    I have just returned home with mine. Sure, Dynamite would like to do more -- but will only do so if this one sells well. Of more importance than the number 1 on the spine are the numbers 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 on the indicia page, preceded by the words, "First Printing." Comic books appreciate in value -- or don't -- because of supply and demand. Monthly comics are (generally) only printed once and that's it. No increase in supply. If demand is sufficient, over time the collectible value of a book goes up. This is usually not the case with graphic novels, which continue to stay in print as long as there is a demand. According to my LCS, Diamond Distribution still has the book available for reorders -- so grab yours quick, to ensure you're getting a first edition which may actually appreciate in value -- and make sure your dealer knows you're interested in purchasing Dynamite's adaptation of Ian Fleming's James Bond: Live and Let Die as well. Hopefully we'll see it sooner rather than later.

    So what do I think of this GN? Fine adaptation. About as close to the original as can be hoped for. The color is flat rather than full palette, but that technique works well for this particular title. Farther along, say around Doctor No I'd like to see the island setting in more vibrant hues --but that's a topic for another time. Dennis Calero's use of photo reference for his characters isn't as consistent as one might hope -- Vesper looks very much like a young Elizabeth Taylor early in the novel but far less so later in the book, and a young Roger Moore pops up in one panel as a background character, somewhat distractingly so to my eyes. Sometimes M is modeled on Bernard Lee -- but in a few panels he seems to be based on Charles Gray. Perhaps I'm picking nits here, but that's what fans do, isn't it? All told, I'll give this book an A- with one small point off for the fluctuating use of character reference, and I look forward to seeing IFJB:LALD.

    Far from a confirmation and maybe i am reading way too much into this, but the 's' in adventures makes me believe that at least the LALD adaption is a done deal.

    I purchased a digital copy already, with a physical copy bound to be bought within a week. I can tell you it's a very worthy purchase for literary Bond fans. No slight bit of a detail was altered to fit the image of the films.

    In addition to that, many former Bond alumnus make appearances, as well. For example, Jack Lord's likeness is reserved for Felix Leiter's character; Topol and Julian Glover also make cameo appearances as a Greek and Belgian businessmen.

    The Pussy is relieved to hear that it is a faithful rendition. It was his feeling but it’s great to have it confirmed. He has it on order from Amazon so hopefully it will arrive earlier than predicted.
    PussyNoMore has nothing against the graphic form.
    Indeed, his other great favourite - Modesty Blaise - started out that way.

    I suspect that if LALD were a done deal, Dynamite would have already announced it. The more I consider the finances of a venture like this -- realizing also that the Fleming estate needs to be "wetting their beaks" on these volumes in order for them to continue -- the more amazed I am that we have even this one adaptation. I'd love to have the entire series produced in this format, but, well, we will see...

    Lets wait for the July solicitations from Dynamite which should be released in the next couple days, usually around the 20th.
    July so far features no Bond comic as The Body runs out in June, so i am pretty sure that a new series will be starting in July, which will be announced with the Solicitations or a day before, as Dynamite always does new announcements like this.

    They were supposed to be releasing the first James Bond Origins comic this month, whatever happened to that one? Did it get canned or something? Not that Dynamite are playing ball and revealing anything about it, mind?

    Well, now that we finally have Casino Royale in our hands, i am certainly more confident about Origins, and i think we will see it released within our lifetime :)
    Sooner rather than later.

    And honestly, after the hype that CR has been getting so far, this would be the perfect time to announce it, keep the momentum.

    Well, nothing new on the Bond front, I'm afraid. According to the Diamond Comics site (publisher of the Previews catalogue), the only "new" thing is James Bond Case Files Vol. 1, a hardcover volume which reprints Service, Moneypenny, Solstice and M. The rest are reissues of the preceding mini-seires.

    Not Dynamite, but definitely Bond and comic-related--I notice that Ian Fleming has shown up in a couple of French comics!

    Volume 3 of "Wunderwaffen présente Space Reich: Objectif Von Braun" has the following plot summary (translated by google):

    "Nazis or Americans: who will win the war for the conquest of space ?! The race for space between the US and the Reich is putting pressure on engineers on both sides. Von Braun suffered the impatience of the Reich masters as a defective American rocket provoked a diplomatic incident with Mexico. Ian Fleming, meanwhile, organizes an attack against the Nazi base where Von Braun tests a rocket capable of sending an artificial satellite into orbit."

    Can any of our French-speaking members provide more information?

    Fleming also plays a role--apparently a co-starring one--in "Spynest: Birdwatchers," summarized (and google translated) thusly:

    "Ian Fleming, famous author of James Bond was, as his fictional hero, secret agent at the service of the British crown during the Second World War. And if, while on a mission, Ian Fleming had met an extraordinary spy? The most intrepid, the most cynical and the most ferocious of all And if this spy was a woman? A Navajo Indian who speaks the famous "Navajo Code" developed by the US Army and was the only code never to have been pierced by the Japanese and Germans ... a code partially based on names of birds America ... Would Fleming have been desperately in love? Could she have influenced the very creation of James Bond's character?"

    Short answer: No. The overall level of accuracy is further demonstrated by the artist drawing Fleming as blond.

    Interesting regarding Fleming in comics. Sean Connery - or characters with his likeness, has appeared in comic books. In the background of a page in the comic book series Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, by Tony Bedard and Mike Perkins, and, of course, in Asterix.

    Fleming also appears in the short series (two volumes) L'Idole et le Fléau, in a flashback during WW . The first volume has him meeting Alan Turing, and the second volume details the Operation Ruthless.

    Yes, Space Reich is a serie of "What if USA don't go in war, German had won on the USSR front, and won the war ? The space race between USA and the 3th Reich have begin". I have the two first volume, the third came yesterday, but I can give you my feeling cause I only read a serie of comics only after the last part is realease (and apparantly, according to an interview, Space Reich will be a long serie)... I know there are De Gaulle inside too for have a little peak on the illustrations, and here is an extract (Fleming is the guy in black clothes) :

    But I had read the 3 volumes of Spynest. And as far I can say, it's maybe the best comics I have ever read (even if Fleming is blond) !
