The top 4 is perfect no matter in which order they come.
    Very true.

    Great movie, expected it high.

I predict OHMSS is next, then CR, then FRWL. Only thing that would surprise me is if FRWL is out next - which would better fit my own ranking.

I can tell you one thing though. The points gaps between the Bronze medalist, Silver medalist and Gold medalist are quite big :-).

Starting to think OHMSS might have a shot at #1. Other composite rankings negatively effect OHMSS because there is a contingency of fans who can't warm to Lazenby and end up putting OHMSS in the bottom tier. Not sure if that group of fans is very prevalent on this board, but without those negative results, OHMSS might garner enough to be 1

I'm glad there are big gaps between the movies. I didn't like TLD only missing out spot 5 by 11 points.

My original top 5 prediction was:

    5.) DN
    4.) GF
    3.) FRWL
    2.) OHMSS
    1.) CR

    1 for 2 so far.

And if it was the other way around :-P? SF missing out spot #5 by 11 points :-P?

By 111 points would have been satisfying :P

I'd put my money on CR, though I think the number one slot in a Bond film poll should always be one of te classics.

You could argue Casino Royale is a classic. Or has not enough time passed :-?

our top 3 is made of, one could say, reliable Fleming adaptations...
    do you agree?

Would CR be anyone's number one on here? I think FRWL and OHMSS are likely to be more people's No. 1's while CR is taking the number two or three spot for most people.

It's #1 for me, with FRWL just behind. I have a hard time imagining my top two will change any time soon, either.

Yeah - FRWL is my number one, CR is my number two. But as I've stated many times on this forum before if a non-bond friend says 'show me the best Bond film' I'd put on CR for them. I think structurally it is an expertly told story and emotionally it pays off better than any other Bond film and the start is loaded with suspenseful action sequences. FRWL is my personal top 007 film for many other reasons. But FRWL and CR are easily my favourite Bond films.

CR is my #1, followed by OHMSS, GF, GE, and SF. So I did pretty well with this list.

CR is my #3. I've got two relatively 'big' Bond films (TB &TSWLM), along with two relatively 'lean, stripped back' Bond films (CR & FRWL) in my top 4. So I like both types and styles.

I think OHMSS is next, followed by either FRWL (preferably imho) or CR at the top.

CR immediately made it to No 4 in my ranking behind OHMSS, but for the first time in 10 years I feel it could go down to 6 or 7.

    I don't actually.

While I like CR, the film is nowhere near a faithful adaptation of the novel. The first half of the film is an original storyline and the ending is nothing like the novel's subtle handling of Vesper's final struggle.

Sure the casino and torture scenes are pretty close to the source material, but the film overall is not more Fleming than either of the Dalton films I'd say. Definitely not as faithful as FRWL or OHMSS in any case.

CR is as faithful to Fleming as CR67. The only difference one is a thriller the other one a comedy.

CR wasn't going out of its way to be faithful (I don't know why this is an issue anyway), which it wouldn't have been able to do regardless when the book was written over 50 years before the production began.

I like that CR uses Fleming as inspiration, then spins it into an adventure that is part adaptation, part original with the necessary fixes in between.

I agree. I think they did a great job by bringing CR into the new millenium. Anyway I find that the source material - as great as it is - is probably the most difficult one to use, especially if you want to make a high budget film. Therefore I guess the combination of Casino scenes and actions scenes was done pretty well in CR.

Yeah, agree and also Fleming's best novels (besides MR, imho).

CR was an instant classic and it's a wondeful, modern adaption of the great book and the film definitely belongs and should stay in the Top 5 forever.

As said before: OHMSS at #1 would be too high for me and I hope it ends at either #3 or #2.

Just between those 3 my ranking would be:
    1. FRWL
    2. CR
    3. OHMSS

Very curious how it will look like in the end :-)
