    I can't believe this member has FYEO as the worst Bond film ever. Talk about having a death wish!

    Looks like we may have to send Mr Hinx to have a word with this person! :)
    err... I knew I'd get killed for this. Maybe I will give it a rewatch. Maybe.

    After marathon-ing all of the Bond films over the last few months (many of which I haven't seen in years!) letting it all gel in my head, and seeing SPECTRE three times now, my list needs a (drastic) revision. It's amazing how much things have moved around.

    No, each to their own. But what makes FYEO so bad for you?
  • And finally... here we are. After two viewings of Bond 24, I think I can firmly place it in the top 10. I wonder how it will hold up. Quantum fell in my rankings from 5th to 15th since 2008. Skyfall is still strong at #4. I have a highly scientific ranking methodology, wherein I rate each film's plot, Bond performance, villains, ladies, and direction out of 10; the intro, theme, supporting cast, script, score, design, locations, and action out of 5; and finally the titles, climax, gadgets, and overall experience out of 2.5. A few years ago I had too much free time one day and luckily haven't deleted my excel file with rankings.

    1. From Russia with Love
    2. Casino Royale
    3. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    4. Thunderball
    5. Skyfall
    6. Dr. No
    7. GoldenEye
    8. Goldfinger
    9. Spectre
    10. The Living Daylights
    11. For Your Eyes Only
    12. You Only Live Twice
    13. The Spy Who Loved Me
    14. Licence to Kill
    15. Quantum of Solace
    16. Live and Let Die
    17. Moonraker
    18. Octopussy
    19. Tomorrow Never Dies
    20. The Man with the Golden Gun
    21. The World is Not Enough
    22. Diamonds are Forever
    23. A View to a Kill
    24. Die Another Day
  • Love them all, but here they go, with a draw included)

    1) LTK
    2) SF
    3) TMWTGG (my first Bond)
    4) GF
    4) OHMSS (a draw: the formulaic one and the innovative one)
    5) TSWLM
    6) DAF (better parody than Austin Powers!)
    7) CR
    8) Spectre
    9) GE
    10) LALD
    11) FRWL
    12) Dr.No
    13) FYEO
    14) YOLT
    15) TLD
    16) TWINO
    17) AVTAK
    18) OP
    19) TB (good, very good, but painfully slow)
    20) TND
    21) [The eternal vacant]

    The Bottom 3

    21) MR (extremely funny romp with awesome FX, awful movie)
    22) DAD (good, but... Stupid invisible car...)
    23) QOS (not bad, but a dissapointment after CR)

    According to my personal tastes, here goes SP: high to middle position. Waiting until second watching.

    1) Thunderball..led me to my years of scuba diving
    2)Goldfinger..this one set the bar for everyone else
    3)You only Live Twice..another classic
    4)Goldeneye.. rebooted Bond, Pierce should get his due
    5)Live and Let Die....a serious Roger Moore, his best
    6)Quantum of Solace..most underrated Bond...Daniel owned Bond in this one
    7)Spectre..already top ten, Could move higher as time moves on
    8)Tomorrow Never Dies.....only needed a serious Felix to be higher, underrated
    9)The World is Not Enough..very underrated
    10)Casino Royale....very good, but Daniel had the swagger in QOS
    11)From Russia with Love
    12)For Your Eyes Only
    Any order after that, the other of Roger Moore's at the end, Skyfall is in this list, but it is a different Bond film. It deserves a high ranking, but is hard to rank

    After my second viewing on Friday, I've now updated my ranking to reflect a move of position for Spectre, which goes up 1 place from 7 to 5. Second viewings in particular, I think, help give you a better feel for a movie. As a Bond fan, watching it for the first time, I'm aware of what you want to see and constantly on the look out for every little thing. It's a tense thing being so into something and on a first watch I think you take that tension with you into the cinema. After that and on further viewings I feel more relaxed and can just sit back and enjoy the splendour of Bond.

    Of course this is all a matter of subjectivity, but I don't think Moore's movies, even AVTAK and Moonraker, could be placed at the very bottom. There is always at least one redeeming factor in each of the movies, and there were always entertaining even if they were bad critically or in some other aspect. And they usually always had pretty good theme songs/scores to compensate, which touches on the redeeming factor I mentioned.

