Saving private ryan is still the best war film I've ever seen.
Wouldn't consider Ing. Bast. a war movie. There's not really any battle scenes. Oh God, I WISH Tarantino did a battle scene, but it didn't happen.
But yes, SPR is probably one of the best films I've ever scene.
I just thought it was ridicously stupid, though i did enjoy some parts.
Now, this isn't the most recent film i've viewed, but I finally got a chance to watch the first 'The Godfather' not long back, and i was pretty hyped for it, as i'd heard nothing but greatness from it, and with it being second greatest film on IMDB, but i honestly didn't enjoy it. I just found it dull and boring and I couldn't find amongst all of the 'family' business what was supposed to be great about it... Three hours was far too long in my opinion, the only good scene i thought in the whole movie was the 'cafe' scene. It may just be me, but I thought it was pretty bad.
I always found the godfather a bit boring too. Scarface is my favourite crime film.
I was really sad there were no big battle scenes. I read that it was "tarantino's stab at the war movie" so I instantly thought it was awesome. But I was really let down. I kind of pictured brad pitt and the others charging across france brutally killing nazis, tarantino style. I felt kind of let down on the battle side of things.

I saw it on it's original release back in 1995 and never found it that much of a big deal, yes it has some genuine nasty moments but some people make out like it's the granddaddy of horror movies or such and that simply isn't the case. We don't get to see the actual murders only bits of the aftermath and half the time the screen was so dark it was hard to make out even what was going on, constant rain coming down too but that was all intended to give it a more uncomfortable feel. I like movies like these where there's no happy ending and nobody walks off set with a feel good factor and it made a nice change, also the end credits went in reverse which was a nice difference. Kevin Spacey did a good job and both Freeman and Pitt gave very good performances but I feel it's overrated by some, but still a fine piece of film
Brilliant! Best 5 Westerns-ish of all TIME!
I thought it was great. Easy to look past the acting, and get the message. Went with my parents and sister, and my dad has been deployed to Afghanistan twice. Lets just say it had a very strong impact on all of us.

George Scott was too old and a little fat, a lot more than in his previous performance.
It's not a war film, but as a drama it's not that bad... only a little slow and simple.

I don't think I've ever been such a live witness to a constant end of profanities. The Nicky Santoro character would probably last about six seconds on MI6 with regards to it's 'no swearing' policy

It's merely Goodfellas in the desert
If you watch Pesci in it, as with both releases, he's obviously a very threatening loud mouthed little man here, and also the Lethal Weapons were still going on at the exact same time and you watch him as Leo Getz, you ask yourself time and again -'Is this really the same actor' on screen. He does give powerhouse performances sometimes
Last movie I watched, well most of it was The Million Pound Note with Gregory Peck some days ago, it's a very good first half but just sinks into a boring heap towards the second half, still worth a watch though

It's not out in the UK yet, but I can't wait to see this. I was in the army myself for a while so I'm excited about the idea of soldiers playing soldiers.
Your dad definetly has my respect. Takes alot of bravery.
The guard. Basically an irish policeman (a garda) teams up with an american FBI agent to take down some drug dealers. Great film, it's funny, but is also dark and violent at times, the ending is really good.
Early Pink Panther (which means the humour works) and Elke Sommer, you can't go wrong.
A shot in the dark is a classic.
I much prefer to watch Thatcher in FYEO!
I feel ashamed to say that I enjoyed The Iron Lady... not a fantastic film, but quite enjoyable.
Come on sport! You like entertaining Bond movies like MR and TMWTGG! How could you enjoy The Iron Lady?
