"I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time." - James Bond's motto from Ian Fleming's You Only Live Twice.

It would be far more believable and consistent with the Bond tradition, if Bond were a regular, but light smoker, indulging expensive tastes, (as Bond is wont to do) with simply a lean, strong build, rather than the crane-hopping gym-body Olympic athlete Bond that we met in CR.
Personally I think Craig overdoes the workout. Lean and strong looking is all that's needed. Leave the big muscles to Rambo or Superman.
Why should Dan jeopardize his health and smoke just so you can be happy? Just so you can like his Bond? Shameful.
Quit with the sanctimony. He's an actor for crying out loud!
How shallow can people get?! The lengths of ignorance have no bounds.
Fake. On the AMC show, the actors smoke Ecstacy herbal cigarettes, which are tobacco- and nicotine-free. "You don't want actors smoking real cigarettes," show creator Matthew Weiner recently told The New York Times. "They get agitated and nervous. I've been on sets where people throw up, they've smoked so much."
Christian Bale lost 100 lbs for THE MACHINIST. Daniel Craig can easily smoke for a couple of fags.
Rog was already 45 by the time he did LALD.... Daniel is not yet 45.
by the time Rog did Bond film #7, he was 57... Daniel would be around 50.
Daniel keeps himself physically in much better shape for handling physically demanding performances... Rog did not - that doesn't mean Moore didn't keep in good shape - it's just not the kind that could take physical abuse... Rog wasn't that type of performer.
that is why no matter what, a stunt double is always around... I admire Daniel for wanting to go all out, and do most of his own stunt work - but when it gets to be too much... let the double earn his check - that is what he is there for.
now as far as smoking goes...... wasn't Daniel a big supporter of wanting to smoke in CR?...... the reason why they don't is because of a stupid fine that they have to pay each time someone lights up a cigarette on screen.... it's the same thing about guns on movie posters (or something close to that, like guns being pointed at people in posters and in trailers).. its all this child coddling BS - which is why the guns in the hands of police officers in ET were replaced with walkie talkies - and why the rifles the russian soldiers were holding in the trailer for Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull were all pointing to the ground, and not at Indy..... what a load of crap.
the more we shelter children - the more harm we do........ fact.
But again i cannot see that happening although i like DC in the role. Due also to the good possibility of him making the other two Stig Larrson films! But i am happy for him to stay as long as he wishes too?
well Dan will be 44 in March, and Skyfall will be his 3rd outing..
MGM has already stated they want Bond back on an every 2 year schedule, like during the years between TSWLM - LTK.. and from GE - TWINE... so, if that does indeed hold up.... his 8th outing, Bond #28, he would be 54 years old.... provided he still keeps himself in good shape, and even wants to go that far in the role - then by all means, have at it.... even Pierce, though he was obviously getting older, was still fit enough to go at least 1 or 2 more outings after DAD - he hadn't reached AARP status yet like Moore in AVTAK lol.
And Here comes the Invisible Car bit.. :-<
I must be a movie masochist
well, had Brosnan stuck around - Casino Royale would've been held off.
Someone jokingly decided to write what would of been changed in Royale had brosnan stayed the funniest bit was instead of le chiffe saying "wow your in good shape" he would of said this
"My god your hairy"
lol
lol! true. if they can spend plenty of time on scripts? Dan may stick around but they need to be already writing it and planning ahead? Although they had the material for the books, thats what they did with the Harry Potter films.
If they have been working on the script for over 2 years and it is a damn good one? Surely you hope that they have learned from this and are already getting people onboard to
Of course Royale would have changed if Brosnan had managed a fifth entry, not for me to say, you know damn well what would of been omitted and altered if the Irishman had done the film rather than Craig in the role, I can see now in retrospect it may well have worked here and there for Brosnan in this release, but for the most part it's blatantly obvious he was wholly inappropriate this time around
Sadly Brosnan, who for the most part was a worthwhile and at times tangible rendition of the Fleming creation, departed the franchise in lame style similar to Moore especially at the very end with the Diamonds in the belly nonsense on the cliff top
James Bond 007 is a Naval Commander, not a Navel fool
