Would you forgo the Brosnan Era to add to the Dalton era?

Was it true that John Glen had a thing with pigeons and birds and such, they usually had a scene in his Bonds I always noticed
  • I would never forgo the Brosnan era because it holds great nostalgia for me and brought me into Bond. However, I would shave off the end of the Moore Era to make room for Dalton. It's a travesty Dalton didn't make four or five films. I would have ended Moore's tenure with OP, his best film in my opinion. Then Dalton comes in for films in 85, 87, 89, 91, 93 with Brosnan following in 95.

No, the Brosnan era is good. The most that does it feels good is Brosnan. The storys and some of the girls ( Yeaoh, Richards ) isn't something to hang in the tree ( ;)) ) but Brosnan i think really delivers! From the first scene in Goldeneye when he meets up with Trevelyan to DAD i think he made a great job. Such a shame his last film was DAD..

Brosnan was the perfect successor to Moore and should IMO have been Bond from 1987 to 2008. I really like DAD, though. And I really like your favorite Brosnan movie, TND.

Yeah Brosnan did combine every element just fine, he had style, he had the thoughness, the humour, and the special charisma that it takes to play Bond. Add to the point that he actually could get emotinal and play the role with some ground to.

I agree, he could to anything. And his movies ranged from good to great. So why is he so hated here? Only Moore is better IMO.

Well i'm sure Brosnan would have to stay atleast for one more movie if it wasn't for the reboot.

Which was great because it did get us the two best Bond movies in the franchise!

With the possible exception of TND, the Brosnan films are utterly atrocious - a dark stain on the Bond legacy. Although I would have liked to see Dalton return in 1995, I think GE was a fundamentally bad movie - bad direction, cast, production design and music. Perhaps even Dalts could not have redeemed it. TND is a far superior entry and the 'high point' of the Brosnan era. I think Dalton is perhaps a bit of a depressive as he is quoted as saying that he thought LTK would be the last film in the series. He was almost right. Any way, if he'd been a bit more positive and hung on in there, perhaps we'd have had a couple more decent entries.

Since you and I are friends, I´m not gonna comment on the last statement.:)
Perhaps you remember what I think of CR?

And I think Brosnan would have done a fifth, and then quit. That could have happened while we at the same time could get the reboot. EON should have been a movie, released in 2004.

Haha, i certainly remember your thoughts of CR, which stills shocks me.

I would loved to see a fifth Brosnan movie that would be instead of Everything or Nothing, and then Craig comes into the franchise for Casino Royale as normal.

That would have been great for most people, wouldn´t it?

And about CR, I like Craig and some parts. But I have some major issues with it. I won´t repeate them, cause that might cause an earthquake here. ;)

I think many people could not have taken another Brozza film. Plus, he looked completely over the hill by the time DUD rolled into town.

No offense, but that is utterly preposterous. DAD especially is a Bond film of the highest level.

Please don't upset me at this time of the day
    ;)

I can compare Brosnans look in DAD as Moores look in FYEO. Quite masculine and had some authority i think. A great Bond look!

Brosnan looks great in DAD. He look about 45, which is a good age for Bond. Moore in his last movies looked much older.

Yes Brosnan was in great shape, in better shape then he was in GE imo.

Moore in AVTAK did scared me as a child. And he still does :-(

Look at the scene when he first meets Moneypenny and says "The trip back from Siberia took alot out of me". He is starring like a creep or a psycho or something.

My sister once came into my room when I watched that. She was like "What? Bond is about to sleep with a man!.

Moore said that he needed several years of mental help after that. He just wants to forget it.

  • Yes to the question. I would've loved to see Dalton return for GE. I'm sure he would've been an improvement over the woody "Mr. huge responsabilty on my shoulders" Brosnan. This would have been right up there with TLD, which both share a very similar PTS.
Since he never had a good physical action scene, (a travesty from the producers.) TND would have shown us the tough Tim. I can imagine him saying in his deep voice, "It wouldn't look like a suicide if you shoot me from overthere".
In TWINE he would've shown us his more sensitive and romantic side which we saw in certain scenes of TLD, only to kick Renard's arse in the end. This story required a bit more acting from Bond , but with Dalton's comfort in the role, I'm sure he would've nailed it, plus it would have reunited him with Robbie Coltrane.
DAD I would leave to Brosnan, since he was soo good in it. It feels like a stand alone movie anyway, so this would 've been his OHMSS, not to say that they're in the same category.
  • As much as I love Dalton's portrayal more than Brosnan's, I wouldn't pass up the latter's era as he reinvigorated the general public's interest in the series. One thing I would do though is give Dalton one last flick for release in Autumn 1991, provided the screenplay is based on the book "Colonel Sun" and not the original script featuring robots. This way, Dalton would get another film and there would still be a long enough wait for the next film to make the general public wish for a new Bond film.
