Where have all the beautiful Bond girls gone?

So it's time the Bond girls start being real women again, real sexy women not afraid of showing some flesh...
Those are not real women. I've never met a woman who felt the need to parade around showing flesh simply to appease men. Tell me, would you have any objections to walking around shirtless for the entertainment of women? And if you would, please enlighten me as to why you have this expectation that women walk around unafraid to show some flesh.

None at all. In fact, I'd love it.

Bond is not a sexual object, in reality it's the Bond girls who should be sexual objects to please the male audience. So no, Bond should not be shirtless all the time, and the films should not have lingering shots of his body when he is shirtless. If there is anyone in Bond films who should show flesh on regular occasions it's the Bond girls. The male audience is the one who should be please and who should salivate infront of utterly sexy and glamarous shots of Bond girls showing flesh, or at the very least lingering shots of them in very sexy, fashionable and glamourous dresses. I don't say that the female audience cannot enjoy Bond films, but the primary audience to please is the male audience, thus Bond girls should display their beauty and be the sexiest women on the planet.

And as Shark, I have no objection of walking shirtless for entertainment of women. But the women of this world should do the same... especially the Bond girls who should be models for women on how to be sexy, glamorous and shine like a million sun, and for the males on this earth to salivate while watching Bond films.

To all the Vesper haters, I,m pretty sure if you had a girlfriend who looked like that you'd be getting quite alot of envious looks. The introductory train sequence was so well written by Haggis. Nice to have a Bond girl who can actually act and look good unless you prefer the likes of Tanya "ooh James dont leave me" Roberts

I don't understand the concern. The modern Bond girls are much more attractive than the earlier Bond woman.

And by the previous statement, I'm using the earlier Bond women of Rosa Klebb, the Swiss Gatekeeper and Irma Bunt as a basis of comparison.

wheras these days we only have M. I don't know, at least in yesteryear you got some variation.

Anyway, I agree with all of those who like hits 'n tips, if you know what I mean.

What if we had a Bond film like OHMSS, where most of the women you describe are in a mountain-top hideaway where temperatures regularly drop below freezing? Should they show flesh then?

Have you ever salivated when a woman walked past? If so, what happened next?

    LOL.

It was some of the most clumsy, obvious, smug, self-conscious, overly-written dialogue I've ever seen. Came off like a bad stage play, or those bleeding Nescafe ads from the 80s.

I don't salivate to any woman that walks past me on the street. Because none of them are worth my attention. No hips, no arse, no tits, no lips... When women will be women again, then maybe some of them will grab my attention when one walks by. So that's why Bond girls should act and be like women, the sexiest women on earth, so that the women and girls on this earth will also be women again. This overly-feminist society is taking all the women out of this world... So I hope these women will return one day... Walking down the street is boring nowadays... Almost no woman to look at now...

Well, if you did, I'm sure they wouldn't like it - so much so that they'd likely slap you, or drive a stilletto into your crotch. Not because they're ardent feminists, but because it just makes them uncomfortable.
Because none of them are worth my attention.
That, it has to be said, is the height of arrogance.

If none of the women who walk past you on the street are worth your attention, then it stands to reason that you do not talk or interact with them. And if you do not talk or interact with them, then it stands to reason that you do not know how real women act. And if you do not know how real women act, then it stands to reason that you are in no position to judge the way Bond Girls should act.

Please. I do intereact with women, I do talk to them. I am just saying that women aren't women anymore. They seem are too shy, too afraid of showing their feminity and beauty... I say it's time for the Bond girls to act like women again, to show their beauty, to be sexy and glamourous, to please the male audience. Maybe then will women of this earth won't be afraid to be more feminine.

What I am saying that in the street, no women will shine more than others, none of them will grab your attention...

I'm sorry, but am I understanding your argument correctly here? I've read it half a dozen times just to be sure, and this is what I'm seeing: "pleasing a male audience is a feminine thing to do", and that directly implies that "to please a man is to be a woman", which has to be one of the most sexist, chauvanistic and borderline misogynistic things that I have ever heard.

Wild theories again from you, as I am not sexist, misogynist at all in real life. I have a girlfriend, if that surprises you... Do I have to be sexist in real life to want Bond girls to show some flesh, to be sexy and glamourous?? Do I have to be a professional killer in real life to be a fan of James Bond?

    Wild theories?

I direct your attention to this sentence:

I say it's time for the Bond girls to act like women again, to show their beauty, to be sexy and glamourous, to please the male audience.

    Now, follow the dots:

    1) You say Bond Girls should act like women.
    2) You say women should show their beauty.
    3) You say women should be sexy and glamourous.

    And here's the kicker:

    4) Your post suggests that women who show the beauty and who are sexy and glamourous, please male audiences.

Therefore, since these four points logically flow into one another, you are effectively saying that women should please men; that the definition of being a woman is pleasing a man.

What other meaning is there in this? Your post suggests that you are incredibly sexist, and your denial implies that you seem to think that this kind of behaviour is somehow acceptable.

If you are not sexist, perhaps you could re-word your post in such a way that it does not suggest sexism on your part.

    Corrected.

Bond films are traditionally unpretentious mentertainment, and it should remain that way.

Not at all. DC stopped using the "Bond" preface.

But a Bond film can include women in it without resorting to having them prancing around in bikinis simply for men to ogle at. DC seem to think that this is the only thing that they should be doing, and implies that Bond films set the standards that society follows - ie that women stopped "showing some flesh" when Bond Girls stopped doing it - rather than Bond films being the ones to respond to society.

I think you're both talking cross-purposes here, but I'll leave you to it.
  • True, the Bond movies are "mentertainment," but times are changing, and none of us on this board have control over that. M is now a woman, the Bond girls are getting more realistic, there's more gratuitous shots of Bond, and even the male villains are getting more attractive (look at Javier Bardem next to Goldfinger or Largo).

If you don't accept that, you'll have to just stop watching the series. It's not going to go counterclockwise.

I have a feeling we are mixing up beautiful with 'glamorous'. The 60s women had a great deal of glamour as well as beauty. There has been little glamour amongst the most recent (beautiful) Bond girls.

Apparently Severine is set to change that. "Glamorous, enigmatic"...

I Agree. Wardrobe tried with Vesper but failed because she was too self-conscience. A truly glamorous woman carries it off without looking like a scared little puppy. Vesper had to work too hard at it. She looked more like she was wearing costumes. The clothes wore her and not the other way around.

As a woman who loves fashion, don’t even get me started on Strawberry Fields showing up at the airport in those atrocious boots and coat getup. There are other ways of portraying naivety without looking that plain and sad.

The 60s Bond girls had lots of curves too.

I think DC007 clearly states Bond girls in that statement and not all women.
  • Bond girls should be sexy - I'm tired of Bond girl equals - I want a non-pc Bond girl please.

DC007, Gemma is gorgeous sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot here's two reasons:

Yes, I have to agree. the women in SF look too skinny. I like a woman to have some meat on her bones (and chest). Gone are the Fione Volpe, Mellina Havelock, Jinx, Solitaire et al...
I did like Vesper and I would never kick her out of bed. she was hot.
Camille did absolutely nothing for me and as for the Skyfall girls, I would sic my dog on them....(reserve them a seat at the nearest steak house)

As for Craig doing all the best beach scenes in CR, does it have something to do with the fact that the lead producer (Babs) is a woman and she is not so keen on throwing eye candy for us warm blooded males.
