I know this should technically be in the Skyfall opening titles thread, but check out this re-do of Skyfall's title sequence.

    Really love 1:17-1:40

Absolutely chilling. This man should get the job if DK ever retires.
  • How interesting when I found that Adele's Skyfall works well in the SP TS. Despite the less stronger visual impact, the duration is more or less the same.
  • FrameStore have released the whole sequence in HD on online

Awesome! Been wanting to watch it again. Now to take a bunch of screenshots...

  • I think the most interesting thing I discovered watching it again comes at the bit where you see the old photos floating around by the fiery skull. You can the snap of Bond and the Oberhauser’s, Madeline and her father, ALSO, if you pause it: in the background you can see a photo of a baby. It looks like it is either a photo of a baby Daniel Craig or maybe Lea Seydoux.

Here you go. I made Main Title screenshots from all films from "GOLDENEYE" until "DIE ANOTHER DAY".

That reworking of SF's titles is amazing!

My favorite bit must be when the woman's dress changes color. I also liked when he's falling into the neon-clad city and later with the woman with the screens I couldn't help thinking about the TND... nice'ish touch. I didn't quite like the layout of the credits themselves though.

BTW: What are those falling during the chorus aside from the guns? columns? they look a bit like the twin towers.

Please be a bit more precise :-). Which dress? From what titles?
  • It's a sad day when Daniel Kleinman leaves the series, these screenshots are absolutely beautiful even on their own

@gustav_graves a homage title sequence to Skyfall posted a little earlier in the thread
  • As someone who didn't care for the song (zzzz)
I will say they edited it just right for the title sequence and I liked it much more.

I'd add that the skull face man was creepy as hell and the nude Daniel Craig just standing there looking at us reminded me of The Terminator, 'Your clothes- give them to me. Now.'
    8-X
    Definitely a solid opening sequence!

Now, I will say with confidence, that Kleinman's title sequence for Spectre is my new favorite of the entire series. This man never ceases to amaze me.
  • On the first viewing, the titles were so mesmerizing that I completely forgot about any negative preconception's about Smith's song. In fact, I thought the music worked wonderfully with the titles. The octopus has been overdue for decades in a Bond title sequence - after all, it's the ultimate symbol of over-arching influence and sinister structure. Some nudity, the eroticism, the models' curves, beautiful smoke effects - all hallmarks of a classic sequence as well. The ghosts were done subtly and classy enough not to distract too much. I think Solange, Fields, Greene, and Severine should've been included though for 2-3 seconds each. Nevertheless, a top 5 sequence!

I still stand that Kleinman's work on GoldenEye is his best. The man attached visuals to half a century of espionage in a way nobody else could, while keeping if fresh and sexy.

Spectre's titles were excellent, but not his best, and perhaps not his second best for me either.

"GOLDENEYE" for me was OK, but just OK. I think, in style, design-wise, the "CASINO ROYALE" main titles are the most groundbreaking main titles ever since "DOCTOR NO".

Absolutely fantastic. But is it really a homage? It feels a bit like "Ooowh, I can do it better than Daniel Kleinman". I think the "Skyfall" titles don't need any homage.

Although I do think this little movie is very nice. A homage to all main titles:

That a bit of a negative assumption isn't it? Maybe the creator was inspired by Kleinman's style. I don't think he was trying to outdo Kleinman, but rather put their own spin on the Skyfall titles. That's an homage to me.

In the past I have also criticised some other fan art....and then people said I was solely slamming it down or being negative towards it.

Thing is, I do not find it....so charming if other people try to make something that is hugely inspired by something else, but is also more than just a homage to me. It's also a way of saying "I would have done it a bit differently".

Call me an 'ass', but I think one is entitled to his/her opinion about certain fan art. Yes, above fan titles are breathtaking. But they don't 'charm' me. It's a bit like Chinese car manufacturers: They make wonderful cars, with breathtaking design. But most of the time there are also blatant copies/inspirations from the original Volkswagen.
  • The Daniel Craig Quadrilogy in Main Titles. For all the fans, in HD backgrounds/screencaps ;-):

True that, considering there were two Silvas and two Le Chiffres, they could have squeezed at least Green & Mr. White.

It's weird how there is't one picture of Green, not even at the climax at the old hq.

Well I never called you an ass or said you aren't entitled to an opinion, that's not my point at all. You saw it at Oh I can do better than Kleinman. But that's not what it's purpose is at all. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It was done from the good of a fan's heart, not being spiteful to the man.

As for the Car analogy, most car manufacturers ripoff design ideas from one another these days. Though as someone with a fear of driving, Cars aren't exactly my specialty. ;)

@Gustav_Graves, so you love bare chested Craig with those arms and testacles wrapping around him? What would you like to see in the next Kleinemann entry?

1 Bond riding bare chested on a horse and wrestling a tiger

    or

2 Bond riding a bicycle wearing a helmet and playing fetch with a poodle?

Is it just me or the face in the octopus is Le Chiffre's?

Either way it look's badass, best bit in the video.

Not sure why people have a problem with Craig being bare chested, I think it comes off masculine (in a spartan kind of way).
  • The bare-chested, fire-blazing shot was hilarious. I appreciate shirtless Daniel Craig as much as any other woman, but it looked like it was straight out of a cheesy cologne commercial.

To change the subject though, is that Lucia on the right?

The song is utter junk but the titles slightly elevate it, that said though they are fine work from DK they are his worst of the Craig era, I like the shattered glass bits with M, LeChiffre, Greene & Silva but the Dan Craig octopus porn is a little too much.

CR & SF are still his best work but it's better than MK12's efforts for QOS.

MK12's best effort is probably the graphical user interface that remains in use in several JB video games. I enjoy it very much.

@Shardlake I agree, overall the sound/vision combination fits well but this isn't Kleinman's best, in certain ways the sequence feels slightly botched together.

@jackdagger So that part represents the funeral in Rome? I hadn't noticed it! It must be her.
