I had hoped we would hear something, but alas. Hundreds of new posts, was something discussed, at least?
Summary of everything Bond-wise that was discussed:

-He notes that while no decision has been made regarding Bond 25, "Were [he] to stop doing it, [he'd] miss it terribly."
-When asked if Bond driving away with Madeleine was the end, he responded with, "Yes, at the moment that's what he thinks, but it always says 'to be continued'."
-On B25's status, he states that, "there’s no conversation going on, and genuinely because everybody’s just a bit tired.”
-Craig adamantly denies any allegation that he had been offered $150 million to return

Look on the bright side guys and girls :-). Now we have to wait longer for a new Bond film, we don't have to buy loads of new goodies and merchandise related to the Bond franchise ;-). Let alone another new BluRay box set :-P. We can enjoy our collections...like they are right now.....without feeling the need to buy more Bond stuff :-P.

I think the clearest take on this is Dan is still 007. There wasn't anything to indicate that once pre-production gears up, he won't be wearing the tux.

    Unless Babs changes her mind.

However, it feels as if she, the producer of DC's current stage production, and he, know exactly what is going on; and that feeling is, she's nowhere close to firing her lead man (in fact, she finds projects outside of the 007 franchise to continue working with him, during "off hours" (Othello)).

Well, after all, Craig and Broccoli are off screen very close friends. It's a real intimate friendship and absolutely incomparable to the relationship she had with Brosnan. This picture more or less seals it :-):

It's pretty obvious Craig will not return. In 2019 he will be too old and another 4 year gap will not work well with the same actor.
    A new start will happen.
So now we can concentrate on actors in the age group of 30 to 35 because in 2019/2020 they will be the right age to play Bond.

    Hiddleston born in 1981
    Turner born in 1983

Both are possible and I believe one of them will be it. EON will need a household name but someone that is not in the A-List. So Chris Hemsworth for instance will be too famous.

Unless of course Turner or Hiddleston will belong to the A-List by 2018/2019 which I don't believe.

He made it clear that nothing whatsoever has been done or planned since Spectre hit the theaters. Craig will turn 50 in 2018.
A new Bond will not be made until 2019 obviously. Craig will be 51 one then and it would be another 4 year gap.
How is this a realistic scenario?? Not in my book.

You're assuming way way too much Jason. Way too much. And most of your assumptions perhaps come from your previous remarks before the interview in which you were certain Craig would retire. It's called disappointment from your side. Not factual news :-).

Yes I am very disappointed. I'd rather had him retire yesterday than just give us Nothing in a high profile interview like this.

What angers me is his remark that everybody still is tired... sorry that's just not acceptable. It's been one year.

Anyway I will stay silent in this matter now. I am angry and disappointed, the next phase will be resignation.

If Craig would return for Bond 25 I would be very, very surprised and question if it is reasonable, unless of course the film hits the theaters in 2018, but does anybody believe in this scenario now?

And, to expand on GG's point: if Babs wants him to stay, he'll stay. Put DC in the gym and, like TC in the MI films, he will be just as believable as he ever has been in the role. Age really doesn't factor into it, since we know Craig's athletic and, again like TC, he's a very physical actor.

This is the worst time for any Bond fan! We always get itchy, impatient months before pre-production, and when there's a news drought, and gossip fills the media, it makes it worse! But I've learned to live with it! I think if pre-production starts in the New Year, there's no reason why Bond 25 wont be in Theatres in Nov. 2018! With Craig as Bond!!
  • What I got from the interview is that until MGM start the ball rolling, then bond 25 is in limbo, and Craig doesn't need to make his mind up until MGM can find a distributor! Unfortunately MGM has had a bad year with big flops in Ben her and magnificent seven so could be getting into financial difficulties again. I wish MGM would sell bond off to another studio who could have a long time plan with the franchise.

It's also perceptive to say this:

    - actor Tom Cruise is 54 years old. He played Ethan Hunt 5 times
    - actor Robert Downey Jr. is 51 years old. He played Tony Stark 7 times (up for his 8th and 9th time in "Spiderman: Homecoming" and "Avengers: Infinity War")
    - actor Hugh Jackman is 48 years old. He played Wolverine 7 times (up for his 8th in "Logan")

    - actor Daniel Craig is 48 years old too. He played James Bond 007 4 times. I'd say he is young enough to continue playing Bond for a while.

