fought for us and died for us in wartime.

On 11-11 in The Netherlands (and Belgium, France) it is ''Sintmaarten'' for kids til the age of 12-14 with a older brother of sister or one/two parents. Like Hollyween children go on the streets (in the late afternoon.) with some light from self made Lantern, must sing a song and get candy, freut or money. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Martin's_Day

Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but it's actually 11/11/2011. It's been a good 2,000 years since the year 11 AD. :p

And if the world didn't end on 11/11/1111, I think we'll get past 2011.

Men and crackpots have been predicting the end of the world since the Dark Ages. The planet is gonna be around until the sun goes Supernova. About 1 million years or so...anyway man will probably be long gone anyway. Maybe we will be replaced by some other lifeform. something else will evolve and we will be no more like the dinosaurs. will it happen in 2011? I doubt it. I mean I wouldn't be making any bucket list just yet...

    NZ All good here
  • But would Universal Armageddon be such a bad thing though, some would argue

The issue is irrelevant because the world won't end tomorrow - can't end tomorrow, see?

We've been here for billions of years and will continue to exist for some time to come, probably Billions more, but don't quote me on that

Probably many many many years from now and James Bond 24,578,259 has just been released in theaters and the Washington Redskins win the Super Bowl again, there may be a genuine threat but until then it's all a load of chicken litter

With the numbers here there was something similar in the recent past but I can't recall quite what it was, 12-34 and 56 seconds, on the 7th of the 8th month and year ending in 9 or thereabouts , 'something bad was supposed to occur'

needless to say, nothing happened :L

I know... Why I keep listening to his speeches, I don't know.

I have lots of respect for the soldiers of WW1 and other wars... But not enough to be interested in Sarko's endless speeches.

Indeed my friends. Lest we forget.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
    In Flanders fields.

The other day I spoke to a veteran of the Second World War who was selling poppies. I mentioned to him casually that I had had a hard time finding poppies this year. He simply responded by telling me that most of the Second World War Vets are getting too old for this. They're no longer in the shape to sit and sell poppies all day.

I think this was the first time it really hit me. The fact that one of the greatest generations is on its way out.

Last year I read about how the last surviving Vet of WWI had passed. I thought I'd need to cherish the few years left with veterans of WWII. I suppose their time is coming sooner than I'd hoped as well. I will never forget them.

I always take a moment today to remember my Grandfather. He was an Italian soldier caught in the mess caused by Mussolini. Sadly, my Grandfather passed before I got to know the real details of his fight. He wasn't big on talking about the war anyway. To this day all I know is that he saw some combat before being captured and held for three years by the Nazis. It is because of his strength and perseverance that I'm here today.

My Grandmother was shot by an American soldier, accidentally, as he was cleaning his rifle. She recently told me her home was also destroyed during the Second World War.

I'll never forget the sacrifices taken by the soldiers, the fights put up by the innocent, just to survive. I can thank my lucky stars I'm here today because of my Grandparents, and because of the sacrifices made by men and women I don't even know.

    Lest we forget...
