Well, it appears we're in for a long wait... At least production has begun, so they're on schedule for once.
Indeed. There's been more than a few Norwegian films doing shoots abroad though; wouldn't hurt to keep the productions here instead.
This one sentence from the article could easily be completely wrong too. It's an article about the film industry's carbon footprint, not Bond.
They may want to get out of the way of the Game of Thrones juggernaut that's about to hit...
Maybe they're taking a page from GoT and filming decoy scenes as well.
Me too.
Fair points both. It may be tough for the fans, but it's a tactical choice to stay clear of those two monsters. Especially Endgame - I'd wager it might even do record box office. It'll suck up all the oxygen for 2 or 3 weeks anyway.
Would next week Thursday or Friday (18th or 19th) work?
Or do we really need to look to the 2nd or 3rd of May?
Because if that's the case, I sincerely hope we get a clapper board photo in between. With Fukunaga's hand obscuring the title, of course.
Good question - I don't know the dates of those others.
But this is the blessing and curse of Bond being a billion-dollar franchise now: EON is operating in the rarefied air of just a few other players like Star Wars, the MCU, Jurassic World, and the Fast and Furious.
They're wise to play accordingly.
Oh, shut up.
Okay but this doesn’t answer the question of why it’s a problem that he’s not in London now.
Mod edit: Stop responding and move on.
Not that this is a bad thing, I'm not worried anything will be delayed at the moment.
Do I think principal photography has started? Yes.
Am I sure of that? No.
And not that I want to create a sense of worrying, but if filming had started, who is Craig filming scenes with? It's not Wishaw (in a play that runs until May 19th), not Fiennes (expects to join around May/June), not Harris (likewise), not Magnussen (back in the US), not Malek (still in the US). Leaves Seydoux (possible, if she has an expanded role) or any actor/actress we don't know of yet.
So that means that whatever they're doing now at Pinewood, they're very secretive about. I'm curious as to how long they'll stick with "no communication" as their preferred method.
Seeing as it could be about other big franchises I feel that could well be the case?!!!
When principle photography on Quantum of Solace began, the entire cast was confirmed.
During Skyfall, the entire cast was confirmed.
During Spectre, the entire cast was confirmed + we had a clapper shot on the first day of filming.
I don't think it's bad to be cynical when Eon has broken their "pattern". I'm not saying the sky is falling, but it's weird.
Coinciding with this, I got a tiny morsel that last week, at least the early part of the week, was busy at PWS. It was suggested that at least a part of two days was DC working with the stunt crew.
@DeerAtTheGates touched on something-- there's a strong possibility that scenes are being shot with Bond and Madeleine (according to the IMDbPro site, the only film Seydoux is filming is B25; she has three other films in pre-production... Hmmm...).
With what feels like the caginess of EoN, they can shoot these scenes all on set, away from prying eyes. And perhaps the reason they are doing these scenes (apart from scheduling conflicts for some of the cast), and why there may be a sense of caginess, are that these scenes are story-heavy and would give away the plot.
I'm sure at this point, after the Sony-hacks, Eon, et al, would love to shoot the whole thing in a bubble and away from leaks and whispers.
They seem to be doing a damn fine job of it so far (however I do know everyone was VERY pleased with how the Norway shoot turned out; I was given no details beyond that, (and told the person who let me know this, that that's like giving me a set of finely polished "blue balls"))...
Great point about the possible spoilers surrounding Seadoux, thanks @peter. That would make a lot of sense.
No problem @TR007 -- also thinking that Seydoux has three films in pre-production, we may also presuppose that she can shoot most of her scenes now.
The rest of the days can be DC auditioning the other two female leads (if it hasn't been done yet), and continuing to work with the stunt crew (I have a feeling he and magnussen are going to be trading some nasty blows).
