Your most anticipated Bond event ever!

You were waiting for something. It was something Bond related. You were looking forward to it like it meant the world to you...

What's your <b>top 3</b> of most anticipated events in the world of Bond?

    I'll start:
    1. James Bond scores, enhanced, finally released. I ordered them online. When I received that email, saying my package had been sent to my home, I freaked out and had trouble falling asleep the next two nights. When it finally arrived, I swear I was in heaven. I actually spent quite some time debating with myself over which score I'd listen to first. I shall never forget... It ended up being OHMSS. Good choice, wouldn't you say? :)>-

    2. Casino Royale opening in Belgian theatres. I was there, day 1, first showing. I had marked that date very well on my calendar. And for more than a week prior to seeing it, I spent dreaming about the film, watching the trailer over and over again. I drove the car mid afternoon to my local theatre, bought two tickets, drove back home, forced myself to sleep for a few hours - which was confusingly difficult - drove the car to the theatre 90 minutes in advance, so that I'd be first in line for the film. Helped myself to a good dosage of caffeine before walking in and had the time of my life!

    3. Seeing TB for the first time in my life as a kid. Eagerly I had been anticipating this film. I was 6 when I had seen my first Bond film: DN. I was a fan almost immediately. When I read in the TV magazine later that week that TB would play on one of the Dutch TV channels on a Saturday no less, I jumped like a madman. Firstly, I was fortunate it was on a Dutch channel. That meant it had subs. At age 6, my English was ... well, pretty much non-existent I suppose. ;;) Secondly, it was on a Saturday, which was good. Had it been on any other day but Saturday or Friday, my parents wouldn't have let me stay up! :-W [Note to self; if I ever have kids, anything Bond comes first!] It was '88 by the way and we wouldn't have our first VCR till somewhere in '93. So I had to rely on our TV stations being kind enough to serve me a few Bonds every year which, unfortunately, they didn't make a habbit of.

    Mine was GE. I remember in 1995 when I was 10 and it had come out in the cinema. I had never seen a Bond film before and was excited by THAT poster but, due to the film being a 12 in the UK, I was too young to go and see it. An older friend of mine saw it and said it was great - that left me even more excited.

    When it came out on VHS about 6 months later (it took longer in those days ;) ) my mum got the video. I watched it and loved it. GE was the film that started my love affair with Bond and PB was my first image of the commander. Hence why I will continue to defend him 'till the day I die :)

    I suppose another would be watching TND for the first time. It was my first experience with 007 in the cinema and I remember coming out having enjoyed it.

    Can't really think of a 3rd at the moment but I do remember being very excited each time a new Brosnan film came out. I used to book tickets in advanced and insist on seeing it on the opening night :)

    CR I was pretty excited about aswell but, as soon as I had left the cinema, my reaction was that of uncertainty. Frankly I missed Pierce, and it was only after seeing the film a second time that I appreciated it more.

    Definitely the release of Casino Royale. Long before it was even known it was going to be an official film in the franchise, and probably going back as far as the mid-1990s when I first read it, Fleming's first Bond novel was and continues to be one of my all-time favorite novels. So, for me, just the idea of seeing one of my favorite novels finally being given the cinematic treatment was something I was very much looking forward to, and throwing the fact that it was the first Bond film in four years and after a relatively lackluster stretch of films just added to that bonus.

    On top of that as well, though, was the fact that Daniel Craig was taking over the part. The moment he was mentioned as a contender for the part he was the only one that I wanted to see in the role, so the combination of everything I said above plus the casting of Daniel Craig makes Casino Royale easily my most anticipated Bond event.

    My #1 was probably attending the World Premiere of GoldenEye. I was 10 feet away from Pierce Brosnan, spoke briefly to Femke Janssen, saw Desmond Llewlyn, Izabella Scorupco and Sean Bean as well as MGW and Martin Campbell. Unfortunately I left the movie underwhelmed from the huge build up. The best part really was meeting many of the people I had chatted with on the old alt.fan.jamesbond usergroup.

    #2 Dare to Be Bond #2 in 2007 in Las Vegas. Again, I got to meet and hang out with many friends from CommanderBond.net


    #3 Date to Be Bond #3 in 2008 Las Vegas.

    Your #1 sounds fantastic jaguar. Whilst I've always loved GE I have felt underwhelmed by other Bond films, strangely the first time I saw both CR and QoS. However my admiration for the former has grown.

    Sir, I am jealous of thee. GE is one of my favourite all-time Bonds. Seeing that incredible list of names makes . me . so . sad . I wasn't there.

    It was quite an event. There was a convention the day before with much of the cast and production team taking the stage and discussing the film (we were shown quite a bit of footage before the premiere). I was fortunate to be in the front row just about center during the convention. There were also many vendors selling memorabilia.

    For me the last Bond movie I walked out of without feeling a bit let down was TLD, that is until CR. Unfortunately I also felt a bit let down by QoS.

    I know this isn't related to a film strictly speaking but in 2008 I went to an event in London to mark the 100th anniversary of Fleming's birth. Many people who were associated with Bond over the years were there, including Sir Rog and Daniel Craig.

    They also played clips from the then-upcoming QoS.

    That was a great event :)

    I also went to a book signing by Sir Rog (funnily enough only a week later) and got to shake his hand.

    well really waited to see CR and QoS.Mostly CR and Craig as Bond.now i also want to see Bond 23.that both movies that was released in my time.Bronsan movies were released too but i was too young (really young)

    1.) My most anticipated Bond event was certainly seeing Casino Royale in theaters -- for the first time in my life, I was getting a chance to watch a Bond film on the big screen that was actually, you know, good.

    2.) Seeing Quantum of Solace in theaters. After the great-looking trailers and CR's excellent critical reviews, I was very excited for Craig's second entry. And unlike many people on the forums, I wasn't disappointed.

    3.) At one point, I remember eagerly anticipating EA's From Russia With Love video game. In retrospect, I feel rather silly about this one. #-O

    I did get very excited at the prospect of meeting George Lazenby at an autograph fair, a few years ago, he was really nice and talkative while he signed signed a photo for me...mind you at £25 a pop I should bloody well think so.
    Actually he was really modest and as I got there late in the day and there was no queuing I got to chat with him at some length about his movie work and even suggested he should do a autobiography ( When it comes out next year I'm thinking royalties George), though I was mildly disappointed that at no time during our conversation did he say I would make a really good Bond (even though I was doing the raised eyebrow and everything), though I expect he just thought I heard that all the time. My only real regret is that I was so excited by meeting my favourite James Bond I completley blanked Maryam d'Abo who had a stall right next door.
