The third act unfolds gradually, and I must say it's my favorite section of the film. The score is amazing, as is the location, and the overall mood and feel. You get the impression they really are out in the middle of nowhere in that desert. I've always liked Kamran Shah's character as well- an underrated ally.
What about SP? I remember it being your No. 1 or 2...

This year's Bondathon, Dr No has entered the untouchable six. So it will be 6 actors in the top 7 films. Not sure yet which film will be 7th, but it's looking like Octopussy

Spectre has been my best cinematic Bond experience since GoldenEye.
In fact I count three films now to have had a huge impact on my Bond fandom.
The Living Daylights - which at age 13 started my life long love for Bond
GoldenEye - the best cinematic experience I had in my twenties, close second is Star Trek First Contact.
Spectre - Bond is back, finally and even with Craig which I never expected. It's GoldenEye redux, it's perfect from the incredible PTS to the best ending a Bond movie ever had (except OHMSS). M is M again and not Bond's mother. Q finally is back (in SF he was an imbecile), now he is practically as good as Desmond. Moneypenny is perfect, secretary with the benefit of having experience in the field.
It's the best of both worlds, old: Blofeld, Spectre and new: Brosnan/Moore action and humour.
I couldn't be happier. I went to see it 13 times at the cinema. And I love the theme song. I loved it from the first listen. Kleinman's titles are simply stunning together with the song.
I could go on, but I guess you get the picture :)
Man I wish I loved it as much as you do. The foster brother thing, slow car chase, score with no personality, no chemistry between Bond and Madeleine Swann (who by the way is very wooden), gaping plot holes, very noticable and bad CGI, and Daniel Craig sleepwalking ruin it for me. To top it all off I think the movie "looks too good" in a way that it feels fake. It's almost as if technology has gotten so far that I never can get into the movie.
You clearly speak about Skyfall, don't you? :P
Spectre may have plot holes, as do all Bond movies, but SP is fun entertainment with humour, so plot holes don't matter. SF made the inexcusable mistake to take itself so seriously that the glaring plot holes practically ruin the movie. Skyfall looks too good, it got the best cinematography of all Bond films. SP looks good too, but it has much more visual character, just look at all the fantastic sets.
Honestly I guess I'm talking about Spectre and Skyfall. I think if I ever managed to make a complete list, they would be near the bottom for me. James Bond in blue suits with a buzz cut. I know Daniel Craig picks his own clothes for the movie, and people are very impressed, but I think his suits in SP and SF are atrocious.
The next Bond should be irreverent, in my opinion.
I actually own Tom Ford suits, yes they are tight fit but I think it looks great.
I love Craig's clothing in the L'Americain sequence, the crater sequence, the PTS and the train especially, also the Rome funeral scene.
I would much rather they go back to another designer for the next film. I'm not happy with his contributions to this storied franchise.
Many, and he makes poor Tibbett carry all of them!
