I would say : nothing special at all.

No other Bond had a special send off,and Connery and Moore both knew that DAF & AVTAK were their last films.

Agreed, the Craig era is no different. Shouldn't be anything special or different.
They seem to be going out of their way to make it different unfortunately. I agree, just put him in a shower or on a boat with some babe with the Bond theme in the background and let's be done with it.

(This scene would be particularly interesting because none of the present characters, including M, Moneypenny or Tanner, have any idea about why Bond would find himself at a cemetery. His secret commitment will only be known to the viewer, who will find out the truth as the camera rests on the full body image of Bond near a grave, the camera disguising the front of the stone as he looks down on it with a look of serene comfort and respect.)

[The shot pauses on Bond for a moment, then he suddenly gets down on one knee and brings his hand in to grasp the stone lovingly. The camera then shifts to show a perspective over his shoulder, as we read the name "Vesper Lynd" and the date of her birth and death. In this moment it would become clear that, no matter how much time has passed, Bond has never forgotten his ultimate mission to get the woman he loved justice. A short but emotional bit of David Arnold's Vesper theme plays. Bond gazes down at the name and what it represents to him and, with great earnestness and relief, says...]

Bond: "I got them." (in reference to his neutralization of Quantum and SPECTRE)

    WOW Brady, WOW!!! :O

Bookending the DC era by having him visit Vesper's grave is a good idea. The metaphor is that Vesper is burried (so is that plot line) and we can move on (with a new Bond) and obviously there will be comparisons to FYEO.

Not so sure about Bond breaking up with Swann. Has Bond ever broken up like that before? Could be a bit "Mills and Boon"?

You Know My Name for end credits is a great idea. I would like to see a way of getting the lyrics onto the screen or a refernce to the lyrics within his last scene as the lyrics really do work when discussing Bonds character

I'd honestly rather see him visit the grave of Strawberry Fields.

12 years later? He was in a "serious" relationship with Vesper for a few weeks maybe?

The point was to base that kind of ending off how Fleming wrote his Bond, who visits Vesper's grave yearly as opposed to this Bond only visiting it for this imagined ending. And if Fleming's Bond felt so compelled to make annual visits to the gravesite despite having what I find to be a poorly written romance with Vesper in the book, then the stronger one that the film Bond shared with the woman is satisfactory enough for me to motivate such a scene. One of the biggest improvements I've seen from a novel to a film adaptation of any kind is how much CR was improved and given more substance or impact in regards to the love angle of the story as well as in other ways.

Even if people remember who Vesper is, it's not going to feel relevant anymore. Also given that the last time we saw Bond he was riding off with Madders, we can assume he was in a relationship with her for at least as long as Vesper.

I don't see why there needs to be any grand ending. End the film like a Bond film, by having Bond in bed with the Bond girl, and cut to the credits. They already painted themselves into a corner with the SP ending, if they manage to get out, there is no need to paint themselves into yet another corner. Leave it open ended, that way they can either continue in the present timeline, or return to the original 1962-2002 timeline.

The ending could still be open and final. I do think the ending will be removed from tradition, simply because the era will end on terms that haven't really been there before. Outside of DAF that wasn't going to do anything crazy when the last attempt to do so (OHMSS) didn't light the box office on fire to the level of past films, we've never gone into a Bond film before knowing it will be an actor's last. So that almost makes it inevitable to assume that at some point the film will address Bond's future and end with some form of conclusiveness.

Because that has very much been the way the Craig era has progressed, going farther in that way than you'd expect Bond films to go and putting a twist on things. I would be very surprised if there isn't some attempt at the end of Bond 25 to tie off this story of Craig Bond's life for the next guy to start it fresh as an established Bond with a focus away from continuity and more emphatically on standalones. Because I think that's needed. That's not to say that the ending of Bond 25 has to be crazy and super final, but I think it will end in a way that feels truly final and very much the end of this Bond's journey.

Bond in bed with a girl to end the film? Hmm, ordinarily this trope is tired but seeing as Craig hasn't ended a Bond movie this way, I'm all for it.

That would be interesting to see them finally go back to that. It may even be appropriate seeing as it would count as a full circle ending for Craig’s Bond. Without P&W, which would have made it a near certainty, it will be interesting to see how finaleish the last scenes with Craig are.

    Craig shouldn´t get a "special" send-off.
There were enough special and different elements during his tenure.
But I´m sure they will come up with something pseudo-melodramatic, since that
has been the signature of Craig´s movies ever since Mendes took over.

I'll take that or even a cheesy shot of Craig winking at the camera over the gunbarrel placed at the end.

An LTK nod would be too cool, no matter what it was. Craig winking at the camera would most certainly make me laugh, but probably would be quite awkward. Also yes no more gunbarrels at the end.

Couldn't agree more here, that's exactly how I feel. Make it "unique" in that it'll finally be a film that ends with Craig's Bond in bed with the girl. Simple. Made for a proper sendoff with most of the other actors.

Lazenby was the exception, but it’d be kind of nice if it remained that way I think since he also only had one film.

Ending "in bed" with the Bond Girl is kind of an overstatement. Like the Bond villain pursuing world domination, that actually happens pretty infrequently across the franchise.

With Craig Bond, him just getting the Bond Girl at mission's end is cause for celebration--so far he's one-for-four. But that's part and parcel to the reboot itself, reestablishing the character using Casino Royale and building the same old Bond film formula over time. On that idea, I take the point it could be Craig's last chance for the event.

However it plays out, I'm looking forward to it. Careful with the obligatory one-liner, though.

It should end with him taking care of his business in the bathroom. When all of a sudden a bloke comes out of nowhere and starts beating on him. Smashes his head against the sink and shoots him dead. We see the grim fate of a 00. After all they have a short life expectancy. It ends the same way it began. It's like poetry, it rhymes.

Alternatively, we flash forward to an aged Bond committing to his boring desk job in a foreign country when a chap comes and shoots him dead for selling state secrets. The End. Full circle.

This is a great idea for a thread.

I've had a few thoughts about this over the last few months.

Personally, I want Craig's tenure to end in a distinct way which finishes off his set of films. Therefore, the producers would have the choice of interpreting the ending as a farewell to DC or a chance to totally reboot down the line.

The suggestion of Bond at Buckingham palace meeting with M or drinking with a tramp isn't bad. I didn't hate it as much as I anticipated. Personally, the dialogue suggested is a little "on the nose".

For me, I think Craig's Bond will "die". I'd actually be rather gutted if he doesn't. I've seen Bond get out of scrape after scrape. I want to see him bite the bullet. I want an emotionally charged ending where Daniel gives it everything he's got and dies on screen.

I reckon Bond should get shot and badly wounded. Despite being injured, he is still able to take down the villain. Then he walks out into the sun outside the villain's HQ and realises that he can't survive. So he falls to the ground and lights a cigarette and has a brief moment to himself before "dying".

I feel a moment like this would still allow Bond a heroic exit and give enough room for another filmmaker to say "he didn't really die" or allow another director to reboot. Just don't show him close his eyes. We all saw Layer Cake....

I want Craig to channel the same energy he has in these two photos:

Does anyone else recall the rumour going around the Spectre thread on these boards in the run-up to the movie's release regarding it being a definitive ending for Craig?

The board member who stated it had an inside source and said that given how Spectre ends it would be very difficult to see how to bring back Craig for a 5th outing.

Does anyone else remember this? What came of that? I'm interested to find out what they were referring to. Perhaps they shot an alternate ending, an idea they can perhaps revisit for B25?

Or perhaps it was all nonsense.
