Highly unlikely -I think it's 'Jaguar' and 'Range Rover' this time. Both are owned by 'Tata Motors' which is probably why...Shame really :(

Haven't heard anything yet. But I'd like to see the DBS (or newer) "fully loaded" with gadgets at some point in the next few movies.

I agree, that would be awesome. Hopefully we'll get 'q' back at some point and he'll fix that up for us.. :)

I believe the contract with Aston Martin expired with QUANTUM OF SOLACE.

It would be good to see the new Virage in SkyFall...
  • maybe that's shocking plot line - the Aston is a double agent and shags the jag and land rover before shunting them off london bridge.

Everyone loves a sex-crazed, maniacal anthropomorphic car. Just look at Herbie! That's where the millions of little baby Volkswagons could come into the plot!

I'm not too concerned what car Bond drives really. I'd prefer an Aston Martin but what will be, will be.

I'd be happy to see an Aston again, but I'm also very welcome to the idea of Bond driving something different. It would be a breath of fresh air.

Maybe Bond should rent and return the car for once. He did in the novels. That would make for a nice change.

The question is, will Bond return it in pristine order?

What about in Casino Royale (film)- the Ford Mondeo, wasn't that rented?

For once, yes. I think he would. As long as he's not in a vicious car chase - which has been done before.

I'd like to see Bond actually go and rent the car though, then return it during the course of the film.
  • Ah I see, not like in Casino Royale, where instead he left it and made of with someones DB5 :)

I would like a DB5 cameo, just him driving to work etc...nothing distracting to the story. :-D

Since Craig is rather similar to Dalton, how about a '87 Vantage cameo?

  • Old cars have an Air of UsedNess' that is why Bond's cars might never get to old..to catch the cold war again..!?..

Out of curiosity, who pays who for these cars? Does Aston or whatever car company just supply these cars as a product placement sort of thing?

I believe so. I think that Aston (or whatever brand is being used) is also monetarily compensated. Combined with the product placement value, it seems like a pretty good deal.

  • Let him drive the Aston Martin or the Ford but not the Jaguar or Range Rover.

Wrong way around, I'm afraid. Aston Martin are the ones who pay to have their cars in the film. Not EON. That's what product placement ("promotional consideration") is.

Well, he doesn't drive the Range Rover (as far as we know).

The Aston Martin DB5 will feature in Skyfall.

When I read that, all I can think about is the James Bond theme in my head.

Am I the only one who gets a bit depressed by this obsession with the DB5 featuring in the modern films for apparently no reason?

We've had it in GE, TND, CR and now SF. It smacks to me of a lazy homage the likes of which helped drag DAD down.
It just feels out of place. Bonds car in the books might be a classic but its got it when it matters and its difficult to outpace him. However if a villain is escaping from a casino in a modern supercar todays Bond would be left trundling along in his dust in this old banger.

The DB5 is an iconic part of Bond history but thats exactly what it is - history. The same with the PPK it used to look the part, but in QOS it looked like a museum piece. If Bond is going to be rebooted so that he was in the SAS and fought in Afghanistan or whatever then why is he still using antiquated equipment? Perhaps its because MI6 has spent all its budget on vast Minority Report style touch screen displays at HQ?

The DB5 is also in TWINE- but blink and you'll miss it.

As mentioned in the Aston Martin DB5 Returns thread, Bond can get away with using his personal car in a chase if he is not on a current mission, but while he's driving, he receives a call of emergency and has to get to M straight away. Bond- with M as his passenger, must flee from the pursuing villains who will stop at nothing to kill M.

This, I would love to see.

Just been confirmed that the classic Aston Martin DB5 will return in Skyfall. A sound appointment.

Wonder whether Q (Ben Whishaw) will have implemented any gadgets on vehicle ? ejection seat LOL
