So THAT'S where all that shit in my basement came from with all the funny writing & toxic/nuclear symbols on them...

@chrisisall, don't blow the lid off this thing. :-$ I'm going to sell the story to the highest bidder, as I've got a video tape of the aforementioned ancient magicians playing with portals in downright, utterly "crisp" viewing quality. You don't even want to know what I saw them bring into our world from the fifth dimension.

Well this thread is at least getting more entertaining. ;) And salmon is my favorite poisson, @BeatlesSansEarmuff. Now I'm hungry.

Anyone who thinks Trump won that debate, needs a reality check. But no one on this thread, from what I can tell, will be changing their minds anyway. And onwards we go ... not that much longer to wait, fortunately. Pax, everybody.

Oh, I very much doubt that anyone's minds were changed due to the debate, and the odds that anyone's minds will be changed after the next debate are also slim.

Clinton's lead in some polls is up to double digits. So some minds were changed, somehow, at some point. Tape leak? debate? Both?

Sorry to have reality intrude on your fantasy world, @CASINO, but Hillary didn't bring up the subject of Trump's Galore Grabbing tape. The debate MODERATORS brought it up. Trump only beat his own dramatically-lowered expectations. He didn't entirely self-destruct in Debate #2 as had been the case in #1, so to the Trump spinmeisters it's being hailed as a victory. And BTW, odds makers are now giving Hillary about an 85/15% advantage in their estimates of how the election is playing out. The Republican mainstream is divided only in whether they want to edge cautiously away from him, or sprint away briskly. The Trump campaign is a train-wreck barreling down the track to oblivion. Enjoy the ride!

Oh, and re: Obamacare: just a few weeks ago a friend of mine confided to me that he would literally -- LITERALLY-- be dead right now without it. Sorry the idea of insuring the uninsured doesn't suit you but I'm siding with Hillary's idea of fixing Obamacare rather than abandoning it. I think my friend would understand and appreciate my position, sorry that you evidently don't.

Im glad your friend can afford it!
Being a broke college student who had to drop out and get a full time job 6-7 days a week no way I could afford to pay $1K a month on Obama care.

Judging by your comments, methinks it would have been a better move sticking with the education.
Actually to my total surprise the media here also declared Trump the winner of the debate.
Personally I think it doesn't matter anyway. There was never a chance that Trump would win the election.
I'm still certain history will be made in November when the Reps will lose state after state after state. The voting map will look drastically different.

In four years the Reps will make a comeback (hopefully) with a reformed party and reasonable people at the top. If they have any sense left they will crush the Tea Party that has held them hostage for the last 8 years.

If the Republicans want the oval office back, they need to offer up to the American people candidates that don't lend themselves so easily to such parody and embarrassment. Gingrich, Perry, Santorum, Palin, Cruz and on and on. The past few years have been a circus.

You can go f*ck yourself haha.
I had 4.0s all throughout high school and 4.0s in all of my college classes straight A's and did I mention the majority of the classes I took were all history and government classes?

We are all entitled to our own opinions I have not bashed anyone or personally attacked anyone for liking Hillary..

I do not appreciate you personally attacking me claiming I am stupid.

If you want to go in that direction then you are obviously challenged. I bet my car is nicer than yours and you probably had no where near the grades that I had or won a national and state championship in a sport. So before you attack someone you better be able to back your shit up.

I think the majority of those were down to undecideds finally making a leap (likely a majority of women, as they are the reported hold-outs).

People that've made their beds with either Trump or Clinton, however, will stay there until election day, I'd say. People not bugged by Trump's lying and scandals won't be shifted from that position no matter what is released next, nor will Clinton supporters who care not for her e-mail faux pas and some of her own lies.

I think much of this is down to the fact that nothing could be released that would really surprise people voting for or against each candidate. People voting for Trump and Hillary are at peace with their actions and character, and have accepted their apologies for everything both of them have done, and those against each won't waver in their pointed stances against either. We expect Trump to be a big-mouthed pig, just as we expect Clinton to have an untrustworthy demeanor in some respects and have shoddy explanations for her past comments.

Nothing we've seen thus far changes either candidate's narrative, and nothing will, so it's a game of getting the undecided voters brainwashed into falling in support of one of the two.

No need to take my comments seriously, @CASINOROYALE, as I was (mostly) playing around. I should have included an emoticon after my post to make this clearer, as I find them useful for conveying a sense of frivolity and avoiding genuinely offending people.

