17 years is a lot but how long Richard Maibaum was involved? Yeah...

But yes, I also think they´ve done all the possible and now it´s time to move on.

The critical point in making Bond movies is writing and the schedule. I hope that changes, too.

EON must hire a good writer and give him/her the time he/she needs.

Has Neal Purvis and Robert Wade ever write for any other films other than Bond?

Let Him Have It (1991), Plunkett & Macleane (1999), Stoned (2005), Johnny English (2003) & Johnny English Reborn (2011) and uncredit there also work on The Italian Job (2003) and Sahara (2005).

Plunkett & Macleane and Twine both include Robert Carlyle. Music by Craig Armstrong, one of options i like see as composer for Bond movie. Also starring Alan Cumming (Goldeneye).

Let Him Have it starring also with Serena Scott Thomas who playing the doctor in Twine and Michael Gough who play Alfred in Batman (1989-1997). Music by Michael Kamen (Licence To Kill). Stoned is starring Ben Whishaw and music is by David Arnold.

Logan and P&W have all expressed a desire to move on. Hope they do

as they should.. they've been doing this now for the past 17 years (6 films).. it kind of gets stale after a while... for what it's worth (i know everyone has their own opinion on them), but i thought for everything that P&W had to put up with - with crazy last minute deadlines, crazy directors that take what they wrote - change it, only to make it worse - getting sacked, only to be begged to come back because their successor sucked - they've done a very commendable job - for all the negativity that we fans heap upon them when things aren't great, they never get their due credit for when things went good - but that's showbiz i guess lol.... it hasn't always been perfect, but nothing ever is... it will actually be a bit weird to look up (possibly) at the credits of Bond 25 and NOT see "written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade".... but, a fresh set of eyes is always welcome... lets just hope whoever is directing, be it Sam again, doesn't have to go begging them back to try and fix another mess - let's get it right this time. :)

I stil think there should consider Hossein Amini. I sugest him a couple of times and now he is doing the screenplay for Spy movie (based on novel by John le Carré) with include Naomi Harris. Mabey option with the third writer of Spectre.

    20th Century Fox back ?

Steelbook edition from Spectre as you can read in Spectre on Bluray thread http://www.mi6community.com/index.php?p=/discussion/13083/spectre-on-blu-ray#latest , released by MGM/Fox.

For a whyle the preorder pages on bol.com who confirmd earlier MGM/Sony going release Spectre on BD and dvd are gone too. It have been then second time after CR movie be made and released by MGM/Sony. In other words: Casino Royale whas only Bond movie made and released by MGM/Sony and it look like it stay that way.

It can mean Fox is back in release Bond 25 in cinema too, as in between option Universal release Spectre. MGM/Sony making the movie and MGM/Fox release BD and Dvd. MGM/Fox also release QOS and Skyfall on BD/DVD. It also can mean Sam Mendes is back. Another option is Die Another Day option, this mean movie wil be made and released on BD/DVD by MGM/Fox and Sony is gone.

Idea of Warner wil take over in making movie is, is with this confirmd from the table i think. Whyle there is also option MGM/Fox making the movie and Warner release it in the cinema. Movies like X-men First Class, X-files and Kingsman are Fox movies but released by Warner in Dutch cinema and by Fox on BD/DVD.

He did the same for Skyfall script, only unaccredited that time.
Maybe he gets a bigger role on the next one.

Yes, one of the biggest problems with the Craig era is the writing. I think all of his films have suffered due to simply having too many fingerprints on them. Too many cooks, as the saying goes.

It's hard enough to find two writers who can work together without stepping on each others toes, let alone three or four.

I hope with B25 they get just one or two writers to work on the script, and not P&W again for heavenly sake! Jez could do justice to Bond if he is given the trust and freedom from EON. At the very least there wouldn't be so many plot wholes next time.

I understand what you are saying but I don't think so... maybe.

Seriously doubt Mendes returning based on recent interviews.

    Im hoping not.

I know Eon, Babs, and MGW have ultimate control over Bond, but my guess is if in the unlikely event it is Sony? I think they will be happy for another 3 year wait. If it is a new partner then i think they will push for a 2 year wait?

Either way it hinges on whether their is an early draft outline for Bond 25 by then? Also whether DC and a Directer are on board by this point?

Sony/Columbia is a sinking ship - they are in financial dire straits, and their executives don't have a clue (creatively) as to what they are doing... Marvel is desperately trying to pry Spider-man from their grasp because of how brilliantly they've destroyed that franchise... my fear, is that if EON stays with Sony as distributor, they (Sony) will try and leverage more control over the sceenplay and budget - more than they had before.... when Sony execs start sticking their nose into the creative side of things - it never ends well... to quote the Phantom from Phantom of the Opera, "There place is in an office, not the arts."

They were spot on with the SP script shortcomings though.

I blame the filmmakers more for not making the film they should have. Choosing Logan then fixing the script with P&W????..

yes they were... but to say it like that, is setting up an excuse for it being a good thing that they eventually get more control.. We don't want this bad thing to happen again, so lets leverage more control to ensure it doesn't... I don't like Sony/Columbia, but after reading the leaked script and seeing SP, i admitted that their concerns were justified - but that doesn't mean i'd put them in charge of trying to find the solutions..... when someone obviously breaks a leg - anyone person off the street can look at it and go "yep, that's broken." - but i wouldn't trust that same person has a clue on how to fix it.

    I don't want Sony either.

No more Sony, no more Mendes, no Nolan. I want a fresh perspective for what will likely be Craig's final outing (maybe they can stretch that to final two; six is the perfect amount for Craig and his Bond).

The decision on a new Distributor rests entirely with Gary Barber at MGM. Eon are responsible for making the film, MGM are responsible for arranging financing and distribution.

Oh Lord, anyone, I would take literally anyone but Disney... Disney would abominate the franchise in literal and spiritual form.

Warner Brothers on the other hand would do it justice.

Disney was my usual dose of hidden sarcasm :))

But then Craig belting out a tune every now and then... :))

Oh, then I extend you my apologies, my good man, since sarcasm hasn't been a noticeable thing in here and taken lightly quite often. It's become a rare thing. ;)

Disney would be very good for Bond.

They have tons of cash and artistic vision. I know they turn out lots of crap too, but that is beside the point.

Had Disney made Skyfall, Bond would have turned out to be the lost prince of Glencoe. ;)
  • To Disney’s credit, they put Kathleen Kennedy in charge of Star Wars and now they have a new Star Wars or Star Wars spinoff movie coming out every single year for the next six years or more. That woman knows how to keep a franchise moving without a single rusty cog holding up the works. Babs and MGW could take a few pointers from her.
