They were ,as was LTK,very aware of the American market and it does show....very weak thinking.

So is the opening of DAF, when Bond throws the man through a paper wall, suppose to be Japan? We're they trying to imply OHMSS never happened by showing Bond still in Japan on the look for where Blofeld got to after his monorail escape?

Ok ready to become Blofelds clone? Get in this mud bath, oh and keep this gun on you in case someone comes in to you know... Whatever! I'm sure it'll still work after being in the mud

In new entries, I really miss the scenes of Bond and M meeting with a contact for plot exposition. Whether it DAF diamond smuggling, GF gold bullion, OP fabrege eggs. We haven't really had it in a while.

DAF score is so wonderful. The lounge piano version of the theme song is great

All three you mention are excellent scenes and they all not only inform the narrative but taught me something I didn't know before upon first viewing. It's good to see Bond demonstrating his knowledge and expertise as well (particularly the asides about brandy and sherry in GF & DAF respectively).

Too right you are @bondjames ! The dialogue is just so fun and informative. And the back and forth M and Bond give each other is so great, Bernie and Sean had such good chemistry. Same with Rog in LALD when M visits his flat.

So interesting how as a kid the 90s and early 00s cgi didn't phase me @Birdleson . I didn't think the Jinx dive or glacier surfing looked bad at all. By 2006-07, only a few years later I thought how could I have never noticed!

Apart from that I do enjoy all the Cuba bits though

His best “Bond, James Bond” I thought was either to Elektra in TWINE or Carver in TND.

For the heck of it - my favorite “Bond, James Bond” uses would be:

-DN (the very first - and still the best)
-GF (to Jill; pretty cool stuff here)
-LALD (to Solitaire; Moore’s first was maybe his best here)
-FYEO (to Melina; just love how Moore does that one)
-CR (to White; this is second to Connery in DN IMO)
-SF (to Severine; totally simple but perfectly done)

Soooo many extras watching the car chase in DAF. But I dont find it distracting. If I was a tourist in Vegas and there was a high speed police chase going by me, I'd sure watch!

    Mine is:

    1. DN
    2/3. LALD/CR
    4. GF
    5. SF
    6. DAD
    7. TLD

Didn’t care for TLD’s much, but the others are pretty good choices. Same Top 3.

I unfortunately believe Norman Burton is the second weakest Leiter next to John Terry

I enjoy RVN though I can't put my finger on why. I enjoy the scenes where they fly across the Bahamas in the chopper and he's got his tropical shirt and red hat on. My wife and I always get a kick out of his outfit.

People give a lot of flack to the closing line of TWINE: Christmas only comes once a year

However today I rewatched TMWTGG and I noticed for the first time: “She’s just coming” or something to that effect as one of the last lines.

Why does it work well in TMWTGG but not so much in TWINE

    Especially his magic pants.

Because the one in TMWTGG is clever, dumb as it is.

The one in TWINE is just dumb and cringeworthy.

This really is visually a beautiful film......why change the beautiful Shanghai scenes for what we see in SP...i can understand it in Mexico being filtered like that but who the hell decided the whole film should be like it.

I love the Shanghai fight in darkness,a lot of people dont but it is vicious....the way Bond looks over at Severine and suddenly he is gone in her eyes is classic Bond.
