    The latest predictions I can find for this weekend (Fri-Sun) are as follows:

    1. $60m for Good Dinosaur
    2. $22m for Creed
    3. $11m for Frankenstein.

    I'm not sure what's expected for HG-MG2 in its 2nd frame, but possibly $40-50m?. That is some serious activity expected for this weekend's box office.

    Also, some are expecting $215M just for the opening weekend of SW7.
    I don't doubt it.
  • I expect Spectre will be in 4th place, probably can beat Frankenstein.

    And why shouldn't Star Wars open to 215...frankly it'll be embarrassing if it doesn't beat Jurassic World's opening (208).

    So neither the Cowboys nor the Indians cared about this one.

    I really didn't get that

    We've added $154 million to the total so we must have cared some.

    Tired of this damn bashing. The film is doing very well for a mediocre Bond film. Give us more and you'll get more.

    I'm more in line with you than others, @Murdock. While I'm conflicted about how I feel about the film, as in is it a "good" Bond or a "great" one, I know that I must like it a good bit if every time I read a post or review with someone calling it "subpar," "underwhelming" or "average" I roll my eyes and scoff.

    I can see why some wouldn't like it but, I loved it from beginning to end. I didn't see any problems with the story, writing or what have you. I went in with the highest of expectations and they were exceeded. People calling Spectre the worst Bond ever must not have seen any of the Pre Craig films. I went in to have fun, not pick it apart bit by bit. While I didn't like Newman's score, it didn't ruin the film for me. I went in to be entertained and I was entertained. It's a great year to be a Bond fan. I loved it. It's my 2nd favorite Bond film right behind GoldenEye which holds #1 for good. :-bd

    Wow, I'm glad you liked it THAT much. :) With you and Goldeneye and me and Casino Royale it seems neither of us will ever see another Bond film that does it for us the way those ones do.

    Will be 6th, because it will surpass "Inside Out" as well.
  • bondjames wrote: »
    Does anyone know what the Good Dinosaur is forecasted to do? Is this expected to be one of these Disney type steamrollers or not? e.g. an Inside Out or Minions type $850m to $1bn film?

    I have no clue on these kids fare. Some of the grosses they get just surprise me, although I realize there is a market for it out there.

    PS: If SP gets to $800m, that would possibly put it on par with QoS and CR roughly on ticket sales, given that there was a lot more higher priced IMAX/4K style gross with SP. Anything above is likely SF newbie fan retention.

    "The Good Dinosaur" will do very well. I've already mentioned that film earlier this year. It's the 2nd Pixar film and it's even more family-friendly than "Inside Out" if I may say so.

    I think it could gross $100 Million during this Thanksgiving opening weekend. Especially because it is a Thanksgiving premiere. And after that I think it's the movie that has the best chance to stay in the TOP 3 after "Star Wars 7" premieres.

    "SPECTRE" may be helped by the Thanksgiving weekend, but so will "The Good Dinosaur", "Hunger Games 4", "Creed", "Frankenstein" and "The Peanuts".

    But so far.....looking at the rather weak legs "SPECTRE" has....I'm not going to predict. Perhaps even a $10 Million gross will be too much to ask for. $7 Million?

    There are a lot of money men here I see. I have never thought about it too much but it gives me a lot to worry about now ad I scroll through posts to see that what if Bond facing Spectre doesn't reach 1.8 Billlion at the boxoffice? Is it a flop? We all remember the amazing spiderman 23.

    QOS made $6,7 million on its 4th weekend.
    And as SF already did less than QOS on it's 3rd weekend, I assume, we can predict about $6 million for next weekend.

    Which makes "SPECTRE" now rapidly fall down into "QOS" terrirtories. And perhaps it will also have trouble catching "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation". Sony is not going to be pleased about this.

    What's happening?! I find our views converging more and more often! Apart from on GE, obviously!

    BO figures make no sense to me. TB and SF are the two most successful Bond films, but for me personally two of my least favourite entries.

    Thunderball rode on the success of the first 3 Bonds, it was the height of 'Bondmania', Bond was very much in the public imagination, as with DC's Bond.

    No, that's not correct actually. I made the same mistake a few pages back. SP did worse than QoS in weekend 3 because that was QoS's Thanksgiving frame, but not SP's. This weekend is the US Thanksgiving frame for SP.....in weekend 4 unlike normally when it is in weekend 3. So it should surpass the QoS $6.7m easily and do something closer to what it did in weekend 3, but adjusted for the heavy hitter releases coming out this weekend, and also for the holdover of HG-MJ2. So I think around $10m to $11m is possible for the 3 day weekend. Anything more is a bonus

    I think it will surpass MI-RN, but the film is definitely not doing as well as had been hoped, by many, including the fans. Keep in mind that a lot of its opening 2 weekend's gross was on account of all the SF goodwill as well.....which makes any rapid decline subsequently quite troubling......Bond is known for its ability to hold strong over many weekends....that has always been true for a Bond film in the US

    I think so. It was certainly a mediocre experience for me. I liked some parts but on the whole I wasn't excited about the experience. It has little to 'connect' with those outside the hardcore (for which Blofeld etc. are very important due to the history). There are little things they could have done along the way to forge that connection (expand popular GoG/WWE Hinx's role for example). Or produce an extraordinary visceral set piece action scene. They did not do that, which is why many are talking about Mexico as the highlight.

    Just found out something really cool.
    The attendance for SP and SF was as follows in Norway after its 3rd weekend

    SP = 521 320
    SF = 521 213

    Very close indeed!

    But i must also report that SP has lost some steam now compared to SF
    After 4th weekend

    SP = 584 438
    SF = 600 177

    The final totals of CR, SF and QoS after their entire run:
    Edit: Had wrong numbers on my last post

    QoS = 487 464 (don't know if this is exactly the right number, but it was the last i found)
    CR = 585 440
    SF = 742 259

    I was distinctly nonplussed after my first viewing but second time round I really enjoyed it. Not sure why my views changed so much.

    I really like it, but also completely get all the criticisms. I actually noticed many of the same things that other people have criticised when I first saw it.

    I just think perhaps, like a few other Bond films that didn't get great buzz, that it might be a bit of a grower. I definitely think it has more rewatch value than SF, which is such a downer of a movie.

    I agree with this. I can tell that because I've enjoyed it more each time I've seen it in the theatre. I'm not in love with it at all, but I enjoy it more (in a detached sort of way). Same with QoS. I agree that SF doesn't grow on you that way (its impact is much more immediate) but I like that on rewatch too, mainly because of the performances and the aesthetics (which I much prefer to SP).

    However, the problem is I think the general public really won't give it that 2nd chance...first impressions count with a lot of people. I'm speaking strictly from a box office perspective here, given the thread title.

    India turned it's Back on Bond. So don't blame us for not tracking the numbers. At least you get Judy Dench in a role or two doing stunts and running around exotic marzipan hotels.

    Did you see her straddle the motorbike ?

    She said no thanks to doing it again but there she is riding backwards on a bike with no helmet full speed down the fairway at th e end of the second movie again. It's basically here signature move now like Bond's gunbarrel. I wonder gently if there will be a thirdle. But maybe for another post.
