Definitely keep the current actors as M, Q, and Moneypenny forward and across Bond actors. They're pretty stellar.

It's counterproductive to constantly mix things up when you have excellent performers on hand. Part of the draw to the audience is to have them on hand across the years as good business, as proven for the Bond franchise.

I hope they all stay on for a long time, as they did with previous Bond actors coming and going. I like them all and it will give this new rebooted era a level of consistency it needs.

I think it’d be better to recast all the faces at MI6 when they go with a new Bond actor.

They have such a stellar bunch of actors in these roles. The notion of dispencing of them after three films is close to heartbreaking.

Whishaw is quickly establishing himself as the MVP of the series. I hope the next iteration of Bond keeps him around. I want as much of him in this series as possible. He's my favourite Q and it only took him 2 films. He's a scene-stealer.

I really love Fiennes as an actor. I think there is a lot more to do with the M character. I think Daniel's Bond is so closely connected to Judi's M, that it has been difficult for Ralph's M to make an impression. Perhaps with a new Bond, they will get Ralph and him to really work together well.

Sadly, Naomie will probably have to depart. She's currently 42 (though she looks 32) and may want to move on....I'd be up for her staying in theory. However, she'll be at least 45-46 in Bond 26 and possibly acting alongside a new Bond who is in his early to mid 30's.

It could work...I can imagine her being Moneypenny if Henry Cavill or Michael Fassbender get the role. But I feel Eon will go younger with the next Bond. So the next Moneypenny will be recast naturally.

I love Whishaw as Q, but wouldn't it be strange to see a 50 year old Whishaw trying to keep up the image of a young, geeky Q?

50 years old! So you think we'll have Craig for another 10+ years?

Never took to the idea of a young computer geek Q. For me, Q was meant to be more of a mythical type character -- the wizard/uncle that provides the hero magical implements (gadgets in Bond's case) and shares his wisdom to help the hero succeed. I liked the light-hearted interplay & comic relief between Bond and an older Q -- though, where Bond always respected Q.

Whishaw would have worked better as an additional, new character to the franchise, one who should respect Bond. Then he could stay on in that role. As Q, he needs to go and someone older than Bond needs to be reintroduced.

I'm not saying the franchise can't update. Dench, the first woman in the role, was my favorite M. The latest Felix, the first Black in the role (in the official series), is my favorite Felix. I loved when they moved Moneypenny out of the office and into the field (who really needs a secretary these days) and hated when they put her back in the office. Whishaw though, while a great actor, is horribly miscast as Q -- who should be someone old enough to have the experience to lead a team of scientists (an entire division of them).

If Whishaw had been cast as a new team member, providing regular computer support to Bond (which would be very believable in today's world), he'd have been a great addition. He's simply not believable in the Q role. The producers missed the boat on this role and miscast him. He now needs to leave with Craig. Cleese would have been a much better casting, but the producers pissed him off and can't get him back.

Anyway, what I really think is that a new Bond requires a series reboot (but not a new origin story), with all new actors cast in the roles of the regular characters.

No, Craig’s era, and this incarnation of Bond, this timeline, ends when Craig exit.
Let’s start with a clean slate for 26, and beyond, an all new cast .

The next Bond will more than likely be a completely new incarnation of the character and detached from the Craig era.
I want a clean slate and entirely new cast.

Please keep Ben as Q. He's absolutely fantastic and I would love to see him grow old in the role ala Desmond.

I agree. Maybe Ralph Fiennes as well, I never got what was so special about Judi Dench's M. Other than more screentime.

I also want Naomie Harris playing Ms. Moneypenny as long as possible.

I don't think it would make much sense for a Moneypenny in her mid-to-late 40s to flirt with a Bond in his early 30s. There's nothing wrong with it, but can you really see it happening on-screen?

Yes. I see it happening (as long as posible) but when the age differece will be too big EON could introduce Loelia Ponsonby (or new actress as Moneypenny).

I think the probability of recasting the MI6 cast is much higher than it's ever been. Let's be honest. Bernard Lee and Desmond Llewellyn were not high profile actors of their time, so them sticking with Bond until the day they literally died wasn't beyond the pale. Lois Maxwell wasn't really that notable of a name either, only staying on as long as she did because she was of the same age as Roger Moore, and recasting her was required given the flirtatious dynamic between Bond and Moneypenny.

Casting Judi Dench as M really set a new bar for the franchise for hiring higher profile actors in roles that were originally just cameos played by character actors during the Cubby years. From GOLDENEYE on we'd get names like John Cleese, Jeffrey Wright*, Rory Kinnear, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw*, and Naomie Harris. All award winning and critically acclaimed actors that have had a notable career outside of Bond. Contrast that to the casting of Robert Brown in the 80s, who really only got the gig because he was old pals with Roger Moore.

All this makes me think that EON, at least as it's currently run, won't cast the parts like they used to in the Cubby era for a long time. Now when you cast someone in the role of M, it's expected to be by a name as notable as Dench and Fiennes.

*=Though I suspect they were cast because Craig recommended them based on having worked with them in previous films.

    I echo this sentiment.

I really can’t see Broccoli getting rid of either Whishaw or Fiennes after 3 films. If Dench can survive the first reboot, then these two should be safe. The only time I can see them re-casting either M or Q is if Christopher Nolan or another big name director wanted a very deliberate clean slate……........................…I do think Phoebe Waller-Bridge would make a good Q though.

Harris is more of a question mark. Personally, I’d love to see her stay on – but, she may want to vacant the role once Daniel leaves in NTTD.

I'm of the opinion that by the time B26 actually gets rolling, Ben should be about the age Desmond was in LTK. Therefore I say keep him on.

I wonder if they'll give a different origin to each incarnation of the MI6 team, like they did with Skyfall.

EON was actually ready to replace Dench, but it was Martin Campbell that strongly suggested that they keep Dench. This is why her M immediately seems different from the Brosnan era's M likely because it was written under the assumption someone else would play the part.

Just Q for me. The rest could go and I'd be fine.

Same. Fiennes I like but can't say I'm attached to. Harris I was excited for but have been disappointed in.

Wishaw though is brilliant. The best thing about the Craig era apart from Craig himself and the perfect successor to Desmond. If Dench can stay across reboots then surely he can. He could play Q until he's as old as Desmond was by the end.

When Craig goes and a new incarnation of the character is presented, existing in his own timeline, a whole new supporting cast should be brought in.

I'd be fine with that. I don't expect any of the current MI6 actors to play the roles until they literally die.

For what it’s worth Harris said she’s game to play the role as long as she can, so she may stick around for at least one more actor after Craig. I don’t wanna make assumptions of Fiennes and Whishaw sharing that sentiment, since unlike Bernard Lee and Desmond Llewellyn they actually have a pretty active and prolific career outside of Bond.

That is the thing. They are all busy and successful actors (as typecasting is very much a thing of the past), so I imagine Fiennes and Wishaw will probably leave with Craig. And it will be their choice.
