It's time we get a rockin' theme song, delivered with a Sheffield accent!
It's been hard following this guy up until now. There were some things he dropped that sounded about right.
Others I had not heard of but still sounded reasonable (if he is who he says it is, rumours can come fast and furious that contradict themselves in the film industry-- so I could buy his constantly evolving and developing, early in pre-production stories he was hearing).
This last one, though-- someone's either leading this guy down the garden path, and he's stupid enough to buy it, or now he's just running with anything he reads.
If they set B25 in the 1960s that would be rather cool actually. But ... I am not sure the overall audience would think so, too?! Personally, having a 60s style Bond film starring my #2 Bond actor plus Wright as Felix would be nothing but awesome. A colourful TB or DN-style adventure without #whatever and all that nonsense ... I would 100% appreciate it. But ... would it be a box office magnet to the overall audience ?!
There's no strategic point, as a film-business model to put 007 back in time.
Bond is here.
Alternate timelines, time travel, one-offs in a different universe work in a certain genre (sci-fi; X-Men, Star Trek), not Bond.
@peter Seriously, don't you realize he read it here and he's just trying to fool everyone? Or do you really think the fact he wrote the 60s rumor only two hours after I wrote it here is a coincidence?
It can't and it won't.
+1
Also we are closest to a cold war scenario than we've ever been since the 80's.
To ignore all thats going on right now and simply put Bond back into the good ol' glory days of the 60's would be incredibly lame and misguided.
Espionage right now, is as important as ever. I am much more intrigued to see how Bond fits into all that.
In addition, it continues the trend of following other franchises by attempting a period piece a'la X-Men First Class.
This rumor, of course could be complete bull, and that wouldn't surprise me.
I do feel, though, with incredibly long gaps becoming more and more the norm, the time will come when a new Bond film would be set during the Cold War.
It's kind of like trying to bring back Philip Marlowe on the screen and not have it set during the '40's noir period.
Go on, try him with another made up gem, see if he bites.
Oooh! Brosnan back for the film he should have got? I'd like that!
Maybe the only way Boyle's "idea" could work would be for a former Bond to return?
Edit: that's a bit NSNA like, only without the competing Bond film.
At some point Craig's Bond is "mentally depressed" and feels lost, so he asks the help of previous Bonds (confirming the codename theory is true) and Dalton and Brosnan eventually team up with Craig to form the ultimate Scooby gang and face the new villains together.
According to my friends in the industry EON is in talks with Roger Moore's estate because they would like to digitally recreate him as well.
Dude, the call very explicitly states that they're looking for Russian actors.
The film starts with Bond in the present day, but he gets a head injury in the PTS which makes him believe he's in the 60s - allowing the remainder of the film to be a period piece ;)
Oh wait nope that was just a Dream ;)
If true, I need to remove all firearms and sharp objects from my home. :P
Brosnan is obviously back to sing the theme song :P
From Heaven with Love ?
