I would say there's nothing wrong with his look at all.

But, it's all about how he delivers on screen. I thought he was good in The Bodyguard

I have only seen episode one so the jury is out for me atm,but I am due to start watching the other 5 ,maybe even hit episode 2 tonight if I can.

If nothing else is great entertainment. It's far fetched but they make it look almost believable and the twists are not too Agatha Christieesque.

I havent heard a bad word said about it,and the 1st episode was interesting,so i'm looking forward to it.

How about Matt Stokoe? He played the mobster in The Bodyguard. Don't know much about him and not sure how good he looks without the beard but he seems to have acting chops and he is 6'2 and not even 30 yet.

I am of two minds about Richard Madden. Sometimes I think his look is right, other times I think he looks like a less muscular, younger, Scottish Arnie. But I think he's got the skills, he can do action and he's a natural womaniser. There were a few scenes in the series where he acted very Bondian.

I’m glad to see someone else sees the young Arnie. I have not seen The Bodyguard so I confess I can’t give him a fair evaluation, but on looks alone, including height, I don’t see him as Bond.
As time passes , Hemsworth is really becoming my front runner. As much as I’ve enjoyed Daniel’s take on the character, I’m ready for a change and a return of a Bond who’s having fun as he saves the world .
With no imagination at all I can see Hemsworth playfully flirting with Moneypenny, for love of Queen and country receiving his mission from M, with boyish enthusiasm collecting his “toys “ fin Q, then globetrotting as he meets beautiful women and combats formidable foes.
He’s at just the right amount of fame, and as far as salary demands, the opportunity to play 007 would make him flexible.

Nicholas Hoult as a young Bond ,Dan Stevens excellent in the Guest ,Tom Mison from Sleepy Hollow but I personally would go for Andrew Lincoln from the Walking Dead.

I don't think Bond needs to be played by a thesp. Connery was not classically trained and was the best of the lot.

Connery did have experience playing classical roles though--before Bond he played successfully both Macbeth and Hotspur and he acted in theater productions of plays by Eugene O'Neill and Euripides. James Bond is hardly more "realistic" than a character from Shakespeare--you need someone with enough acting talent to make him suave but believable, and that actor also has to be physically right for the part. Connery fulfilled both qualifications.

Madden was fantastic in the Bodyguard but the height factor rings alarm bells for me.

It's well worth a watch, Jed Mecurio continues to rise.

As for Dan Stevens I've liked the suggestion from the get go and looking at his intensity in the Apostle trailer as well as his performance in The Guest I'd take him over Cavill and Turner in a heartbeat.

He has that natural charisma and charm that I just don't see in either that block of wood or that TV drama actor.

Stevens made the leap from Downton quite adeptly I thought, getting out at the right time and carving himself quite an impressive career without going massive. I think depending on his situation and he doesn't look like he's going to blow up massive, more picking more interesting diverse roles than tent poles. If he sticks to that hell yeah give him a screentest.

I know some will say too close to DC in looks but if he has the chops, I don't want them just hiring a handsome clothes horse to sate those wanting the tick the box idea of Bond when there are better and more capable actors out there.

QoS showed me how much I value an actor who owns the screen. I remember at the time when I watched it in the cinema I thought this has nothing to do with classic Bond, but I'd follow it where ever it goes, simply because Craig managed to take me with him.
Has of course also to do a lot with other factors. SFshowed me how hard it is for me, even if I want to, to follow a director whose work doesn't resonate with me properly.
So, beside a director to my liking I would appreciate an actor who commands the screen. For that he doesn't have to be Sir Laurence Olivier, but presence and charisma are quite basic.

Dan Stevens is an actor many of us have suggested before. He’s certainly got something, including the acting chops.
I do wonder if age is something that may start going against him shortly. But I don’t think it’s an issue just yet.
I’d hope EON would at least sceentest him. I’d be surprised if he isn’t already on their list.

This old chestnut. Who knows? The last time they went with popular opinion, PB, it didn't go too well. I'd like The Hobbit chap, the transition from TV to big screen has been done before. I also like Thor.

Norton, his old school mate (JP Watson) works in the next office, said he's cleared his decks????!!! One's leg being pulled I presume.

I think they'll surprise us again and give us an unknown. I

The early reviews for Venom are negative. If this film flops critically, Tom Hardy could be left without a franchise, as Mad Max seems in limbo.

He would be available for Bond.

Just watched the excellent Mission Impossible Fallout, and it was good to see some snarling charisma from Bond hopeful Henry Cavill in that. Off topic slightly, but goodness me the action in that film puts a lot of the recent Bond stuff in the shade.

Villian yes, Bond no. Hardy is not a brand the Bond name can allign to. He hasn't go that 3 0r 4 quadrant appeal. Villian 100%. He'd be a great foe for a new Bond when DC hangs up his ego. That Bond film would be a must watch.

Just caught an old Graham Norton interview with Jamie Dornan. Damn: he had Bond written all over him. Maybe he still does. But I think Fifty Shades killed off his chances.

Stevens is my number one now, he'd be so much better than Hardy, Turner and Cavill put together.

Barbara overuled Campbell for good reason on Cavill, may BB & MGW continue to reign just to keep that block of wood away from the role.

I think Cavill would be a good choice. He was excellent in MI: Fallout and The Tudors. He was poor in The Man From Uncle, though.

Possibly the type of actor that needs to be enthused by the material?

Definitely don't want Hardy. Excellent actor, but not right for Bond.
