An espionage driven plot would excite me very much. If there's anything that's been lacking from the Craig era, it's definitely the "spy" factor. I'd like to see Craig moving along the shadows in a dark outfit with a silenced Walther PPK.

The way he looks recently why not switch off the light completely?

Almost all of Danny Boyle's films are under 2hrs, so we can assume he won't make a 145 minute epic like 3 out of the 4 last films have been. That's a plus in my book, as I'm really looking for something more succinct and rewatch value.
I was kind of hoping for a big, 145 minute epic if I'm being honest.

I think Bond 25 will be reasonably stand alone, a straight forward character driven film to send off Craig's Bond. Perhaps also with a patriotic air.

I think I'd be let down if the runtime is less than what we've been accustomed to. I want a nice, long send off for Craig.

I don't think that's what we will be getting. Boyle's longest film is 122 minutes.

I think so. If I were to guess, I think it will also be action 'lite' given the compressed shooting schedule these films are known for, because this is Boyle's first kick at the can, & because they won't want another debilitating injury of the kind that has afflicted The Rhythm Section and which affected SP.

I wonder if this will be the 'set-up' for the next actor as well, similar to how DAF set up the Rog era? I can't imagine, based on the evidence to date, that EON thinks that far ahead, but I'd like to hope so.

Danny Boyle. Another one of those super-famous arty drama directors.
But I wasn´t expecting anything else...

Is it fair to say that Layer Cake had a bit of Boyle in it in terms of style? Or am I looking for styles/connections that aren't there.

ok , just so I’m clear: you have a following? Over the years you have collected a following of readers? And these followers understand your process of thinking/re-assessment?... Hmm

That is very cool! No jokes on my part. Seriously, I get it.

Every once in a while you get on a rant about something someone wrote and you see for whatever reason as offensive . Has it ever occurred to you, that it might be you who is getting things wrong? Maybe you're just not very good in perceiving meanings?
Worst of all, when proven wrong you don't apologize, but simply stay quiet for a while and then come back and just don't mention it.

I believe someone told you that you must have a perfect view of a part of your body, and I must agree-- an incredible talent you have there.

    Best,

OMG, you're right! In a way, it's fortuitous. Remember how DAF introduced the overtly comic elements of Moore, but still had that edge which was customary of Connery's run? And remember how DAD gave us a glimpse of the introspection of Craig in the opening scenes, but still supplied us with barrel fulls of OTT action that was what we expected from Brosnan? Well, if Boyle is an arty director in the mould of the Craig era, but with a 'kinetic' and playful energy, that might give us the first hint of where things go next...

Or alternatively it's possible that B25 sets up Craig's career post-Bond, by bringing him back full circle to his pre-Bond 'Indie' days, which culminated with Layer Cake.

Too bad he's not returning for the TV sequel, Viva La Madness. Jason Statham is currently attached.

Very happy to hear about the news. Was worried for many months the director might have been Yawn DeBoring. Now we can look forward to a fresh Bond film with a new writer.

Hopefully he gets Pemberton in for score, he'd do bloody well.

I'm broadly pretty happy as it means are getting a fresh injection of both writing blood and directorial blood. Boyle and Hodge are a great and creative team and at least the film won't be boring.
If nothing else, the removal of P&W as scriptwriters on B25 should be a cause for celebration. And I concur, the "fresh injection" will hopefully result in something less pedestrian than the P&W story lines we've been getting down the years.
I'm not sure of Hodge and Boyle's Bondian credentials and knowledge of the character so I have slight reservations that this golden idea might be something weird like brothergate that will have us aghast.
Having watched the Danny Boyle radio interview posted recently here quite a few pages back when this rumour first broke, I can say that — when asked about his knowledge of Fleming novels — Mr Boyle came across as very passionate. He also confessed to having been a huge fan; having read every single one of them as a young man. Which is kind of ironic as Boyle's been labelled as a staunch socialist, therefore one would have thought Mr le Carré more to his liking. Quelle surprise, it seems not. Boyle was and IS a huge literary Bond fan. One can only hope that his enthusiasm and knowledge of the Fleming classics translates itself to the big screen. Having said that, I know nothing of John Hodge's expertise on Fleming. Come to think of it, I recall P&W used to boast of their superior knowledge of Fleming and Bond, but fat lot of good it did them.

Assuming the new script is chosen, I wonder if we will ever get a chance to see the old P&W script sometime down the road. I’d love to just to satisfy my curiosity.

Your time might be better spent seeing Boyle's genre movies, which will give you a good idea of how skilled he is at ratcheting up suspense. SHALLOW GRAVE (written by Hodge), 28 DAYS LATER, and (especially) SUNSHINE are all tense, nail-biting thrillers.
