Aston Martin's Look MURDERED?! UPDATED: They Did It Again!

Today Ford, once owned under the same branch as Aston Martin (if not still?) revealed its Ford Focus Electric, and what a disgrace.

The problem isn't that its -only- $40,000, or that it is a Ford, or by that even a Ford Focus. No, the problem is its look.
Take a gander and see if you don't see a mangled Aston staring back at you:

;

And the fatal blow, why the Ford sign above that infamous grill.
Shameful.

Do you think this is some easy marketing ploy to get the new car featured in 23?

Haha, was that decided before or after this post?

I'll admit, it looks good.. but I don't think I could take you seriously if you stepped out in a tux :P

My point is, they couldn't be original. Your taking a design worth 3x-4x more than a Focus, and well, putting it on what was not too long ago the ugliest car in America.

Yeah, it just looks weird. I think the grille is too big.

I wonder if they meant to do it. It does look pretty odd.

Funny how its the exact opposite of what a DBS tries to be.

It's something you'd expect from a Korean company, not Ford. I think it's a bad move and won't help their sales. On the other hand, many people would settle for the ' lookalike' and fantasize they got the real thing. Oh wel..

Come to think of it, Aston Martin does seem interested in a small efficient car.
    Just look at this:

Now I personally think the ford looks better than that, but thats an official Aston..

I wonder if the new focus was a concept of AM's while they were under the same boss..

It looks like they did it for a joke. Actually, it looks photoshopped.

The Cygnet is real, sadly. The only reason AM made it was to balance out their 'economy ratings'. The good thing about this is, AM will still be feeding all our gas-guzzling V12 needs.

Ford continues to butcher the Aston Martin look with their 2013 Ford Fusion. It shares a near identical grill design as the famous Aston martin. AND its a hybrid.

  • You guys do realize that Ford still owns part of Aston Martin, right?

Besides, it doesn't look like an Aston Martin to the extent to where you can't tell if it is an AM or not. If anything, I'd say it looks like a Lancer.

not keen on that new look focus? :-& shame really as i do like the current models but that grill without the badge just doesn't look tight?

The new Fusion looks like a reasonable priced upper-middle mans Aston Martin, so why not make it a reasonable priced upper-middle mans Aston, not Ford.

I'm definitely getting that Fusion (though not the Hybrid, as long as the look is the same).

Its the Ford equivalent as the Chevy Cruze, I'm not sure its offered as an alternate to a hybrid.

That Cygnet is a Astonised version of a Toyota crap just for complying with the European Carbon Emission Norms called I don't know what.
Agree with TopGear that it doesn't look like an AM to that extent. If you want to feel better, just google any Aston (except of course the Cygnet) and you'll feel reborn.

Btw you do realize you accidentally advertised the ford?

I don't see how it DOESN'T look like an Aston. To me it looks exactly what a reasonably priced Aston would look like. I just wish it wasn't under Fords name. I like the car and all..

I just saw it in video, and even the rear headlamps share the distinctiveness of the DB9.

I kinda wish, like Toyota with Scion, we could have kept the unique look of both companies.

now, Why would Ford make the focus looks like an Aston Martin DB9 tho? are they just jealous? or do they still own them??

Because it will sell, obviously. It looks good. Plus, they owned Aston Martin not too many years ago, so they have an excuse to use the designs.
  • I can see people fantacizing it as an Aston Martin.

Precisely why Ford did it. Moneyyyyyy.
  • They also did it to the Ford Fusion too I'd notice

I've been seeing these Fords on the streets. They look strikingly similar to Aston Martin.

You can now drive like Bond... for $85,000 less.
