I really want this to happen. Maybe nolan could kickoff the new bond actor after bond 25
Get Brad Bird to direct, The cast of SPECTRE to return, Michael Giacchino in the composer's chair and you have magic ready to bloom.
But, somehow, my gut tells me he will never be considered by EON.
@Murdock: No smarter words have ever been spoken. You just summed up my thoughts! We do need a different writer, though - one whose name is NOT John Logan. Maybe they could woo someone like Steven Zaillian.
EON does not hire American directors.
This is an entirely plausible and realistic (French-Canadian) choice, who has stated he'd be interested in Bond, and he brings dramatic credibility to the table.
Villeneuve directing Craig, Waltz, Fiennes & co. in a film about Blofeld's escape, revenge on Bond, and Bond's subsequent "slaying of the dragon"? Yes please!
I have not seen Sicario yet, but based on Enemy and Prisoners I really like this director.
Really? It's just a coincidence that after 24 films they've never hired one, yet have gone out of their way to hire obscure semi-washed up Canadians and New Zealanders? I always heard it was their official mandate, from Cubby, claiming that an American couldn't 'get' the Britishness of Bond : "Don't let them screw it up". Anyone else want to weigh in on this?
There would have been nothing wrong with hiring Brett Ratner during the Brosnan era. Would he really have not done "as well" as Spottiswoode, Apted, Tamahori?
Or there Paul Greengrass, English. The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), and Oscar nominated for United 93 (2006).
Having said that I'll take him over a 3rd Mendes film - he's had his chance to shine and I don't think there is any more 'Sam Mendes character-drama' to be squeezed out of this era...
Marc Forster: QOS 2008 - Bond 25 = 10 years
I am curious what Dennis Villeneuve will make with Pervis & Wade, Paul Haggis (CR/QOS) and mabey Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband/Prisoners).
Honestly I would love Chris Mcquarrie and Drew Pearce
But
Who do I suspect
Neal Purvis Robert Wade and Jez Butterworth will be writing and the announcement will be Febuary or March. (my guess)
Directing wise If Craig won't return unless Mendes is directing Fine but I would Hope Craig would be willing to work with other directors.
For Directors my Dream choice honestly is Spielberg, Tony Gilroy, or Luc Besson (taken) but realistically Tom Hoppard will probably be the director if Mendes isn't it. which will be announced Julyish
Of Course I want the film to come out November 2017 but I would be ok with either November 2018 or maybe we finally get out of November period and maybe February 2018? the release date will be announced with the director in July.
My guess also would be a screenplay by Purvis, Wade and Butterworth.
You know if it is not Mendes I could see Craig convince Speilberg.
From Sir Roger Moore's autiobiography
In the early ’70s, Moore bumped into a young Steven Spielberg at the Plaza Anténé In Paris.
“We sat, and we talked. He said he would love to direct a Bond,” Moore said. “At this time, all I knew about him was that I had seen ’Duel,’ which I thought was a superb bit of moviemaking, and he wasn’t that known at that time.”
Moore passed along the note to producer Cubby Broccoli, who in turn shot Spielberg down.
“Spielberg wanted a piece, and Cubby didn’t want to give anything away,” Moore said. “He didn’t want to give any more points of Bond away to directors coming in.”
Spielberg has opened up about his attempts to direct a Bond movie on a couple of occasions, but Moore figures that the work he did instead of 007 pushed the spy series to new height.
“Spielberg made ’Indiana Jones,’ which really is one step beyond Bond,” Moore said. “That made Bond step up.”