I don't care to play a vain game of dick or "brain" measuring with you, as it wouldn't end well for either of us. I actually finished college, graduated summa cum laude (that's Latin for "with the highest distinction" if you're a bit out of practice) in the top 1% of my class, made dean's list or higher in honors every semester of the four years, gained membership into prestigious academic societies and nationally ranked academic listings, became a published author, studied abroad and was the sole award winner of both an award for my major and was also the highest academic achiever out of every student in my discipline and department.

I hate all sports outside of Quidditch (and I would be a damn good seeker if it existed in our world), so you've got me on the sports thing (always been more of a brain over body guy), and I'm not really a car man, so you'd beat me out there too even if your car was a rusted up 50s Chevy laid up on cinder blocks. ;)

I'm a bit keen on golf though, so when I train enough to win a Masters or PGA tournament and can then afford an Aston Martin DB5 or at the very least a cool classic muscle car, I'll come back to you.

Can we agree on a draw for now? :P

To be fair, @TripAces, in a moment of weakness I was out of line. I didn't call him stupid, but I did make a somewhat playful judgement that questioned how informed he may have been on issues dealing with politics and how, from a sociological perspective, candidates were expected to act, as he supported the way Trump acted and spoke without criticism.

I shouldn't have been so quick to enter debate, however, no matter my charged feelings.

No, it is not. There are rebels opposing the Assad regime, and there are terrorists wanting to exploit the situation and expand their territory.

And Breivik, was he a terrorist or a moderate rebel?

Max Manus, was he a terrorist? Che Guevara?

This is a waste of time. Its usual to separate rebels from terrorists when dealing with Syria. Being against Assad does not make you a jihadist. The point is that Russian troops are just as much there to help Assad as to fight ISIS. Pointing that out is not "lying".

    Now move on...

Why move on? Max Manus fought an occupying power. Breivik attacked a legitimately elected government. The "rebels" in Syria have done the same. Just because it is the Middle East doesn t change the rules. The Russians are there to help protect the government, they were invited. The "rebels" were equipped by foreign powers. Those same foreign powers have engaged militarily outside all international law. Don t be so easily fooled.

Not that I ever doubted any of it but just WOW anyway.

You and I in my heydey would have made a smashing duo.
I finished high school, dropped out of University to join the army, my only skills were sports and seducing the ladies (and gents) which I only got A's for always. There was no chance I would have made it through University anyway.
I played soccer professionally and made it so far to be selected and playing in the national team U19 and U21 for Switzerland.
In the army I was one of 5 guys out of 200 that finally got into special forces para-scout reconnaissance after a harrowing year long selection process.
I did my first halo jump at 19.
My rank is commander which is as far as you can get without going to the very top of the Swiss Army. I retired last year because I couldn't spend most of the time in an Army office and commanding from a desk which eventually would have happened had I climbed up one more step in the ranks.

To use Bond as a reference you would be Fiennes M to me being Dalton's Bond. As I said, a smashing duo.
Now @Creasy47 could be our Q, wouldn't you say.
Imagine the things we could accomplish together, even before breakfast.
We certainly would have saved the world a couple of times by now.
Something could be done about that Trump business, I feel a mission coming up...
Somewhere there's a C in all of this that has to be dealt with. We still got a couple of weeks...

Are you joking? They rebel against a political party that took power through a military coup in 1963, who have been charged of corruption, assasinations and prosecutions without trial. A 'government' which military reaction to the protestors has been condemned by the UN, EU and several arabic countries. Russia and China have their political reasons to keep Assad in power against the will of the people. That is what's going on.

The campaign and the debate are a showcase for american values etc. I think the USA has lost a lot of respect in terms of global opinion. Its been a shambles and there is little to be proud of if your are from the USA. Actually, there is much to be ashamed of. At times, the debate reminded me more of the Jeremy Kyle show.
I was never a fan a Reagan and he was ridiculed by the media as the ex actor etc but, with hindsight, he was....well, what a President should be.

Wow. What a resume. You're obviously someone that people worship and adore. I struggled to make 'D';s in school. But I did like the 4th grade and took it 5 times and did quite well. I tried to read a big book one time, but the pictures were too frightening. Those 3 Little Pigs were brave souls. I bought a sweet car-a lime green Yugo, but I can't drive it too far. Not one person told me I needed tires. What a ripoff.

I too play golf alot and I intend to turn pro next year. I still struggle with the windmill hole and the alligator hole is puzzling to me. If I wanted to join the military, I'd want to start as a general, because they seem to get the nicer uniforms and best looking chicks. I love authentic Mexican food and wonder how Taco Bell does it so well. Do you know?

I'm not a doctor like you, but I always thought that one could not f@ck themself. Perhaps you can show us how you do it.

