Advice if possible please - valuation on Framed Large Casino Royale signed poster

Hello all

Hoping one of you out there could advise if they think i've stepped over the mark; I was fortunate to be at a private screening of Spectre this week and there was a charity auction, which offered a framed Casino Royale poster, large one at least 4ft by 3ft, which has all cast signatures from DC himself, Eva Green, Judi Dench, Mads Mikelsen, Jeffery Wright and some others, full cast you could argue. It was a charity auction and most items had a reserve of £2500 which i bid for this item.....and i've got it. I'm now wondering if i've paid somewhat over the odds here, as beautiful as it is!! I'm just hoping its not the sort of thing readily available for say half of that.....let alone, readily available. To put it into some perspective a similar item for Skyfall went for double this amount. Any genuine "expert" input would be appreciated.

It's difficult to put an open market value on something like this because no one has any real idea how many more are out there. If this were a Dr No poster signed by all the cast (most of whom are now dead), then I daresay £2,500 would be a possible value, but for a movie as recent as Casino Royale, I think this amount is a little over the top because these things tend to increase in value with age as they become rarer.

If you check out eBay's page for this sort of thing...

    ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=James+Bond+Casino+Royale+signed&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XJames+Bond+Casino+Royale+poster+signed.TRS0&_nkw=James+Bond+Casino+Royale+poster+signed&_sacat=0

...the likely value for your poster would probably only be a few hundred pounds, tops.

But if the money is for charity, then the market value is, to a large extent, irrelevant. Maybe you should consider this an investment for the future.

cheers and I am taking the investment consideration.....Bonhams auctions had a DC only signed item that went for £800 and also I saw a similar thing at Harrods for over £3000, i'm intrigued if anyone has seen such a "group" signed item with genuine providence as per this item.

I can't pretend to post here with any authority as an expert although I have a strong interest in things like this and own a modest selection or original artworks by people whom I am inspired by - not Bond related it must be said.

You've bid money you clearly have available for the purchase that went to a very good cause so really, you're just concerned about the validity of your investment? Things are only too expensive if you don't have the money!!

With so many fakes easily produced you need to be absolutely certain of the authenticity and source which of course you say was through the Charity auction. Do you have any additional certification, unique mark or catalogue to go with it: basically a provenance? I only ask as this is the essential ingredient should you want to realise a price if you no longer want to keep the poster.

As for values, I can only point you to things I've seen online that you no doubt have already seen.

It could very well be worth contacting the team at Christies for guidance where they can at least offer you an estimate.

As with any item, auction or not, things are only ever worth what somebody (or two bidders!) are prepared to pay!! I'm sure what you have looks gorgeous and will be the envy of anyone on this forum. What's £2.5k? a second hand car?

I hope you find the peace of mind you're looking for!

Cheers andmcit, having read before and seen examples of the real and not so real autographs out there I'm certain i've got the real thing here, and also its a MAJOR charity that this is coming from so I doubt they would be associating themselves with anything that could cause them an embarrassment......i think its one of those things that will (like me hopefully) get better value with age! I guess I'm curious as much as anything else, i've nothing like this in my limited Bond memorabilia collection and this is absolutely the centrepiece.
