I didn't turn it off, but it was rather boring for me, as well.

Now, I'll be trying Trance. See if that one can get me excited enough.

I find it very hard to believe that Danny Boyle would even go near a film featuring an arrogant white English hero.....

Craig's version isn't that, though. He's far removed from that.

All have me excited about this decision (if true).

Those are all great films. Not a zombie movie fan, but loved 28 Days.

I´m more excited than not about Boyle as director for Bond 25, but recent years have made me also wary. I wouldn´t be surprised at all if neither Boyle nor Hodge have seen any of the recent Bond films and ride in enthusiastically with the idea of an ageing Bond who has a secret stepbrother and so on.
On the other hand, they must have pitched at least a basic idea to Eon, so I guess it´s going to be allright. My biggest problem with Mendes was Mendes, not the script. I just don´t tune to his style. I enjoyed pretty much every Boyle film I´ve seen so far, so consider me an investor.

Danny Boyle is too leftist to direct James Bond.
He stuffs every film he´s doing with boring political messages, even his Olympics opening ceremony.

Interesting comments from Boyle regarding his love for Ian Fleming back in 2013 (ignore his comments that he'd make a bad Bond film):
    http://www.geekadelphia.com/2013/04/16/talking-trance-with-danny-boyle-interview/

QUESTION:So after working with Daniel Craig on the intro to the Olympics would you be interested in possibly doing a Bond film in the future?

BOYLE: It sort of interesting, because we feel like we have done one, it’s very short obviously but it’s an amazing cast. I love the Bond movies, and the books were part of my growing up, it’s very difficult to convey to you how important they were to me. I read them all multiple times. When you are 14 alone in your bedroom and your glimpsing a world that isn’t your Catholic upbringing hasn’t prepared you for. I don’t think I would make a good job of a Bond movie and I wouldn’t want to spoil my relationship with it like that. I am happy to remain a consumer after having a little taste.

These pics on this thread of P & W are pretty funny whereas every pic I've seen of Richard Maibaum, he looks immensely cool, and suave. Maibaum looked like he could have been hard-boiled noir character in a Raymond Chandler novel.

Looking forward to this change with Boyle and Hodge. I must say, I am all for a lower key Bond adventure. A tight and gripping thriller for Craig's last go.

That's what I think too. Early May.
What are the odds of the films being delayed
Low chance at present imho. I think they plan to hit that previously announced release date as of now.

Craig's Bond isn't arrogant, white and English...?

Pray tell me what your version constitutes...

Just curious why May seems to be the date that official news will be announced?

That's not what I meant, but he's not the "arrogant white English" character. Rather just a British agent who happens to be white (as expected), but possesses neither of the arrogance, prejudice and snobbery of the original Bond.

Just an educated guess on my part. Craig has a film (Kings) coming out at the end of April and may do promotion for it. May gives a few months for this new script to be finalized and vetted. Additionally, I'm assuming they will want to move to the next stage by June.

We may get something earlier on an MGM conference call but it may only involve announcing the domestic and foreign distributor.

    Again, all guesswork.

Amazing news! P & W are FINALLY out! Also: TOLD YOU! I knew Danny Boyle directing a musical in the summer does not mean he is OUT!

Danny Boyle? Uninpired choice? What are you smoking? This should be very exciting not only for any Bond fan, but also fans of movies in general, as Boyle is an accomplished director who has never directed a movie on this scale before.

I'm broadly pretty happy as it means are getting a fresh injection of both writing blood and directorial blood. Boyle and Hodge are a great and creative team and at least the film won't be boring.
If nothing else, the removal of P&W as scriptwriters on B25 should be a cause for celebration. And I concur, the "fresh injection" will hopefully result in something less pedestrian than the P&W story lines we've been getting down the years.
I'm not sure of Hodge and Boyle's Bondian credentials and knowledge of the character so I have slight reservations that this golden idea might be something weird like brothergate that will have us aghast.
Having watched the Danny Boyle radio interview posted recently here quite a few pages back when this rumour first broke, I can say that — when asked about his knowledge of Fleming novels — Mr Boyle came across as very passionate. He also confessed to having been a huge fan; having read every single one of them as a young man. Which is kind of ironic as Boyle's been labelled as a staunch socialist, therefore one would have thought Mr le Carré more to his liking. Quelle surprise, it seems not. Boyle was and IS a huge literary Bond fan. One can only hope that his enthusiasm and knowledge of the Fleming classics translates itself to the big screen. Having said that, I know nothing of John Hodge's expertise on Fleming. Come to think of it, I recall P&W used to boast of their superior knowledge of Fleming and Bond, but fat lot of good it did them.

Interesting that Boyle has read all the novels. Never would have guessed it! It’s all shaping up quite nicely. Have to say that I’m much more excited by Boyle than I ever was by Mendes, who I had major doubts about from the start.

I am reasonably confident that at the very least he will not screw it up. I can’t think of a truly bad Boyle film - even when not 100% successful his films are well made and usually (BIG difference from Mendes) have a coherent and compelling story at their heart. I feel with Boyle he’s the kind of director who really starts with the story which for me is really important. Looking forward to some tight, twisty, plotting.

I guess the big question will be what tone is it going to be? Big and brash? Small and intimate? Boyle can do either very well. Maybe we will get a bit of both.

He’s such an eclectic director it’s almost impossible to predict what direction he will take. He doesn’t seem to repeat himself or work with the same actors. He doesn’t have a go to composer either which leaves things wide open.

I think we can all breath easy that we’ve seen the last of Thomas ‘recycle’ Newman. And what a relief to wave goodbye to P+W, possibly the stalest writing duo of all time.

Are you sure that's them? Looks like a piss poor P&W tribute act (Christ alone knows who would book them).

Either that or John Bishop with full blown Aids and Sloth out of the Goonies .

Never denied Boyle's talent, but merely stated that he is a very disappointing and ill-fitted choice for Bond.

After being teased with Nolan and Villeneuve, I tend to agree, but give the man a chance.

Actually he does have a few recurring actors. Ewan Mcgregor, Christopher Eccleston, Cillian Murphy and Robert Carlyle amongst them. The latter is obviously a no go and I wouldn’t be keen to see complacent McGregor in Bond but the other two might be interesting. Although Nolan would be annoyed if Boyle uses Murphy. Wonder if Kelly McDonald still has what it takes.

He is certainly less fitting than Campbell, Mendes and ever Forster were, but I have always wanted to see what an "ill-fitting" but very talented director would do with Bond. Also, I strongly believe that the time to experiment is now, right before the reboot.
