Are they still making vehicles for the USA, and yes, are they going to release SKYFALL items?

I wrote Hornby, who I guess runs Corgi now. This looks like a form email, but they say 'no plans' for anything related to Skyfall.

Thank you for your e-mail and apologies for the time taken to respond to you.
Although we currently have no plans to release this item, we do keep a record of all customer requests and product suggestions, which we do take into consideration when planning all future ranges

    more from these guys-
"and as of yet there are no plans that we are aware of for the Corgi range, the Scalextric range yes we are producing products regarding the James Bond film, Corgi however have not announced anything as yet."

Maybe they will announce something later in the year then? You'd think being involved with the 50th anniversary would be a big plus for them.

certainly would expect atleast something apart from the easy to produce scalextric sets! Only thing different is the packaging and models! So not that impressive if thats all we get?

I want to know what happened to the new range of figures from a couple of years ago? They included CR and QOS figures, Charactor busts, and charators from the past? So its not as though they have not got anything to offer us as they were displayed at a major European toyfair!

Come on Corgi?!!! DO SOMETHING!!!!!!! ~X(

This is what is annoying about Corgi! They boast about their long relationship with Bond! Yet? Are doing nothing for the 50th anniversary! Disgraceful! Take the licence off them and give to someone else!

What Corgi will do is re-release all their old 1/36 models in new packaging, together with one or two new models from Skyfall. They have been doing the same thing for years now.

What is showing on their website is a clearance of models in the old-style packaging. The whole lot will be re-released in new boxes closer to the release date of the film, to take advantage of the momentum. The cars in Skyfall may also be hush-hush for the time being, meaning that Corgi can't release any details of them.

By the way, Corgi's American line seems to be on hold for the moment; they have not released any American trucks and buses for a few years now.

Corgi should release all the cars that were in the Bond movies including Skyfall cars but we don't what his actually car is. But don't count on Minichamps they delay. By time the relese the Skyfall cars it be the release of the Skyfall DVD.

Your probably right their. However? Atleast the film DVD's are released alot quicker these days. Before it nearly used to be a year before the films were available to buy!

I think the first Skyfall models to see the light of day will be by Ixo or Universal Hobbies as part of the James Bond Car Collection partwork.

Well fairplay to them i say. I know we are getting some poor models lately, but thats certainly more than Corgi are doing?

I remember the day I would try and hunt down Corgi models and get them at the best possible price. For the last 10 years I have not bothered with Corgi as they are just being lazy with the repackage thing.
It was a challenge to get hold of some of my models and I am still looking for others. It is sad that Corgi do not want to take part in the 50th Anni year. And if they are, in the past I remember someone saying that the cars were going to have working lights and somehow the film song title could be played. Who knows, in this day and age anything is possible !

There were plans to do a range of 'lights and sounds' models, but these were cancelled when Corgi was sold off to Hornby. There were a whole bunch of these planned, including buses with internal lights and working engine sounds and bells, steam fairground engines with lights and carnival music... In the end only one truck was produced, which had working lights and engine sounds. At the time, Corgi was being controlled by an American company called Master Replicas which overextended themselves financially. They basically strip-mined Corgi of its character licenses and sold off the diecast business to Hornby.

Personally, I wouldn't get too excited over Corgi's plans for Skyfall. I'm sure they will release a new model or two , but they will be of fairly dubious quality and more like toys than scale models.

It's the same model they made for Casino Royale, with the opening doors, but the steering wheel at the other side.

Another thing I just noticed is they will probably leave "craig" in his tux as the driver, wich is totally incorrect. The whole 50th anniversary is starting to be a bit dissapointing as far as marketing goes...

Is there post on The Skyfall Remote Control Car. I saw in the official Aston Martin Web. When i saw DB5 Remote Control section it turn out to be James Bond Skyfall Aston Martin DB5 Toy state. I don't whether I'll get here in Australia?

So ... I just looked at the Corgi website today and found the Skyfall car.
Does anyone have it? Is it as good a quality as previous Bond cars? I could not find any other Bond cars listed. Just curious. I have never collected them, but I was thinking about this and thought I'd check up on it.

I am afraid Corgi have lost alot of appreciation on here on their next to nothing efforts on Bonds 50th anniversary. Considering the long relationship they had with the series. Not got the item you have mentioned but i think they may well be a member or too that have?

I bought it for....some unknown reason. Exactly the same as the Casino Royale reissue except..the license plate says BMT216. Corgi is worthless.

It is sad to read of the decline of their quality and care about 007. :o3 (I only wish this emoticon was a picture of a Corgi dog ...)

It certainly is! A few years ago i think it was at a German toy fair? They were previewing a new range they were planning which was before QOS had been released! Lookied really promising but sadly never materialised! :-q
  • You would think that Corgi should sit least include Lady M with Bond in the car with the full gadgets as shown in the movie. But no! Nothing whatsoever except for the Skyfall packaging.
