The stairwell fight! Great sequence. I love the bit afterwards as Bond cleans himself up. Pure Fleming .

The dialogue is spot on here.

    The shower scene.

Bond showers with his clothes on. Connery's Bond had his ar$e wiped with a giant broom/brush before his shower scene.

Fleming's Bond showers every other page when he's not eating scrambled eggs.

You must have thought I was bluffing, Mr Bond.

Bond got destroyed. He genuinely looks gutted.

Felix introduces himself. I do hope Wright comes back.
    Excellent Leiter, IMO.

I think he should have given Bond a little push, though.

This is hands down the best viewing I've had of CR in years.
    I am loving every frame.
Bond is poisoned. Villiers is riveted by the intensity. He really looks like somebody Ari Gold would fire on ENTOURAGE.

Bond effed up again and can't push the button.................................................................................................

this is almost as intense as the de-bombing in OCTOPUSSY.

The true test would be: would this be as effective had Craig worn a clown costume?

    Roger gets the edge there.

Bond removes his jacket for the final hand.
He's relaxing. Vesper is getting stressed out.

Bond prevails and now it's time for some scrambled eggs, toast and caviar.

Bond has the restaurant cleared out so he can dine alone with Vesper.

    Car chase!!!!!!!!

    Bond is thrashed.
One of the greatest scenes in movie history coming up............................

There's a great episode of THE SAINT where Roger Moore is tortured. Too bad we never really got a decent torture scene for his Bond.

    That chair looks immensely comfortable.

I'd say it should have been a carpet beater, but those are probably difficult to find today.

In the novel I think this takes place as a secluded house of sorts. It goes on for hours as well.

Classic scene.....................and Bond is saved by Mr White.

You forget the sex scene with May Day.

YES!!!!!! How can I forget that?

"I hereby tender my resignation with immediate effect"

I used that line once when I resigned from a crummy job without notice.

Bond in casual attire. He looks good, and his hair is growing out to QUANTUM OF SOLACE length. There's still just enough time for him to grow it to that length for B25.

The sinking house finale. Spectacular stuff here, but I wonder if we should have had the novel's somber low key ending instead?

Still I like this as it is.

The classic final scene. This ranks in my top 5 "Bond, James Bond" line readings. Great scene and great presentation worthy of Connery and Terence Young.

Excellent Bond movie, a true masterpiece.

Best viewing I've had in quite some time.

I agree with you re that finale. Would have worked better being more low key.
However Craig is really cool the way he dispatches those thugs, particularly with the nail gun!

They could have given us something in-between. Why did the whole damned building need to sink?
It's all a bit much for me on subsequent viewings, although first time in the theatre it was great (because I had no idea what would happen).

I realize that the book ending may not have worked, but agree that they perhaps could have gone for something middle of the road, without another grand action sequence. After all, that final scene in the film is very simple and low key, and yet extremely powerful.

I just watched it a few weeks ago with @Birdleson, but I’m about to pop in QOS again. I can’t seem to stay away from Bond lately.

Enjoy @FoxRox - I just watched QOS last week and it's high on the rewatchability factor. So taut, rapidly paced, great soundtrack and the best that Craig looks in the series.

I love Quantum. I'd put it high on my rewatch list, even though it's currently ranked 8th overall for me. I guess it doesn't matter what other people think, but at the same time, I wish it were better appreciated. I think people were expecting another Casino Royale, which it obviously is not. I love Olga Kurylenko, and for my most recent watch, I liked the villain a lot more than I remembered.
  • The location scouting in SF was top notch - Skyfall house and grounds are nicely rundown and ancient. Like it was pulled from time. Works with bond's line 'going back in time'. It looks like they literally have.

Scotland is gorgeous. I recommend it.

    LIVE AND LET DIE

In the mood for some Roger.

Gunbarrel!!!!! Bond isn't aiming for the heart, he's aiming for the groin here or right knee. Still led to a load of blood..........

    Great Bond theme here.

I love the U.N. section. Solitaire looks lovely here.
Kananga is one of my favorite villains.

    BLOOD OF DRACULA'S CASTLE
's Robert Dix. He's great. I like his fedora. I need to find one that size. Very Bogie.

This is an underrated PTS. It's fun even without Bond. I do feel that discarded opening would have been cool, though. I think he had a contact lens with information in it or something. Fight on a rooftop if I remember.

My favorite Binder title sequence of all. Great stuff here.
This is my girlfriend's number one Bond film. Thanks to George Martin and Sir Roger.
This remains in my top 10.

Bond has a bright yellow pajama outfit. Goes well with his banana ski outfit.

Roger, in this film I feel has the best haircut of any Bond. He looks damn good at 45.
Reminds me I'll be hitting that milestone Bond age after the next film is released.
I wonder if I can find a navy double breasted overcoat like Roger's for my 45th b-day?
Still time to plan...............For now I'll just enjoy being Tim's Bondian age.

    Great Moneypenny scene.

I love David Hedison as Felix. Great Leiter, and chemistry with Roger. Old buddies. I can see his Felix taking Bond to an American diner, ordering Burgers and onion rings...........then complaining about them.

    Just browsing, thank you.

I use that line all the time in everyday life.
Roger is extremely suave here. He is the man.

    Arnold Williams is great.

I love the funk Bond theme here. Wonderful.

    It's like following a cue-ball.
Bond gives him a huge tip for 1973.

Roger Moore once said in the 1950's he tipped a taxi driver quipping "keep the change". As the cab drove off Roger realized he had given him a $100 bill.

My favorite "Bond, James Bond" in the series right here. this is my number one reading of the classic line. YES!!!!!!!

    I love Tee-Hee. Great villain!

Bond shaves in the bathtub. He should sing "Rubber Ducky".

I love the cigar and his facial expression as he exits the bathroom.
The cigar is HUGE. Great scene. Rosie Carver is pretty funny as well.
This one is the funniest Bond film. IMO. One great scene after another.

The Rosie seduction is great as well. Some amazing Roger facial expressions.

Kananga is pi$$ed at Solitaire. Tee-Hee finds it amusing.

"If you do not ask specific questions, I cannot be responsible for your mis-interpretation of the answers." Love that line and Kananga's look following it.

Tee-Hee is trying to not to crack up as they exit.

The dashing Sir Roger in hang-glider mode. This I'd say is an iconic image from this film.

Jumping into a Sunday afternoon screening of From Russia with Love on ITV.
Bond has just met Tatiana for the first time. Amazing to think that this scene has always been used as a barometer for potential Bonds when it comes to auditioning.

If a potential Bond actor can't play that scene convincingly, all is lost.

I'm so enthralled by the boat chase I am barely posting. A great set piece action sequence. I think someone ON THE TRACKS OF 007 should try and locate these exact spots.