    That being said, I've always felt TMWTGG was Moore's worst. The score and theme song were the worst, the return of J.W. Pepper, the botched-up karate and Britt Ekland, among other evils, just completely overrun the goods of the movie (which aren't that many, either). It just wastes the most potential out of all of Moore's films, IMO, even when you include A View To a Kill.

    I have a highly scientific ranking methodologyy

    @GeneralGogol I've thought about doing that but I've got no idea what categories to use, and what weighting to give to each.

    Just had 2nd viewing today.

    SP stays where it was after 1st viewing. Just below SF, but it has closed the gap. I just find SF tauter as a thriller

    Yank the MI6 London nonsense from SP and it overtakes SF and potentially takes out GE/OHMSS/SF for the 7th slot.

    My updated list as of November 11th 2015. I have now included "SPECTRE", after I have seen the new Bond-film two times in cinema. I think it's a very very solid sequel to "Skyfall", much like "The Dark Knight Rises" was a very good follow-up to "The Dark Knight". The film is not a masterpiece, but it's at this moment a very certified TOP 10-film for me, thus pushing "Licence To Kill" out of my TOP 10. It's quite an achievement to see three of Daniel's four Bond-films in the TOP 10. One last thing? I shit on RottenTomatoes for the current ridiculous 63%! Now.....this blows off some steam. Thank you guys and girls:

    Top quality films!!!:
    01 --> 9.5/10 --> 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'
    02 --> 9.3/10 --> 'From Russia With Love'
    03 --> 9.0/10 --> 'Skyfall'
    04 --> 8.8/10 --> 'Casino Royale'
    05 --> 8.3/10 --> 'Thunderball'
    06 --> 8.0/10 --> 'Doctor No'

    Good films!:
    07 --> 7.8/10 --> 'SPECTRE' (NEW !!)
    08 --> 7.6/10 --> 'Octopussy'
    09 --> 7.5/10 --> 'For Your Eyes Only'
    10 --> 7.4/10 --> 'The Living Daylights'
    11 --> 7.2/10 --> 'Licence To Kill'
    12 --> 7.0/10 --> 'Goldfinger'

    Average films:
    13 --> 6.7/10 --> 'The World Is Not Enough'
    14 --> 6.5/10 --> 'The Man With The Golden Gun'
    15 --> 6.3/10 --> 'Quantum Of Solace'
    16 --> 6.1/10 --> 'The Spy Who Loved Me'
    17 --> 6.0/10 --> 'Live And Let Die'
    18 --> 5.7/10 --> 'Never Say Never Again' (non-EON)

    Fun stuff for Bond nerds, but as a standalone film bad and sometimes even groce!:
    19 --> 5.4/10 --> 'Moonraker'
    20 --> 5.1/10 --> 'Diamonds Are Forever'
    21 --> 4.8/10 --> 'Tomorrow Never Dies'
    22 --> 4.5/10 --> 'You Only Live Twice'
    23 --> 4.2/10 --> 'GoldenEye'
    23 --> 3.4/10 --> 'A View To A Kill'
    24 --> 2.8/10 --> 'Die Another Day'
    25 --> 1.2/10 --> 'Casino Royale' (non-EON)

    Diamonds are Forever is one of my favorites, no doubt. Like the cast, and was happy to see Connery return.

    Here's my new list- having finally had a chance to see Spectre, and watched all the movies recently, my ranking has changed quite a bit

    Can't Be Beaten:

    -GoldenEye
    -Casino Royale
    -Thunderball

    Excellent:

    -The Living Daylights
    -On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    -From Russia with Love
    -Skyfall
    -The Spy Who Loved Me
    -Spectre
    -License to Kill

    Good:

    -For Your Eyes Only
    -Goldfinger
    -Octopussy
    -Moonraker
    -Live and Let Die
    -You Only Live Twice

    Middle:

    -A View to a Kill
    -Dr. No
    -Diamonds Are Forever
    -Tomorrow Never Dies
    -Quantum of Solace

    Hard to sit through:

    -Never Say Never Again
    -The Man with the Golden Gun
    -The World is Not Enough
    -Die Another Day

    *Edit Whoops, thanks @BondJasonBond006. Added Goldfinger.