Why the comparison? Because I think it's a valid comparison. It shows that age has nothing to do with all this in the world of blockbuster characters like Ethan Hunt and Tony Stark. Moreover, EON Productions could still make a very good Bond film somewhere in 2019, by giving Craig simply less screentime (and perhaps make it more of a movie about the villain). Hugh Jackman and Downey Jr. did the same time. They came back, but demanded less heavy and exhausting shooting schedules. Something like that can be done with Daniel Craig as well.

In the end what counts for me is a damn good James Bond film. Not just an assembly line-style of Bond films like we had in the past. And in all honesty, I don't mind a longer wait. To me the Craig era has been damn fine so far. I am 35 years old now. I don't mind Daniel to focus with Barbara on 'Othello' and in the meanwhile film the new Todd Field TV-Series 'Purity'.

James Bond will always return :-).

We all age differently and Craig has always looked a bit older than his years. More than any other actor to play Bond, he knows how to stay in shape. From the neck down I think he could play the part for another decade-plus; but obviously, the longer the gap between films, the more noticeable will be his aging.

Obviously we are all a little weary and frustrated at the lack of news, nearly one year removed from SPECTRE's release. However, SP was a bit of a unique case. Building off the success of Skyfall, EON pulled all the strings to make sure Mendes returned. His schedule was already heavily booked and so they locked him up earlier on in the production schedule. There was a long long time between the initial announcements of Director, Writer, and the reveal of the film's name where we didn't have any information, but we were all okay with that because we knew it would be 2015. If we were told a guaranteed release year, everyone would be a lot more calm and excited (unless it was 2021 :D).

I guess we both didn't expect too much eh ;-)? I am still very very happy. I don't need to heavily buy up the 'Bond On Set' books for the moment hehe. Their prices will stay the same for the moment :-P.

I wonder how Sam Mendes feels about Craig kissing his ex-wife.

I don't think Sam has a problem with that, considering Daniel's more than kissing the other ex of Sam :D

    Some comments here are amusing.

Spoiled, illogical, whiny and childish sum them up pretty well.

For those that feel there's nothing to discuss RE Bond 25, there's the door, don't let it hit your arse on the way out. We don't need to hear your tired petulance in this space, as it's all we've heard since SP came out, motivated by nothing concrete or sensical.

For those like me that want to discuss a fun night and talk with Daniel, by all means stay, as you know who you are. Basically everyone that was here along with me as it happened in real time, enjoying the event of it all and deciding to be happy and optimistic rather than moping and cynical; I thank you all for that. Because we are the ones that know what is going on, and can look at comments from the night with clear eyes without making statements that hold no real water and only serve to prove our own odd perceptions of how things are going.

What's clear to me and many others here is that Daniel is far from considering leaving the role. The emphatic and electrically-charged responses he made about his time with Bond last night convey the picture of a man who is ready and willing to do more when the time is right, and who now more than ever loves his job and appreciates what it allows him to do as an actor inside and outside the tux. Which are all feelings from Dan I and countless others have been defending for months now as a select few here (you also know who you are) try to argue he's in it all for the money, hates Bond, and is now past his expiration date.

Those of you who always act in this way, and continue to act in this way-like children in many respects-don't surprise me, but all your mewling tears aren't going to rain on the parade of those who meet this day with optimism and encouragement. Perhaps we can recommend you to our oculists so you can fix your foggy and downright embarrassing perceptions of the state of play?

Today I'll be on the look-out for David Zaritsky's vlog post on YouTube about the event, and when it reveals itself, I'll post it here. Until then, you lot behave, and don't act like newborns in the maternity ward.

    Well said, @Brady.

Let's all take a breather. Like I said before, knowing that Craig is still undecided is better than knowing he's quit for good.

This might sound daft ,but i'm getting a vibe of cockiness from Craig..like he thinks he is bigger than EON etc..which might be down to him producing ...he seems over confident, bordering on arrogant, which is not good for the next Bond film.....i actually think it might be time to let him go and start with a fresh enthusiastic actor....

Go and read a Fleming and stop moaning you insufferable people.

Doesn't sound the least bit arrogant to me:

By the way, here's a new clip:

Honestly, judging from this interview, it looks as if he's got another Bond in him. And I think he knows it too.
