This is very difficult but here is my list. Did it quite quickly but should be reasonably accurate

    1. 1983: Music Score for "OCTOPUSSY", by John Barry
    2. 1969: Music Score for "ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE", by John Barry
    3. 1987: Music Score for "THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS", by John Barry
    4. 1971: Music Score for "DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER", by John Barry
    5. 1979: Music Score for "MOONRAKER", by John Barry
    6. 1965: Music Score for "THUNDERBALL", by John Barry
    7. 1967: Music Score for "YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE", by John Barry
    8. 1985: Music Score for "A VIEW TO A KILL", by John Barry
    9. 1974: Music Score for "THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN", by John Barry
    10. 1964: Music Score for "GOLDFINGER", by John Barry

Unfortunately FRWL just misses out because there's 10 better scores :)

  • 38 voters already! "OHMSS" at this stage should already be considered the winner. Though "DAF" and "TLD" are in a firm position for a medal too. "TND" is still considered the best Arnold score, which in all honesty I think so too:

I distinctly remember the elation I felt as I watched TND for the first time in the cinema! It was so refreshing to hear classic Bond cues after the good, but not Bondian, score that was Goldeneye!

I think, after this poll is finished, we can safely conclude that David Arnold's best score still is "TND" ;-).

I'm not very much of making lists, but I love them when I see them, so here we go:

12p. OHMSS J.Barry (really difficult to choose one! It could have been at least any of the 5 first...)

    10p. TB J.Barry
    8p. GF J.Barry
    7p. FRWL J.Barry
    6p. CR D.Arnold
    5p. TND D.Arnold
    4p. DAF J.Barry
    3p. TLD J.Barry
    2p. AVTAK J.Barry
    1p. YOLT J.Barry

i've always felt CR was Arnold's best Bond score.. it was a change of pace - it felt more classic and orchestral than his previous Bond scores, plus it didn't rely so heavily on the Bond theme (which he was often blasted for using too much).. but at the same time, i liked the way he used parts of the Bond theme at certain moments - like when Bond arrives in Nassau, with those blaring trumpets and the simple one note riff off an electric guitar..... gives me goosebumps each time i hear it - but i also liked the way he incorporated YKNM into the score as well.... i dont know, for my own personal tastes i liked what he brought to the table with his work on CR, and even QOS - though CR is the superior between the two.

i've always liked all of Arnold's scores - while often time void of a specific overarching theme, i really liked the way it was used on screen..
  • Here we go :

12p: On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    10p: From Russia with Love
    8p: You Only Live Twice
    7p: Thunderball
    6p: Moonraker
    5p: Casino Royale
    4p: Diamonds Are Forever
    3p: Goldfinger
    2p: The Living Daylights
    1p: Live and Let Die

John Barry obviously the best (and from York!), David Arnold's scores I felt became very samey - i'm sure he used similar themes across his films. I liked Michael Kamen's score for Licence to Kill but did feel like his Die Hard/Lethal Weapon scores with the JB theme mixed in
  • Keep voting guys ;-).

    Yep OP 12 points :D

It was a tough battle, in hindsight perhaps OHMSS should be first, and TLD second....but OP has a lot going for it

Ah yes! You brought it single-handedly to 14th place :-P!

In all honesty, I think the score triumphes in this exotic Indian flavour. But it did lack some 'punch' and 'zest'. Especially the more action-oriented parts.

Michael Giacchino for instance did some marvellous stuff on "Ghost Protocol". Great original source/party music:
