Just check it out the figures at boxofficemojo.com for clarification, peeps... :)
Yup, on its own, the North American market is by far and a way the biggest for Bond, but the disparity between the 'international' and 'domestic' markets for Bond film box-office is far bigger than for most Hollywood blockbusters. Like I said, check out the totals for recent years' blockbuster hits at boxofficemojo; it's interesting reading.
For instance, The Dark Knight's box-office breakdown was very much the other way round, the domestic haul easily outweighed the international one (although both, comparatively speaking, were massive of course)...
How do you know it isnt going to be super serious? You wont know until you see it. Its not going to be another smart ass cgi fest - Craig doesn't do those.
You enjoy it on his terms or not at all.
So he didn't do Cowboys & Aliens then ?
Not in the international markets!!
In hardly any though, just look at the release dates for both films.
Bond has had competition before and this time will not be any different. This is nothing new and Bond will be fine with Skyfall guaranteed to be the new highest grossing film in the series, in my opinion.
Twilight is as much crap as is Bond23, it is in the eye or the beholder.
EON would be happy with the Twilight Box Office.
I didn't mind Cowboys & Aliens. It was entertaining.
CGI or not, SF will be amazing.
That is what we hope, as we did when we got that dissapointing last attempt.
I think most Bonds have staying power, whereas Twilight is obviously a generation thing. In ten years from now, I wonder (well, actually I don't ;-) ) which franchise will be the more popular. :)
@SaintMark Exactly. I'm not gettin my hopes up.
Also, I personally loved Quantum which was panned by critics and fans. Glad I didn't pay attention. I can't see Craig making a bad Bond, which I can't say for our other actors. I didn't realize just how much he loves this series, and reading of both he, the directors and writers working to add back familiar and classic pieces a la Connery just whets my appetite. I can't wait !
Maybe the 50th anniversary will push Skyfall on to a huge take!
Harry Potter, Twilight, Lord of the Rings all have brilliant BO's but where never meant as a continuing franchise but they will be remembered each in their own value. The 007 hasb een around much longer but some of its movies have been more miss than hit. And who knows the future..........
nah they cant be vampires they sparkle like F#() fairies!!
Mod edit: watch the language!
When you grow up you'll perhaps learn the art of compromis otherwise you are going to spend some lonely nights on Saturdaynight and such.
James Bond is not the best, he's entertaining in most of his movies but there have been plenty of better movies around.
Try to tell me something better than From Russia With Love or Casino Royale (not ranked as Bond films, but as films in general).
Grade A, classic films.
And it turns out.. Quantum of Solace was beat out after its first weekend at #1 to.... Twilight. (The first film)
Change anybody's thoughts?
