The next actor to play Bond will be chosen by none other than Christopher Nolan, and he will probably choose someone he has already worked with and will be under 40 by the time he starts filming his Bond film. Think Jack Lowden.

I think 2020 becomes more likely with every passing day without news.

If they can't make the 2019 release date, they should just cancel this film, sell the rights and let Nolan take charge. He will probably make another movie before his Bond film, so Chris Nolan's BOND 25 could be released around 2022.

yes. oh. yes. thats totally gonna happen. And 20th Century Fox will take over from Universal and Tom Hardy and Fassbender will share the role of 007, and.... and... and...

@echo, well if he finished the script for them then I would assume he ceased to be their employee at that point. He fulfilled his services. Boyle is the one who hadn’t even started filming anything. So it makes sense that he exited the project. But Hodge has nothing to exit, unless he was in the middle of writing and then said ok see ya...

And especially since EON automatically own whatever Hodge writes. Exiting sounds like he left and took whatever he had with him. Or left without finishing the script. I suppose in this case the latter is a likely scenario. I somehow doubt that the script was completed. Boyle and Hodge only came onboard a few months ago which is when Hodge probably pitched his ideas to Babs and Michael. So I can’t imagine the script to be completed already. The basic idea and some elements were probably already in place. Filming was still a few months away. So I’m sure we were still in the script stage.

That's what SHOULD happen. I know it won't happen, because Barbara is madly in love with Daniel Craig (who can blame her?) and will make Craig's 5th Bond movie happen no matter what. Chris Nolan's Bond movie will have to wait unfortunately.

Anything he wrote, based on B25: outlines, plot points, characters-- all of it (ALL. OF. IT) belongs to EoN.

I agree. Distributed by 20th C Fox. Absolutely, one hundred per cent with you on this. Keep going. You're unraveling it beautifully.

I'm almost turned on by the brilliance of it all.

  • @peter, well they can’t own whatever he didn’t put down on paper or convey to them verbally. If he left midstream then they only own what he gave them. The rest they need to fill in the blanks themselves.

Howevvvahhh-- dear @ringfire211 -- any idea he said, spoke, verbalized, even in a spit-balling session, is also EoN's.... They. Own. Everything.

    (Everything or Nothing?)

The silent thoughts he kept to himself-- and will never be able to use as a Bond film because he has no ownership in Ian Fleming's James Bond 007-- he pretty much owns...

So I was thinking about the announcement from a week ago. Am I the only one who thinks it's strangely short? I mean compare this....
Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig today announced that due to creative differences Danny Boyle has decided to no longer direct Bond 25.

...to this Lucasfilm announcement from June 2017:
The untitled Han Solo film will move forward with a directorial change.

“Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.

“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew,” stated Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

The untitled Han Solo film remains scheduled for a May 2018 release.

The Lucasfilm announcement sounds about 10 times more professional, is much more hopeful and far less vague. By comparison, it seems like EON is trying to hide something.

You’re right. Even when the announcement first dropped I thought it was unusually short and devoid of details. While I don’t think they owe us any explanation or more detail, you’d think they would consider it beneficial to offer it.

EON's always come off as being cold. This is probably due privacy concerns for both sides. I'm sure that someone's shocked by the sudden departure.

At this time I have about zero excitement for the next entry. That may change, but at this moment I feel that I can spend my last few decades on Earth re-watching the first 23 (and NSNA) and rereading the original Fleming (and CS) to get my fix (and, of course, help man these boards). After SP it was hard to muster any enthusiasm. Boyle managed to give me that to a degree, but I just feel burnt (and burned) at this point.

    That’s because you’re “a passionate man” @Birdleson .

But these are emotionless times, where “the job” has to get done.

You’re a leader here, and when u see this obstacle has been solved, I’m sure B25 will be on your list in due time!

It will be fine. James Bond will return. And we're due for a good entry. As someone else said, Eon does better when their back is against the wall...

I think the first step to making Bond 25 a hit is to be standalone from all the previous films. I think most Bond fans at this point would be most satisfied with a classic, straightforward, non-gimmicky Bond film.

Well it would retcon Brofeld out of the picture, but in a way that is somehow even more soap-opera-esque.

I’m still recovering from the excitement that was M:I-FALLOUT (which I just saw, I know I’m late to the party). One of the most incredible things I’ve seen on the big screen I literally have lost all hope that modern-day Bond can compete with this new and improved franchise. I remember when I saw GHOST PROTOCOL and loved it I thought it was just a fluke (I wasn’t exactly enamored with the previous entries) and didn’t think ROGUE NATION would top it when it came out but lo and behold it did. Now FALLOUT managed to top ROGUE NATION. This is literally the only series where every new film at this point is truly “the best one yet” and it’s not merely a marketing gimmick. Like remember when QOS was the best one yet? When DAF was the best one yet? They always do this with every new Bond movie but of course we know that’s not true. With the M:I series it actually is 100% true! Furthermore the M:I series is actually lifting scenes straight out of Bond movies (Benji’s remote controlled BMW via cellphone) while the Bond producers are afraid to use this stuff in their own movies. No they’d rather explore Bond’s psyche. Meanwhile M:I is running circles around them. They have so many exhilarating scenes in their film that they actually leave top-notch action scenes on the cutting room floor (like Ethan in a helicopter vs the truck) that a Bond film would only be so lucky to have as a highlight in its film. That’s how skilled in the action department the M:I crew is. The action in the current Bond films is lethargic by comparison. I wouldn’t even mind it so much if they at least brought back that classy sophisticated Bond vibe of the 60s and 70s (Connery and Moore) but they can’t even do that. So it becomes really hard to get excited for a new Bond film, especially in light of the latest developments. Though Boyle leaving might actually be a blessing in disguise. If there’s one thing I abhor, especially in a Bond film, it’s political correctness. The whole world is infected with this disease right now.

I just read that Danny Boyle left because Barbara Broccoli wanted Bond to die in B25!!! Killing Bond is utter madness! His survival is fundamental for the series! I wish he stayed so he could fight this and put an end to this idea! Then they are gonna reboot yet again after that? No! Just NO! New Bond actor after this yeah, but I hate the idea that they are gonna turn the Craig era into some saga that starts with Casino Royale and end with his death!... That's not how Bond works.

Incidentally, how credible is that source that claimed Bond 25 is still on track despite losing its director?
I still don’t buy into the dumb rumors about EON killing Bond. At worst, it will be ambiguous if it even comes close. Either that or if it somehow is true, EON has lost it and will unleash the worst Bond film ever on us. I’m not going to worry about it just yet though.