There's a distinct whiff of the hand size argument here. I'm sure everyone's is adequate. That purported link hasn't been proven either, as far as I'm aware.

OH how many times must I correct you. Have you NEVER heard of 'digit ratio'? You really really need to upgrade and expand your news sources. Here is an excerpt from TIME about a study done on digit ratio:

The data suggested that those with a lower ratio, whose index finger (or second finger, 2D) was shorter than the ring finger (or fourth finger, 4D), had a longer stretched penis length, which is well correlated with erect size.

“Based on this evidence, we suggest that digit ratio can predict adult penile size,” the researchers, led by Dr. Tae Beom Kim of Gachon University in Incheon, Korea, wrote.

You seem to be the one person perfectly suited to conduct further research. Like your other arguments the word 'flaccid' comes to mind/

I have been on this forum longer than 80-90% of the current members lol.
I will avoid this thread because I don't personally attack anyone else...

I never brag about anything in my life.
I have no hard feelings towards anyone on here but like I said everyone is entitled to their own opinions and everyone had different upbringings.

I do not get why people hate on me.

He made a comment basically saying go back to school and implied I wasn't smart and didn't do very well educational wise.. So yes I listed some accomplishments. Big deal. I defended myself. I thought it was possible to have normal discussions about the election without people personally attacking and ganging up on everyone but guess not. I'm out enjoy the debates fellows.

You use a lot of 'I' at the start of your sentences :| . Trump does that a lot too.

I'm not sure why we have to constantly step in and tell you guys to place nice; if you aren't getting along and are constantly disagreeing with one another, then stop replying to one another.

@CASINOROYALE, to be fair, you did tell someone to go **** themselves before saying "I don't personally attack anyone." If you all can't discuss opposing views without the personal insults, then please exit the thread. I know things get heated and most of you aren't troublemakers, but you aren't helping things by negating yourself like that.

    Let's play nice, everyone.

To get things back on track, I found this particularly interesting: http://mediamatters.org/research/2016/10/11/gop-civil-war-right-wing-media-lash-out-paul-ryan-and-feckless-republicans-abandoning-trump/213747

What is most notable, for me, is the statement by Rush Limbaugh, which suggests what I have asserted for a long time: Republicans see their purpose as "defeating Democrats." It has nothing to do with bettering people's lives or making decisions that are for the good of the country. It's about "winning."

When one party acts to defeat the other, while the other is acting for the good of the people, we get the mess we're in. This is why McConnell went on record with wanting to make Obama a "one-term President." The Rs wanted to defeat him, at the expense of millions of Americans.

And now it backfires on the Republican Party. The GOP is now seen, much more than the Democrats, as obstructionists. This NBC poll is quite damning (starting at 2min 15sec); it makes this 'civil war' very much visible. NBS asked the following question:

"What should GOP candidates for congress do about Trump?"

    67% --> Continue to support
23% --> No longer support / Call on Trump to drop out
    10% --> Not sure

While 23% doesn't look much, it's quite a large chunk of the entire GOP-electorate. 23%! I don't think those 23% aren't very energized. So Clinton should not necessarily count on that vote. But if the Clinton camp can at least grab 3% to 5% of those 23%, then we're in for a landslide that could be even bigger than Obama's landslide of 365 electoral votes in 2008.

And the GOP? Really....I think we're seeing the birth of a new 3rd party. And not just a small one. A big one.

And Trump? He just said this today:
"It is so nice that the shackles have been taken off me, and I can now fight for America the way I want to,".

    And this:
"Despite winning the second debate in a landslide (every poll), it is hard to do well when Paul Ryan and others give zero support!".

    And:
"Our very weak and ineffective leader, Paul Ryan, had a bad conference call where his members went wild at his disloyalty."

    http://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/trump-declares-war-on-gop-229593

This man is just...nuts, and a flat-out Russian-style liar. The true authoritarian nature of this narcissist is now really showing off. I was scared when I heard him ranting "You [Hillary] should be put in jail!" and "You're full of hate. You're the devil!" during Sunday's debate. That kind of stuff......we hear in dictatorships for God sake. That kind of ranting we hear from Zhirinovsky. That stuff stuff we ought to expect from Putin and it's actually practiced by him for real. We should not hear that from any American candidate for president.

The fact that many people in here -even the articulated @BondJames- still slightly prefer Trump over Hillary is a sign of blind and astonishing denial. The only positive thing I see, is the possible new birth of a more sane 3rd party. And if that happens Trump's xenophobic and hatred base can slowly pushed more to the ultra-right and create their own ultra-right-wing, neo-nationalist party that will never deliver any president in the next 50 years.
