Craig: stay or go? has SPECTRE changed any opinions?

    I don't know. Craig was fantastic in "SPECTRE". But I have a deep fear that the next Bond film for him might not be so hot. So, I don't know.

    I hope Barbara is able to have her wishes fulfilled... I want him back for one or two more... he's not only great in the part, but his taste and desire to make the films great elevate everything. Look at the casts around him... that's part his taste in influencing casting and actors and actresses wanting to work with him. The only thing that would make me not want him back is if they continued down the humor road and made the movies really campy.

    There are movies which came out 50 years ago and you never saw them. It's not like I watch every single movie as soon as it comes out. I've got other things to do.

    Craig is second in my book to Connery and I like them all. My vote is one more please.

    What I was implying was that if you're someone who frequents a pop-culture film forum, it's likely that you're going to have similarly Zeitgeisty movies spoiled for you, especially at that age.

    I'm keeping everything crossed that he does at least one more. I think he's brilliant in SPECTRE, and I want to see more of him.

    In all honesty, I think there has to be a "Consume by" date for spoilers. If a movie's been out for more than 5 years you've got no right to expect to be kept spoiler-free on it.

    Yes I do. It'll be the most difficult replacement since Connery. Craig has brought the Bond series back to true blockbuster status, and critical respect (in most cases, ahem). There may be some trepidation on the part of agents and management etc persuading their actors that stepping into DC's shoes will be a tough job. Thats why I'm leaning towards EON hiring an almost complete unknown as the next Bond.

    Leave and let someone who's passionate about traditional Bond to enter. Timothy Dalton was clearly passionate and demanded that the films go back to their roots after excess camp in the Moore era. Whereas Craig is evidently bored and contemptuous of traditional Bond. His saying he hopes his bond is less sexist. That's the character ffs.

    It's fair enough to say Craig's got two fantastic entries and two heavily split, polarizing films. Aside from some media comments, he hasn't exactly given me a reason to give him the boot. A Bond with 2 of the best entries in 4 films is only matched by Connery.

    That said...
    1. In a day and age where social media dominates the entertainment landscape, the general public has accepted Craig as Bond and I can solidly say embrace him, and think of him as the best.
    2. You want to rush that kind of power out for another star that can pan out Dalton-esq (I like Dalton, public didn't latch at the time).
    3. I want the franchise to continue and make great movies, Craig stays.

    .... I hope he does 6. Give me a film with Craig as comfy as he was in SPECTRE with a story like CR.

    Saw SP for the 2nd time today and .. DC was indeed superb, better then ever in this movie as James Bond. But he is getting older ... In 2/3 years time maybe age will already be a problem... But, after being a bit skeptical in the beguinning, i must confess now i am a fan! So let him do one more!

    Having finally gotten a chance to see it yesterday, I agree @talos7 that Spectre was a terrific send off for Craig. However there are two big reasons I'd like him to stay for one of two more:

    One, it took them THREE movies to get his Bond to the status quo-- with the very last scene in Skyfall finally looking like the Bond movies we were familiar with. (M's office, Moneypenny, etc) Now that Craig is truly Bond, in the same vein as his predecessors, does it make a whole lot of sense to quit now?

    Two, now that they've introduced Spectre in the new series it would be a shame for Craig to not do another one. Imagine if Connery only did one movie involving Spectre? He'd be done after Dr. No, lol.


    Perhaps someone can shed some light on something though-- you see I've been avoiding spoilers since the new movie was out, and there have been certain threads regarding Daniel Craig's own personal desire to continue. There are now pages and pages of discussion on it.... so which is it? Does Craig want to continue? Or is he sick of it?
    The reason I ask is, if Craig is really bored/sick of it, then he should absolutely quit. We don't want another Connery-- four perfect movies followed by two (three in you include NSNA) where it's obvious he's only in it for the money.

    If he comes back it'll just be 1 more, but do I think he should come back? Absolutely. I had problems with Spectre, but Craig was not one of them. I think the perfect scenario would be a 5th movie from Craig after which they should reboot.

    Michael Wilson also publicly stated, in a published video, that Brosnan had the role of Bond "as long as he wants" following the success of Golden Eye. Then he very disrespectfully booted him, going back on his word, after witnessing the success of Bourne and acquiring the rights to Casino Royale. This happened even after DAD (which I didn't like) made record money for the franchise.

    Lesson? The market talks & what Wilson says is not to be trusted (especially by the actor playing Bond).

    Craig does though, have an advantage over Brosnan... Babs seems to be in love w/the Craig.

    Anyway, I wouldn't want Craig around for past one more movie -- no matter how great he is in it or how successful the movie. Who wants a return to the Moore days of geriatric Bond who can't perform action fawning over women half is age!? Yuck!

    Craig isn't even 50 yet. Moore was 57 combined with an ill advised face lift. Craig looked as good as he did in CR. Keep him so he can close off the SPECTRE storyline and finish Blofeld and Spectre once and for all.

    I agree, keep him for one more & finish the arch. At 3 yrs between movies now, Craig, will be 50 at the release of the next one -- time to retire from Bond.

    I agree.........Craig back for one more film, preferably as others have mentioned, with a cracking great story of him versus the Spectre organisation, where Blofeld is intent on revenge, after escaping (somehow) from London, to start a new threat to the world!

    The truth is that, two days after I'd finished an eight-month shoot, someone asked me if I wanted to do another Bond movie and I said: "As of this moment, I'd rather slash my wrists." But I'd challenge anybody to give a straight or sensible answer to a question like that so soon after finishing a film like this. Unfortunately, now I find I'm constantly defending myself against that. But that's the modern world we live in: you say something like that and it has legs - even though it was said on the spur of the moment. As for the future, I really don't know. I have no idea if this is or isn't my last one because I genuinely haven't given it any thought. I know that's not what you want to hear but that's the truth. Also, I'm human and I change my mind. We all change our minds, 10 times a day. It's unrealistic to think we don't.

    Craig to stay for me. Definitely the best Bond. My prediction when he started was that he would do 5 Bond films.

    I think they used London brilliantly in both Spectre and Skyfall. But would want it to take a less substantial role in the next Bond. Dr. No was one of the first Bonds I saw and it really made an impression on me of how much it felt like an adventure - starting off in London and then going off on this adventure to a strange and exotic place in the Caribbean - it gave the feeling at the end of the movie of wow we've been on adventure, how long ago it seems since the start of the film in London (not in a bad way, like what a loooong film). You get that in the novels too, I seem to remember Bond saying things to himself like, how long ago was it since he was in the office with M? 2 weeks ago? It felt like years ago - which adds to the sense of adventure.

    I was a big fan of London in SF. 3 years later and I feel this is the most overexposed city in film these days. I even saw a trailer for "London Has Fallen" before SP, and here we go again.......

    The same scenes/framing shots keep being used over and over again in most films, and they really should give it a rest......and I'm a previous Londoner (with some loyalty) saying this...

    Either that, or find new, interesting locations within London to use.
