Timothy Dalton as OO7!! ****Final update- DONE****

I was at the comic store the other day and saw something that had HUGE potential- there was this action figure from Flash Gordon (never saw it, but Timothy Dalton was in it) with Dalton's likeness.

http://www.animegarden.co.nz/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/5e06319eda06f020e43594a9c230972d/f/i/file_36_20.jpg

I immediately thought to myself 'how cool would it be to use this and turn it into a James Bond figurine, to display with my other Bond stuff?'. I'd just need to find another figure in a suit, or tux and I'd be good to go (and paint over the mustache).
Someone out there had the same idea as me, because shortly after I found this:

http://www.figurerealm.com/Customs/18500/18444-3.jpg

It's that same head, plus what appears to be a Hitman (video game) body

I've never done anything like this before- but I'm totally gonna try this out!! I have my Bond movies on display separately from my other movies;it would be just too cool to have Dalton Bond standing next to them, since he's my favorite!

Has anyone tackled a custom like this before?

I've never tried anything like this before. But i'm curious to see the results of others efforts. That one in the picture is very good, it does indeed have Daltons likeness.

Why on earth don't they make figures of Bond anyway?? Likeness rights issues? Sheesh, I'd buy them all!

Wow, what an uncanny resemblance that is! The figure looks great in amongst that fire background.

Well, we did have those (average quality) Sideshow Toys ones, but even those stopped being made a number of years ago. And while some might wish all traces of the series to be erased, threre were James Bond jr figures in the early 1990's. But it would be nice if they made collectors figues, just like there is for Doctor Who.

That's one of the 2 newest McCoy/7th Doctor ones, just imagine something similar for the Bonds.

They'd no doubt release a Bond version of this too:

I'd love something like that for Bond too. Except 22 figures, one from each film, would be much better than 6. I would buy them as well, as such a thing would no doubt be really well made.

I decided to tackle this little project! So here's mine!

    image

I will need to paint the face, neck and hands- and probably should make the tie black. Then it should be good to go! It will have a place of honor on my Bond shelf

    That's looking good @Master_Dahark :-D

Looking forward to the finished product.

    Thanks, me too!
I've never really painted a figurine before... and was VERY disappointed when I cut off the mustache and it was BLACK underneath!
I had hoped the head was cast in skin colored plastic and cutting the mustache off would have been enough... Oh well. I'll just be careful that's all.
I also intend to give him a black tie... and I''m not a fan of the pinstripes on the shirt may paint that white.
*One added bonus: When I bought the Hitman figure (the body) I discovered that among the many weapons he came with was that big Sniper Rifle Bond used in TLD!!

That's actually really cool, @Master_Dahark. You should hit up ebay to see if there are any other toys you can do this to.

There should definitely be more Bond figures.

Looks like the Ecclestone Doctor's getting in touch with his feminine side and wants to hold hands there. >-)

Interesting little project, Dahark. Must admit, I do own a Lennon and McCartney figurine each in their Yellow Submarine film guises, which stand on, well, my collection of Bond novels right now actually. But don't have anything else like that, Bond or otherwise...

Here's where I stand- head is in place- painted. Need to 'neaten' it a bit though...

Touched it up a bit- did a darker wash over the flesh and shirt to bring out some detail. Found an old gun with a silencer already on it and called it DONE

    Here's why! ;-)

Great touching up of the figure by the way @Master_Dahark, it looks truely fantastic and nothing like the original.

    Haha, nice work @Master_Dahark!

His pose and the way the tuxedo parts actually looks extremely similar to Daniel Craig's pose on the Casino Royale poster:

The figure is great! Good work!

That Craig pic is gonna be copyright, obviously.... (And why does Eva Green look like she smelled something bad?)

Sorry, I wasn't sure if the rule applied to posters as well, since they're usually considered "fair use" under US copyright law.
