CR- The scene between Denbigh and M mirrored the PTS (was anyone else expecting M to say "I know where you keep your gun"?)
Good catch. I did recall CR at that moment, including the dark, almost empty office.

This more or less covers some things up
  • Bond says “STAY!” to a security guard at the Hoffler Klinik. In “Octopussy”, he said “SIT!” to a tiger in the jungle.

Wow. Someone's got too much time on their hands.

The Bond Bulletin link a few posts back has a link to a great interview with DC and Sam Mendes on Charlie Rose.

When Bond is chasing Hinx in the plane and comes up side by side, he looks over to Hinx and gives him a cheeky Roger Moore smirk.
  • SF- The Modigliani painting is in Madeleine's room at the Morocco lair.

Interesting. Does this imply that Blofeld was behind the Shanghai assassination in Skyfall because he wanted the painting himself?I guess I never really understood why that guy was being killed but this sort of casts a new light on it.

Oh and of course, Bond talking to a rat = DAF :)

I think I noticed most of what has already been mentioned. The "big" ones for me were:
    -Street carnival: Thunderball.
-Helicopter fight: For Your Eyes Only
    -SPECTRE meeting: Thunderball
-Alpine clinic: You KNOW that was Piz Gloia man! :) (even my non-bond fan wife got that one).
-Train: Although there is some debate, I took it as From Russia With Love. It had a more "Orient Express" feel to it.
-SPECTRE HQ: in a crater...just like You Only Live Twice.
-The whole "meet him for dinner" thing: Dr. No.
    -The watch: Moonraker.
    -DB10 ejector: Goldfinger...naturally.
-DB5....take your pick at this point.
    -Rollsroyce....too many to list.
-Hildebrant: name cribbed from The Hildebrant Rarity short story.

One which hasent been mentioned is leaving Mi6 in the boat...recalling The World is Not Enough. In fact, when they were scrambling to escape, I leaned over to my wife and said "you watch....they will get out using the boat...." LOL.

Bond taking control of the diving helicopter in the pre-credits was right out of GE.

And wasn't the car Bond and Swann were picked up in at the desert train station the same make and model as Goldfinger's car?

The white dinner jacket with the red rose-duh, GOLDFINGER.
And talking to the rat, has been mentioned before-DAF.
  • I thought the painting in Madeleine's room was a lot smaller? Or were there two?

AVTAK - Blofeld waiting in his helicopter to see the derelict MI6 building explode mirror's Zorin waiting above Silicon valley to watch it's destruction.

I'm not sure about the size, but it's the one on the wall above her bed (left side, if you're watching the movie)

Sam Mendes honoured John Glen by doing Glen's signature in Spectre:

Birds flying out of a room in Mr. White's house startling James Bond.

Glen did this in his Bond movies as his signature.

The air he was breathing in Rome was definitely a homage to the air in Siena from QoS.

Hehe. I thought that was obvious?

  • SP/TWINE - Bond shoots at a facially-scarred villain who is standing behind bulletproof glass, and who has left a bomb in the building they're standing in.

This might be a bit of a stretch but:

Blofeld crawling out of the destroyed helicopter exactly the same way as Dalton crawling out the destroyed gasoline truck.

there was a bomb ticking down to an explosion during the climax... just like in GF, YOLT, DAF, OP, AVTAK ;)

in all honesty though - Blofeld setting the bomb timer to 3 minutes reminded me of GE, and Trevelyan setting the bomb timer in the train to 3 minutes.

Once I saw the bomb timer, all I thought to myself was:

"Set the timers for six minutes."
    "Six minutes, check!"

I'd say it's more of a reference to CR when Bond shot Mr. White in the leg and he's crawling towards that villa. They even had similar injuries.

    I hadn't thought of that.
