    After all the Fleming's I'm now working my way through the Gardner's. Just started
    Role of Honour, ( I have read them before but long ago) Obviously they're not as
    entertaining as Fleming's but I'm still enjoying them.

    I am a bit intrigued by the upcoming Horowitz novel as well, with its connections to Fleming.

    I'm actually reading Never Dream of Dying as well, for the first time in 13 years I think. Half way through, and not a very good read. There're a lot of chapters about other characters than Bond, which I find uninteresting.

    I was hoping for more, since Doubleshot was such a good read last week.

    The Man With the Golden Gun.

    Enjoying it way better then when I first read it, about a decade ago. First act is brilliant. I'm still waiting for EON to adapt this part into a movie PTS.

    I just read 'Solo' on holiday. Boyd creates a very Flemingesque continuation novel that was very entertaining and ties in with the previous official 14 books. After the dissapointment of Carte Blanche (a modern day suposedly progressive bore) it was a refreshing read.

    Just finished the FYEO short story collection that I've been reading on holiday. Loved it even more this time around, and my appreciation of QOS has grown further. I wish Fleming had done more short stories, as he has a really apt for this narrative style.

    My favourites from this collection are Risico and QOS.

    Yep. The Hildebrand Raireity is also class.

    I'll be reading Trigger Mortis on the 8th!

    I love the film, but It isn t that faithful after all.

    Some observations I had forgotten about; Bond s contact in Jamaica is named Da Silva. Bond bought a car in 1933, meaning he was probably an adult even back then.
    The opening scene, and the part in the first chapter where he scans his room for intruders are both incorporated in the film version of Dr No, at the very beginning. He was an MI6 agent even before the world war.

    Bulgarians are stupid, but obedient, haha!

    Easily still a top five Bond novel.

    LIVE AND LET DIE

    This is better than I remember. Had forgotten the name of Mr Big s organization , Black Widow. ( Yes, he works for SMERSH too, like Le Chiffre and Adolph Gettler and the guy who cut Bond s hand in CR, the proto-Mr White.)

    First appearance of the beautiful Miss Moneypenny, and first mention of Q is as the guy who got Bond a skin transplant from his own hairy upper arm.

    It is indeed a brilliant novel.....The diving section is enthralling.

    Just finished the Nurburgring section of Trigger Mortis , if the rest of the book is as good as that we've got a classic on our hands.

    Just finished up on Live and Let Die as well, @Thunderfinger. Pace of the novel is phenomenal. Probably the most action-packed story by Fleming.

    "... Bond's first tears since his childhood". Brilliant.

    Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz. As with his Sherlock Holmes novel, The House of Silk (waiting for Moriarty to come out in paperback), Mr Horowitz has come up with the goods. Third of the way through and loving it. In fact I'm just going to read a bit more now…

    Two thirds into Goldfinger, wanted to refresh my memories of it before taking on Trigger Mortis. Not my favourite by Fleming, there's a little too much coincidence and happenstance, which of course is Flemings whole idea, I just don't think it makes for a very compelling story.

    Finally made a start on the Bond novels. As I've mentioned before, I have never read any of them but have always had the intention to. So, I have only just started with Casino Royale and have read the first 20 pages on the way to work this morning on my kindle. I do have all the actual books, some more than once, but they are currently packed away due to storage issues at home (along with hundreds of other items I currently don't have space for). Therefore, I have bought them all again and they're no on my kindle. Anyway, all good so far.

    Here it is established that the 00 section is a group of three, that may be ordered to kill. Bond is the senior member, and signs his papers with "7". The other two are 008 (a certain Bill) and 0011, who has been missing for two months.

    Bond is 37 years old, meaning he was born 1917, give or take a year.

    It is further cemented that Bernard Lee was perhaps the best cast actor in the Bond series, one of the very few that is spot on regarding the source material.

    It would be great if everybody could post their TM comments in the TM thread because hopefully, IFP will pick up how the fans feel and a this could make a series deal more likely.
    I do think that it was pressure from the fans that made them go to him in the first place.
