For me, I feel like all of the films in my top eleven, the elite eleven if you will, deserve to be in the top ten. Such is the nature of a ranking though, I guess. To me, there is then a slight drop to an outstanding LALD followed by another drop into the next group of films which I would characterize as being really good.
The competition just gets very steep as I move towards the top 10 and those two just don't quite make it in. They are both close though, especially SF.

My top ten's largely the same, and I apparently couldn't get out of ranking #21 - #23 low again, haha.
No details, as requested by the OP, though I'd be happy to elaborate on any of my placements.
Dalton's two just don't do him justice, IMO, even for the direction he was trying to take Bond. LTK for me is just a mess. I admit Sanchez was a good villain but I found the Bond girls and their love triangle thing to be deplorable. Wayne Newton's character could have been left out in my opinion and there were a few other things that were randomly tossed in (the ninjas and winking fish come to mind). Another thing — there's far too little colour in the environment. Certainly no real local colour considering it's set in a made-up place. That's something I took points off LALD for as well, though at least LALD establishes the Carribean and voodoo-like setting of San Moniqe. Isthmus City is just colourless IMO. In fact, the Hemmingway House bit is the most colourful part to memory, and it only appears briefly. All of the other locations are overly dark and dreary. Dalton's acting was fine but he just seemed pissed at everything here. It does feel a bit like Miami Vice with a few Bond elements like the gadgets splashed in. But everything from Q's extended role to the excess gore just felt like it was overcompensating.
TLD fared better, if only because it stayed a bit truer to the established 007 formula. Good score and good theme song, but few Bond movies suffer more from consistency issues (ie. strange dichotomy between Moore-like scenes which Dalton can't sell and darker ones which are more appropriate for him). Again, it's a bit too dull, but at least there's more colour and set life. There's something about the mid-Afghanistan sequences which just bores me. I did like the plane fight, though. Didn't find Kara very appealing and the villains were incredibly weak and bland. The arms-drugs trade thing was poorly fleshed-out for me, which made the villains all the more forgettable. And that horrible final fight between Bond and Whitaker doesn't help either.

I do change my mind about these films a lot though, apart from my top 5-10. And my actor ranking would probably be
1) Dalton
2) Brosnan
3) Connery/Moore
4) Craig
5) Lazenby
But I always find ranking the actors hard (except Dalton as no 1, that's just common sense ;) ) because they all did a brilliant job at playing their own version of the character.

RE: Dalton - I have LTK in my top 10 (10 of 10) purely because of the strength of the Dalton/Davi dynamic and because I really like the way Bond plays Sanchez and lets him slowly begin to doubt his inner circle. It truly is first class revenge. Having said that, I understand where you're coming from regarding the look and feel of the film. There's little of the classic glamour and style despite the casino sequence (which seems out of place really). It really pops on blu ray though (much more so than on earlier copies I've seen). TLD has always been a mixed bag for me, and I used to look at the film far more favourably in the past than I do now. I completely agree on your assessment of it.
Fair enough. The last act is considerably weaker, which is the major letdown for me. But I do enjoy it a lot otherwise, and I find it to hit the mark perfectly between that sheer magnitude of its atmosphere and the grounded, spy-like feel of the early films.
I'm also getting more partial to Lazenby and On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which I suppose isn't a bad thing considering I'm Australian. :)
YOLT barely snuck into the top ten for me anyway, and that may just be because TB didn't have the amazing set work that it did (otherwise TB is a better film).
Yeah, as I said, I agree Sanchez is a good villain. The problem is that I can't enjoy him as much because the overall dullness of the film seriously detracts from it.
TLD is a really a mixed bag, yeah. I mean, I do want to at least rank Dalton's movies higher in my "objective" list, but I just find it difficult to move them out of the bottom half. LTK in particular.
