The name's 25. Bond 25, or rather, it's NTTD.

    Why thank you! :)

Not at all @tigers99, I've read a numberof your comments which I have found fascinating, you are very insightful to the world of James Bond :)

Telling yourself how insightful you are to the world of James Bond, @tigers99?

I keep hearing "Shatterhand" lately from other Bond enthusiasts. That sounds like a great title.

It feels a bit like a continuation novel to me.

    Its directly from Ian Fleming.
  • Shames there aren't other Blofeld aliases for titles! The other one doesn't help much -

    Comte Balthazar de Bleuville

    Dr. Guntram Shatterhand

If Bond 25 continues the SP storyline, there are only 3 titles that I think EON would consider...
    SHATTERHAND
    BLOFELD
ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD

I'm fine with Shatterhand, has an old fashioned Bondian ring to it.
We haven't had a truly decent title since TLD imo. Fleming sure as hell had a knack for catchy titles.

    Odd you say that as

    Licence to Kill
    Goldeneye
    The World Is Not Enough
    Casino Royale
    Quantum of Solace
    And
    Spectre

Are all Fleming titles so I am curious why you praise Fleming's titles and then say how we haven't had a good title since The Living Daylights.

Only two of those are Fleming titles.

And one thing that I agree with Craig on is that The Property of a Lady is not a very good title. Sounds like a film for a different audience. Namely pulp romance.

The Property of A Lady could work in many ways and it doesn't have to have a Fleming story but an escapist story with an aristocratic lady villain.

She could be a baroness. A very beautiful one at that. She holds secrets to many government officials and could easily expose them in case they disobey her for instance. She could be the leader of a crime syndicate that holds something quite valuable to MI-6 and Bond is sent to solve the problem. Many scenarios are in my mind right now, but you got the initial idea of where I am going with this.

We're due for a longer title.

I still think The Rough with the Smooth (the original title of FAVTAK) could work.

Licence to kill was a phrase Fleming can up with and was part of the very first novel Casino Royale
Goldeneye was what Fleming named his Jamacian Estate
The World is not Enough from On Her Majesties Secret Service and Fleming came up with it.
Spectre is the name of the organization Fleming created and named for Thunderball AND it's a chapter title from Thunderball.

So these are all Fleming titles

    How about

The Nature of Evil it's a chapter title from Casino Royale.

Die Another Day is by Fleming too: https://www.mi6-hq.com/news/index.php?itemid=6071&catid=1&t=tb&s=cr

I like Nature of Evil for Bond 25.
  • 1) Use the remaining Fleming titles first, whether or not elements of the stories have already been used in the series. Don't use 'OO7 in New York'; it's closer to being a sketch than a story, and its origin was in THRILLING CITIES. Not really part of the canon.
    This leads to:
    2) Don't use 'James Bond' or 'OO7' in a title. It's inconsistent with the rest of the series so far. When you use the brand name, its as if you're grinding out just another sequel (Charlie Chan, Tarzan), and the effort should be to allow each Bond film to stand on its own -- have its own identity.

Interesting that, in one of the early leaked scripts Bond 24 was referred to as The Death Collector at one point. 100% Fleming but not too sure about that as a film title. I've tried to imagine it on a billboard but just doesn't look right to me.

I agree with this. 007 In New York would be a truly dismal effort.

If they want to go with another 'S' title, perhaps something along the below lines... as anything with 'Storm' in it sounds suitably grandiose & cinematic

    SLIDESTORM

    STORMCLIMBER

    STORMSLIDER

    STORMFINDER

    STORMWAKER

    STORMWINDER

    STORMWANKER :P

Is there anyone that would actually enjoy the utilization of the title '007 In New York'? Sounds so generic to me.

I can't see "007 in New York" as a viable title either. Luckily, I would think that, of the remaining Fleming titles or chapter titles, it's probably the least likely to end up as the title of a future Bond film.

007 in New York doesn't seem like a relevant title. At best it has the qualification to be a chapter title, or if something related to Bond is produced in the form of a documentary... or the title of an event held in New York regarding Bond's presence.

Other than that, I can't see it working as the title of anything, let alone a film. If I recall correctly, Fleming wanted to give the short story a different title... if my memory serves me right.
